That was really unusual. None of them yesterday looked like they were on purpose, and they could have all been missed, but the one at Forest was really odd. Who knows what he was thinking!
Classic Quique square pegs in round holes. The player says himself he's a winger, he s played most of his career as winger. Radical idea , but whydon't we just play him as a winger
Because the player is perfectly capable of playing anywhere the coach wants him to and we don't play with wingers in the current formation? You say 'classic Quique' like putting square pegs in round holes has been a total disaster and hasn't got us to 9th in the league. I can only assume you mean Abdi out wide is the square peg in a round hole because I can't think of any others, hasn't that been awful for most of the season
Because it would mean changing the whole setup of the team. Seems slightly unreasonable. I expect QSF will experiment with wingers once we're safe and/or in pre-season.
It does beg the question if we can get 9th playing people out of position, where would we be if we played them in their preferred position. I remember my school days and this would be a formation of 11 strikers all in one big group following the ball round the pitch.:]]
Paredes was played in the attacking 3 earlier in the season. So was Layun... And playing Olare anywhere in fairness is 'square peggin' lol
Amrabat put himself about a lot, but was very soft in the tackle (despite giving away a lot of free-kicks). Suarez looked a lot more up to speed than in his cameo at Spurs, but what puzzles me is why Sunderland and others can sign players from abroad who hit the ground running, but our foreign signings all need a period of acclimatisation. I used to think it was because Florrie is unduly cautious, but Suarez and Amrabat have clearly been pitched in when they weren't ready.
Which game were you watching! I rate the guy, but he was rightly hooked at half time for a poor performance
Trouble is a lot hit the ground so hard they bounce straight back up into outer space and tend to leave their club within a year, remembered only for a purple patch when they first joined.
I think Amrabat has looked very promising so far. Smart, skilful and deceptively strong. Only two quality saves have stopped him from having two goals in his first few games.
Sorry, I missed out "than". I meant to say he looked more up with the pace of the game at Palace than at Spurs.
Why is it that some peoples response to any kind of constructive critique is to say .........' well if it's not working why are we 9th in the table' Just because QSF and the players have done absolutely brilliantly it doesn't mean discussion about their performance necessarily becomes redundant . Someone can be extremely successful but still have flaws and weaknesses. Take Arsene Wenger, one of the greatest managers in Premier League history , has some serious flaws as any Arsenal fan will tell you .
Hornet 23 , if you think Abdi is the only player to be played out of position this season then you need to start watching some games. UEA , it was stated in the press by the club that QSF wanted to buy at least 1 but preferably 2 wingers in January who could start playing immediately.
Aw bless, the old 'try going to games' argument. Let's see....Anya maybe? Nope he's played wing back and full back before this season. Paredes? Nope, he's played as a wing back so a defensive winger is hardly a huge change for him. Jurado? Played out wide for Spartak Moscow. Maybe you're talking about Capoue starting out wide against Swansea which Quique said was tactical to get Watson, Behrami and Capoue on the pitch? Didn't work no, but I think Quique has earnt the right to experiment a bit. I just found your little dig at him a bit pathetic in all honesty. The guy clearly knows what his players can do better than you and better than anyone on here. The reaction of some people on here when the line ups are announced is laughable.
And then we signed a player in Amrabat who he immediately said he wanted to play as a forward. Plus it was stated in the press by Kevin Affeck surely, not the club?
I think it was common knowledge we were after at least 1 winger to play immediately, and yes QSF did say he wanted to play him as a forward. Which was my original point , no ?
I told you hè can not score ,today against ManUnited hè has 0-1 in his feet but his weakness is better than hem :]]
No i like him Because hè works hard that is what i like and he is strong .. forum members doesent know him better than me i'm here to tell THE true About his weakness Sorry for mine english
Seen him a few games now,I also like his work effort and that he somehow retains possession when you think he has given the ball away but here's the but I don't know if he is going to be a regular under QSF or any other manager at Watford. He doesn't seem to be either a winger or striker to me.Maybe in time we will discover exactly what his best position is or it will be a case of substitute appearances and I will be left wondering.
I look forward to him beating the full back with pace and skill and crossing/ passing the ball onto Deeney to finish with quality and simplicity then.
Absolutely. An excellent option to have on the bench given his work rate and relative versatility, but if we're starting him next season we need to take a (more) serious look at our recruitment. Saying that, I'd be happy to see him on the left and Berghuis on the right at our next game.
Personally I'd switch that around, or at least give them licence to swap during a game to confuse defenders.
http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2016/05/nordin-amrabat-left-on-bench-because-of-liverpool-display/ Firstly not sure what he did wrong, secondly I have to question why Flores therefore decided to name him on the bench.
Does Flores seriously expect us to believe he has dropped a player due to a poor performance in his previous game?
Shoddy treatment from Quique, I know we have no inside track on what the dressing room feel but I can't imagine it's a happy place. If you come into the team and play well it's no guarantee that you'll even be involved next week, certain players can retain their starting places for months whilst out of form and I don't think I've ever known a manager publicly bad mouth his players so much. Vydra wasn't committed, Amrabat didn't do what he wanted, Berghuis isn't ready, Guedioura doesn't understand the system, Paredes isn't up to it, Nyom's lost his "shape". Even if some of those criticisms are justified, keep them behind closed doors, surely?
