This just seems like a case of having two tastes of being involved in a first-team coaching set up and not wanting to go back down to youth level. Last season will have alerted clubs to the work he’s done here so an approach was always going to be pretty likely.

Personally think he should have waited for a managers position but he knows his career better than me!

    Good luck to him.

  4. Quick. So he resigned then I guess for this role?

    Good luck to him.

Scott Duxbury said "I’m delighted that he’s getting a coaching opportunity at first-team level..." in his statement, so it was presumably all agreed.

Are you using a bit of slang there?

But seriously, he's done well for himself getting an assistant manager's job, even at league two level. I'm sure it won't be too long before he's got the top job at a lower league club somewhere.

His departure is a loss for WFC but I'm happy for Hayden. He seems like a top bloke and one who is level headed and who had the respect of the dressing room. He was in an almost impossible job during his two caretaker stints here and the opportunity to be an ass man at Colchester seems like a great step for him. Good luck Mr Mullins!

I don't agree with his decision but I'm not going to be Hayden him for it.

Of his own volition. Has seen and tasted management. Enjoyed it. Probably thinks he can grow more in that role with Colchester. Seems to have good man management skills as well. The very best of luck to him. I hope he does well and makes the step into management as some point. Many have commented he has all the right credentials to become a manager in due course.
