Won't be saying that when Success loses the ball for the millionth time in the game and doesn't track back. Will probably still blame Amrabat?

  2. Seriously, Richarlison has played three games. You could be saying the same negative things about him next year, with the same assured confidence you say it about Amrabat.

This time last season, Amrabat was simply and easily good enough, and remained so up until his injury. Maybe cut him a little slack, and just get behind the team.

Good luck to him. Hope he finds his feet quickly and shows everyone what he can do.

Did he ever score for us? I don't think he did, which says a lot about him.

Always gave it his best, just was nowhere near PL quality

Yeah...this post makes no sense. That said I know it's galling to see him leave unceremoniously for those few of you who stuck by him despite the evidence of your own eyes.

What can I clarify further for you? This will absolutely be a case of not realising what you've got until it's gone!

Maybe the late decision was based on Zarate's 45 minutes today - let's see if he's now included.

Only one of them essentially was going to get into the squad.

It really won't. Unless of course you include zero goals, tame crosses, ponderous wing play and repetitive shirt pulling? I'll dearly miss that from him. I'm glad Marco has seen enough and dropped him through the trap door.

I see that the squad has now been posted on the official site. And Amrabat is included and no Cathcart due to injury. Although they do mention why Cathcart is out but not Zarate - but there is a footnote stating the list is subject to change with approval from PL.

So Zarate in and Amrabat out if the PL let us essentially.

I'm just surprised he didn't link back up with Quique to play as a striker.

Seemed a likeable player but the writing was on the wall, he couldn't beat his man even against Bristol City, although he tracked back well he was at fault for the first goal conceded against Liverpool for leaving his man.

Ridiculous how we are letting our best player go out on loan. I hope the booooo boys are happy. They got what they wanted. Don't start moaning when Carrillo and Success lose the ball after trying to take on the world and can't cross.

  13. ??

Stuck by him because he showed, before my very eyes, that he could be a damn good player, and also that he could be damn frustrating.

Never said he should be kept off hand, just that you chaps who slated the ****, despite the evidence of your own eyes, should give him a chance.

I have been rather critical of him myself, but thankfully have been able to remain objective, rather than subjective to the tunnel vision that precludes consideration of any game in which he played well.

Edit: he was given a chance, that is what I expected from the club. I think its a shame it didn't work, but he's gone and fair dos.

Ah man. I loved this dude.

8 games into last season he was our best player. Back from injury he was never the same but still showed a million more times passion than others.

He IS a good footballer. Just things don't seem to have gone his way here.

Good luck Nordin. Hope you do well. Gladly see you back here soon.

An enigma to me. Could have been a very good player if he'd been trained to play in a position he's suited for. He's just not suited to being a winger.

You're the second one to mention other players and not moaning because Saint Nordin of Amrabat has been forsaken. It's nonsense. If other players perform as ineffectively as him when attacking they can also be criticised and moved on.

Very strange. On the official site it's posted that Amrabat has gone out on loan then just 10 minutes later he's in the official 25 man squad. Both can't be right. There's an explanation over Cathcart missing but nothing about Zarate. I'm assuming that it's just a mistake and Zarate is in rather than Amrabat. Alternatively there's been some last minute change of heart and Amrabat has been told he can go.

Amrabat had a lot of good qualities, he worked hard for the team and could run with the ball quite well. But 48 matches no goals and just 3 assists tells its own story. We did not get enough end product from him. He tended to slow the attacks down by holding onto the ball too long as well.

I wish Amrabat good luck in his next venture.

Good move for the player and for us . For all his work rate 2 assists and no goals in 46 appearances not good enough I'm afraid.

The 25 man squad registered with the PL and on their website has Amrabat in it so it's the latter scenario.

If that's the case then it's a mess up by the club. Inexplicable really. So we'll only have a 24 man squad. Ever since Zarate joined there was talk he wanted to go back home, so that could be the reason for his exclusion. He's had a career threatening op as well, so may not be quite the same player we first saw when he arrived.

No doubt all will be explained in time.

If you scroll to the bottom of the article with the squad list on the official Watford website there's an explanation which suggests the squad list will be amended.

Yes, he came, and he tried - and far harder than some others in the team, He battled back well but struggled when presented with poor movement and few options in front of him. But, he didn't shirk from responsibility, didn't hide and didn't stand around moaning - he just did his best.

No, his best isn't good enough for where we want to be (top half), but there are a few players in our 25 that I wish had put in somewhere like the same effort as Amrabat in their time with WFC.

    I wish him well.

  26. His passion energy and commitment is beyond criticism, but the top half of the prem you are amongst the ~50 best teams in the world and need one of the ~50 best right wingers. That's not him.

I really wish him the best of luck.

    I've got no real complaints.

'Battling' seems to be the word most apt for him, which always struck me as a bit unusual/refreshing out on the wing.

Frustrating end product more often than not, but quite often a lack of options/movement from our forwards didn't help.

No one could ever accuse him of hiding and he suited the dogged/physical/dour style perfectly. Comparing him with recent signings that cost far more is unfair.

Best of luck to the bloke

I do slightly worry that we will miss his ability to hold onto the ball. That helped us stay in games, but tended to help us less going forward.

But just as we think our forwards would do better with better service our wide players would do better with more mobile forwards. In that respect he has been a little unlucky, he hasn't often had great runs to aim at, not that he would have always found them.

Yes maybe the same could happen to Richarlison but at the moment I have feeling of excitement when he gets on the ball in an attacking position that I haven't had for most of the time with Amrabat. Agree he has only played 3 games but he does have the benefit of age on his side which makes me excited of his prospects.

I have previously acknowledged that Amrabat has made good crosses last season that could have been assists if his colleagues had made the most of them. I don't know whether I have cut Amrabat slack or not, but I like to think I have formed a balanced opinion of him in regards to his consistency and that we can upgrade him to improve the team as he's on of the weaker components. . I think the same with our central defence. I haven't been vitriolic in my posts as some others have and always get behind the team including singing Amrabats name at various away games.

    Am I being too defensive?

I don't feel strongly either way and agree with most points put by most posters but wouldn't most wide men struggle with no movement or options in front of them ? Isn't the main objective then to keep hold of the ball which he did pretty well ? I do think he suffered from our limited lumbering striking options last season.

From my understanding of it, there was a deadline for the club to meet with regards to submitting the 25 man squads which was around 4pm (or maybe earlier). They therefore felt they had to include Amrabat in that one (because maybe Zarate is still "technically" on the injury list) but they knew he was off (he wasn't even here yesterday when we played a behind-doors friendly against Millwall so the club must've known). Omitting Cathcart is understandable but the question then comes up as to why we haven't included Zarate in the squad. That's probably for one of two reasons- we're appealing to the PL to include Zarate when he's technically off the injury list or he's also going (there were rumours of him going back home and the Argie transfer window doesn't shut until the 17th).

If it is the latter, then we're banking on Success and Carrillo to do better than what Amrabat did...
