It is a hard position, and Anya played well and Parades was awful. I'm sorry but I don't know how you pick a good performance out of that that one. He played well against Boro but that wasn't good enough Saturday.
There is no doubting it is one of the harder positions to play in, but defensively he is poor and going forward he offers next to nothing. I'm not doubting it is difficult, but that doesn't mean he wasn't poor on Saturday.
That we won two nil restricting them to few real chances suggests otherwise. You seem to forget our position in the table and that Paredes has played a big part in this, who would you suggest in his place?
As I said earlier, some of you must be watching a different player from me. He was a vital part of our attacking play against a team we struggled at times to break down, and in defence he made a fair amount of important tackles and interceptions. As for "playing out of position", I'm not sure what your point is there? We play in a flexible formation that can switch from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 to 5-3-2 from game to game, often within the same game (as with the last two formations). As long as he doesn't let his man outrun him, does it matter that he isn't always in the same position or same distance from the edge of the pitch?
Interesting question. I'm not convinced it's attacking ability as I've seen him play well and be an attacking threat at times over the season. That said, defensively I doubt his ability. Effort...it's too easy (as witnessed on here) to say someone isn't giving it 100% and not putting the effort in, a claim that was levelled at Vydra earlier in the season. So I'm not convinced it is as simple as putting it down to effort or ability. Some players just aren't always suited to the pace/nature of the championship. There was a home game recently when Deeney won a throw in the attacking half, we were putting pressure on and everyone looked at Paredes to go and take the throw and he was half asleep, then trotted up slowly, killed all the momentum of the attack and then took a foul throw. Deeney and others were visibly unimpressed. I agree there is a good player in there, and I know a lot of people got very excited about him after a decent debut (Bolton?) but he's been poor for a while now.
1st choice - Motta, for 4 or 3 at the back. 2nd - Doyley as right-back, Layun as right wing-back. 3rd - Hoban.
In a 3-5-2, I'd want Motta on the right and Anya on the left. In a 4-4-2, I'd want Motta on the right and Pudil on the left. Realistically, in a 3-5-2 we'd have Paredes on the right and Anya on the left, and in a 4-4-2 we'd have Motta on the right and Hoban on the left. I'll trust Joka.
i missed the game, and confess that i haven't read all 17 pages, but just watched the highlights - was there a reason Vydra didn't celebrate his goal?
