Looking into it, though most succesfull hacks are done by those who you trust with you password.

 

This isn't the first time JS has played this game.

I've never given my password out to anybody, allthough i've been hacked before, had to change my hotmail because of it!!!

Looked into it, nobody registered is using the IP address that posted as you, but strangely enough a guest appears to have the same one. I'll watch it anyway just in case.

Most people's passwords are way too easy to guess. In my old office they had a policy to change passwords every month. People simply wrote them down and stuck them under the keyboard

 

That's a nightmare. I must have 20 - 30 different usernames & passwrods as websites, bank details etc all have different policies on use of characters captials and numbers. Imagine the hassle that would be caused, constanly being contacted by people who had forgotten their password as that had to change it once too often.

You can change your ip address, i know loadsa people that can do it

You cannot change it, it's all down to what phone line your on, well if you change your phone line then it changes, but i only have one phone line in my house.

 

what about if you use a different service provider?

I log onto to works network and have a different IP to the one at home?

 

it is dependant on the router / modem / connection (dial up or broadband) as to how you can change IP .

If you have dial up then the ip will change everytime you redial.

With broadband it depends on your ISP (whether they give you static or dynamic IP address ) and router / modem.

some ISP's will chnage your ip every time you connect , others require you to disconnect for a set period of time before re-newing it.

some routers allow you to manually refresh the IP , but this then needs you to reset it !!

it is not down to phone lines , but the individual service providers. It's them that decide whether you have a dynamic or static IP address.

most people on home broadband have a dynamic IP , it is normally businesses and servers that have static IP's

I run a factory and my job is very varied giving me have direct control of all departments incuding IT

I dont just use the internet for games , porn and posting on forums
I also helped to run a chat room that was a break away from one of the miniclip forums a couple of years ago , but gave it up when it became full of idiots .

not a good idea on a works pc , there is always one pompus IT git somewhere that has nothing better to do than report internet abuse.

We were taken over last October by an investment bank and since then our internet usage has chnaged and anyways I wouldnt want to give them an easy reason to ged rid of me if they ever wanted.

 

yes I've only just got over the 3 month preliminary period but still really on trial so don't want to annoy them!!!!!

how did the take over go - in my experience they are never good!!
