Music is much more interesting to me if I have a connection to the musicians. I just found out some of the guys I play pickup soccer with on Saturday mornings are in some pretty well known bands. As a result I went to see them play recently and had a great time. Bands were RXBandits and Atreyu. Good fun! I might never have given either band a listen had I not known my friends were band members. I know, I'm a bad music fan. But a good friend!

i watched the tim maia documentary a few days ago and this was one of the easiest songs i think for non-native speakers. the guy is a big fat icon in brazil. que beleza

if i understood the documentary correctly, he wrote this song during a beatles-esque conversion to a religious-sect but then decided he loved whiskey, cocaine and ladies too much

 

Katzenjammer.

I'm much more into live music, the atmosphere, the spontaneity, the rawness and the rough edges. It defines the term 'musician' and I'd rather watch bands like this than so much of the sh!te that incessantly gets promoted our way.

Never thought I'd appreciate an all girl band so much but this bunch of talented Norwegians do it for me. Though they're quite big on the continent they aren't quite so well known over here, probably because radio really can't do them justice.

I like it when i'm in the mood, couldn't listen to it all the time though. Have met JME a few times just around in Cuffley! Pretty sure nisman likes it too.

 

Those who do, what do y'all make of the recent happenings? Kanye bringing out most of the grime scene at the Brits. Then doing a back-to-back show with Skepta. Then Wiley and Skepta both signing to Island.

I really like the Dizzee/Giggs song. Glad Dizzee is back in grime.

Skepta's shut down is a great song and Stormzy is a breath of fresh air.

I don't think all the recent support for grime is too late at all it's still a very infant genre that got pushed to the forefront very quickly by Dizzee's success and those looking to make a quick buck

I'm hoping Kendrick's album isn't ****e, his first album is one of my favourite albums but his recent songs haven't been great IMO. What do you all think of Charlie Sloth? I found him quite annoying, but also quite amusing at the same time.
