Replaced by one of Ivic's men? Sad, always seemed like a good guy to have around the place and did whatever he had to do last season dutifully. Best of luck Hayden!

Perhaps has management in his sights or just wants out of this madhouse. Good luck to him, hope he does well.

The statement seems to suggest he is leaving because he has been offered a permanent first-team role somewhere else.

Sounds like he's got a job as a permanent head coach somewhere so worked out well for him.

Real shame but if he's been offered first team coaching, who can blame him? Good luck to him I say.

Odd that Mullins gets a fawning farewell from the club but they haven’t said a word about Gomes, Holebas or Mariappa.

Watford have this evening confirmed the departure of Hayden Mullins, who filled in as interim head coach twice during last season.

The former West Ham United player took over first team duties along with goalkeeping coach Graham Stack, after Quique Sanchez Flores and Nigel Pearson were sacked during a turbulent season that ended with Hornets' relegation.

In a statement posted to the club website, CEO and chairman Scott Duxbury confirmed Mullins' departure.

"Mullins has gone and the world has not stopped turning. Onwards and upwards"

This is what he really said - rather different to the Pearson one!

“Hayden represented the club with great dignity in difficult circumstances,” said Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury of the former midfielder’s work as Interim Head Coach for the Hornets’ first-team on two separate occasions during the 2019/20 campaign.

“His popularity among the first-team playing squad was typical of the respect he earned from all parts of the club during his time here.

“I’m delighted that he’s getting a coaching opportunity at first-team level, and we all wish him every success for the future.”

All the best to him. Came across well and seemed to bring out some strong performances when put in terrible situations even if results didn’t necessarily follow.

Would have liked to see him stay and progress as a coach further here, but think our loss will be somebody else’s gain.

I see I'm not the first. Still. Glad to have this tumour removed from the club.

Is this based on a good press or an objective appraisal of fact? I genuinely have no idea how we can judge if he is either. Was his performance with the U23 spectacular or just competent?

More competent than others have seemed in recent years, from my admittedly very limited knowledge.

Decent guy and seemed to get on well with the players. If he wants pastures new best of luck and I hope he can cut his teeth on a big name management role in the future. Take care Hayden, all the best.

Seemed like a nice guy and a level-headed coach. He was perfect for the young lads and helped out the first team in the hardest of circumstances. I wanted him to stay and help Ivic but the quote from Duxbury suggests he’s got a job as a first-team coach lined up somewhere else, meaning he was perhaps still just seen as U23 coach here. Good luck to him, hope it works out.

Hayden Mullins is the new Assistant Coach of Colchester United (Lge. 2). Steve Ball is the man in charge.

Ball himself was promoted from Assistant to Head Coach as recently as July of this year.

That sounds like, best find yourself a job, nothing going to happen for you here in the near future. Hope he is successful in his career.
