Whereas Ivic is potentially exciting and ticks a lot of boxes, his lack of experience and knowledge of English football and the Championship in particular, must count against him. For me Struber makes a lot more sense. He knows the league and has a lot more experience, even though he's the same age as Ivic. That gives him the edge IMO.

Who would that Championship club be? Bristol City? Birmingham (heard Karanka is going there but I don't think it's official)? Surely we'd be more attractive than them, let Bristol City have Hughton

To me, this is the biggest positive of relegation. We'd never have gone for a riskier appointment like these two mentioned in the PL because of the money at stake. I'm genuinely excited about either of those managers joining.

Doesn’t say. Bristol City is the obvious shout unless someone else is looking to fill a spot that is currently taken and putting feelers out - Bournemouth? Forest?

I'd be happy with Struber if he brought Shon Weissman with him from Wolfsberger. Top scorer in the Austrian BL last season with 30 goals in 31 games, 24 years-old, only Haaland had a marginally better GPG ratio. 1 year left on his contract. Scored twice in the EL vs Gladbach. 1 year left on his contract. Would be a gamble still but could be a real hit.

Ivic might know him as well from Israel, albeit Weissmann was at Maccabi Haifa while Ivic was at Tel Aviv.

I'd ultimately be pleased with either manager really, it could come down to which one impresses the most and has the clearest vision for us in the interviews.

Excellent news!! Far away from the early Puel & Hughton reports.

It now says we’ve approached Barnsley. Well done Gino, a quick fix and we can quickly put this season behind us.

When Fulham were promoted to the Prem he had a host of new signings foisted on him that he had no role in recruiting. His promotion side was effectively binned, and Slav was the fall-guy for failure.

    The Watford way, but Thameside.

That was clearly just clueless journos.

The Pozzos still seem to have their fingers on the pulse based on this, which must be reassuring to some.

IIRC the last person we got from Barnsley was Martin Devaney, he got turfed out of the club before a ball was kicked, so we have good form there.

    Would be happy with Struber.

If we got him, I wonder when he would join us. He’s apparently back home in Austria now exhausted from his season’s efforts.

Like refereeing decisions m8. The end of the world when they happen to us and I can't even remember the last time we got lucky.

I don't see anyone getting rid of their manager now, even those who had a traumatic end to last season. A very brave decision by us to part with Pearson despite the short pre-season...

Nearly as good as the head coach whose side completely destroyed the best team in the world 3-0, then

    Very.

Decisions like the QSF reappointment are disheartening because it was so clearly the wrong move. The second half of that mans first spell almost made me fall out of love with match days so seeing him reappointed really made me question Gino & co.

Things like the news today, decisions that look common sense on paper and are the kinda moves you could say “I’d do that!” are reassuring.

Same with management, I loved Joka because he’d make shape changes and substitutions that I was telling my friends “This what I would do in a minute!” Then he’d go and do it, even if you lost that way at least you felt you understood the rational.

Bringing on Cleverley & Chalobah in a total uncompromisable must win game, will never, ever make sense to me.

It says we approached him before the Arsenal game - the Championship was over then wasn’t it?

Quite how that would have panned out had we survived in the PL, anyone’s guess?

It's just something that happens, isn't it? 'Tapping up' is supposedly against the rules, but it's just something to be expected for any player or manager who does well. Can't really blame the clubs who do it, but full credit to Struber who got his head down and focused on the job, unlike a certain other manager...

A change is as good as a rest. I suspect he would view the Watford job as a very big one at this stage in his career. If you get it right at Watford, your reputation is made for life as a coach.

I'd be happy with Struber or Ivic, but also with Paul Cook who's just resigned from Wigan.

  34. Struber plays a diamond 442, we've just spent months playing 433 and I don't believe it's good to change tack every 6 months. Where will Pedro and Pussetto fit in, let alone by some stroke of luck we retain either Sarr or Del... For that reason... the grim looking Serbian bloke who plays 433.

However, if our worst nightmares become true and everyone gets sold except Deeney and Gray, then a 442 is about all they are good for.

If we get Struber we need to go all out to get him bring Shon Weissman from his old club in Austria. A year left on the contract and absolutely lethal in front of goal.
