Would be perfect for both parties, we get rid of a terrible player and he'll end up getting to live in sunny Malaga - win win.

Is he terrible ? Was Success any better when he replaced him last night ?

I don't think either of them provide sufficient threat going forward, but Amrabat is more of an asset defensively. I don't think it is a coincidence that we conceded goals when he wasn't there to help out Mariappa.

I think he is a decent squad player.
Reminds me of Ji-Sung Park for United.
Never great but always puts in a shift.
There is room for a player like that in our squad.

Unless we were watching different game, I'd say Success was certainly an improvement.

I think we were watching the same game. Admittedly I couldn't see clearly through the tears (;)) but ........

Success put in 1 good cross. He was also (at least partly) responsible for the first goal as it was his poor touch that let BC take possession. I think he's been to the same bulking-up classes that Troy has been to - I don't think they have been helped by them.

Amrabat put in 1 good cross too. I think he also may have played the peachy pass over the top for Deeney to run on to (but that may have been someone else).

For the avoidance of doubt, I don't think Nordin is the answer to our problems. Equally, I don't think Success is either. But Amrabat does provide a greater defensive cover than Success.

I also think it is a shame that Amrabat hasn't been able to recover his form from the start of last season before his injury - in my opinion, at that time he was our best (or one of our best) players.

  6. I like this very much. Amrabat's loss of form is a big loss to the team, and makes his possible sale a practical option. But if he stays, he is still capable of doing a job, though we could reasonably wish for more from that position.

It is so frustrating that he doesn't take on players the same way since the injury.

Amrabat retains possession better than Success, which is why I'm sure Silva has played him ahead of him. Everytime Success runs at defenders, I fancy him to beat them and will admit that I do not feel the same optimism when Nordin has the ball. But Poor passing and giving the ball away cheaply (which was the start of one of City's breakaway goals last night) is why Success can't be trusted (so far) at this level (or even against lower league clubs being as it cost us a goal).

Until the club bring in somebody better, Amrabat is the best we have in that position regarding their all-round game. As mentioned in Beekayess' post above - it was Amrabat's excellent 50/60 yard pass to Deeney that put him clean through. Had Gray or even Okaka been on the end of it, we score but sadly an unfit Deeney (no pre-season so can't criticise him for that) wasn't able to get the ball out from under his feet quick enough.

Considering that Amrabat wasn't even on the pitch when we capitulated to Bristol City last night baffles me how he can be considered as a reason why we lost. In his 45 mins (other than one magnificent pass) he didn't do a lot - exactly the same as the other 9 out there at that time (Richarlison excluded).

Get Carrillo in, or the right wing position will continue to be a headache.

3 coaches have all kept picking Amrabat ok some maybe had no choice with injuries etc... but they must see something in him on the training ground for him to keep getting in the match day team/squad. He stays or goes I wouldn't be bothered either way as the guy can't be faulted for effort or versatility over the few seasons with us. As frustrating a player he is maybe keeping him until January would suit us better.

    New chant?

Amrabat, we're in hell, you'll be gone when the morning comes
When the match is over, Amrabat we will sell, you'll be gone, gone, gone
Amrabat, we're in hell, you'll be gone when the morning comes
    But when you are gone
    And the sun goes down
And their defence we still can't break through
Then like a sinner we'll speak of your one good match last season
And we'll come crawling on back to you

Seemingly against popular opinion I'm in the keep Amrabat camp. He seems to be a confidence player from an attacking perspective but always does a job for the team even when not on form.

If we are after 7m for him then who do we think we would replace him with for that money? Yes we got Chalobah for 5m but he is not a winger and please d0n't keep chucking that in as I think we all know we had it away on that deal, compare to Gray maybe at 18.5m, allegedly.

Yes I hope we get an improvement upon him (Carillo?) but I would be more than happy to have Amrabat in there keeping them honest and playing when needed. I know many of you disagree but we could do a lot worse than Nordin.

Now we have Carrillo I'm more than happy to keep Amrabat in the squad, as a winger he may not be so great but he does cover the right back pretty well, and now that there is competition for the right wing slot maybe he will up his game.

We could try replacing him with a right back who likes to play on the wing as well (like Femenia). They'd probably offer similar attacking threat, but be better at the defensive side of it. I'd imagine this kind of player would also be cheaper than a winger.

The only reason I could see Amrabat staying is for his workrate. I could get over him staying, providing he's reduced to the odd sub appearance to close games out. In the starting 11 his limited ability is far to restricting. I'd rather sell for 7mil though if the rumours are to be believed

Makes a change from him getting overtaken by a defender as he cuts back for the 7453rd time.

Every time we start to think we are growing as a club... another hammer blow.

We've started outstandingly in the league, so I'll give credit to Silva for that. But if he cannot keep one of our best players - let alone someone who for parts of last season was our best player - then I think we are all starting to doubt his ability as a coach.

This might not be the darkest day in our history, but let's be under no illusions that these are troubling, troubling times.

Sell Amrabat and Okaka/Deeney and buy Loic Remy who can cover both positions.

I would keep Amrabat simply because we haven't got adequate cover if/when Carrillo gets injured. We have Success but I don't think he's preferable to Amrabat even if he is a better attacker, he just gives the ball away so easily. Femenía is a full back for the most part and Janmaat is injury prone as we know so we need Femenía as a RB. Richarlison can play RW but then all we have on the left is Pereyra whose natural position is CAM. Amrabat works really hard but he isn't quality enough to be starting week in and week out.

Seems a nice guy but I'm happy for him to leave. Had a brief good spell but more consistently he's not good enough. As a fan think of the anticipation you feel when Richarlison is attacking down the left vs Amrabat down the right. He's simply not good enough irrespective of being prepared to work hard.

Don't mind the bat against top teams as he covers the RB.

Could do with staying behind training every day and practicing his crosses

Was nowhere near a fan of the player but seems an odd one given yesterday’s movements. Given it seems he was named in the squad, at least according to the thread in here, I can only assume that was wrong? And surely Zarate or Cathcart were named and not him? If not, it’s terrible mismanagement once again as regards to squads.

But I will withhold judgment until anything is confirmed as regards to squads.

I wasn’t a fan Nordin and ultimately I don’t think you were cut out to be a PL winger. But I thank you and appreciate that you ALWAYS gave your all and that’s the first thing I ever ask.

Edit: I also thought after yesterday that hopefully we could leave the transfer section alone for a few months. But we’ve now sold one of the two players (the other being Okaka) that divide opinion - so I look forward to people waking up to this news and falling out all over again about the first 3 months of last season!

Silva had a change of heart - seemed to be a regular.

Maybe wasn't happen about being taken off early last week?

Seems a strange one considering he was a regular starter, and our wingers are largely untested/ injury prone.

Was good enough to be a squad player and didn't deserve some of the abuse that a small minority of fans gave him.
