Either way just remember it will all end in tears at Everton, Almost guaranteed.

Silva is a confirmed journeyman manager who talks the talk. Everton will be his last job in the UK before he does the rounds in Spain/Portugal.

+ anyone who wears a watch like that is trouble or at the very least dubious. They can't see it yet, in this moment.

His nomadic tendencies and his willingness to jump ship in November are my reservations about him

As far as his work on the pitch is concerned, I don't really have any concerns

Surely his 31% win rate is of some concern to you?

Yes you can argue Hull were a poor team, but the reality is he got them into a position where survival was in their own hands, but then lost to two poor teams.

With us his early success was based on snatching late goals. Towards the end his speciality became conceding late goals.

The run of one win in 11 games with us surely has to niggle at the back of your mind? Injuries can’t be blamed because our new manager took the same squad over and immediately sorted our defence out and got us points in the board.

His terrible run with us could well have been because his head was turned so he sulked and gave up, but that could never be factually proven. There is a distinct possibility therefore that you should be extremely concerned about his work on the pitch.

Man at Esso says there will be no compensation payable but Pickford will join us on Monday for £1.5m and at about the same time MS's family will be found safe and well wandering on a country lane in Oxfordshire.

I'd be most worried about his inability (or maybe lack of interest in) organising a defence. His football was great to watch when everything was going well. A crippling injury list was the biggest factor in our downturn in form, more so
than Everton's approach. What was baffling was he kept setting us up in his preferred way, even though injuries meant we couldn't play that way. A more pragmatic coach would've tried something different to stop the rot.

Hull would've stayed up too had he organised their defence for the last few games when it was in their hands but he carried on playing openly and they took one point out of the last four. He'll be great for you if everything's going his way, but I wouldn't have much faith in him being able to turn a poor run round if you embark on one.

This outcome is closest to what has happened. We would never be able to block Silva's appointment. This has been settled out of court and I would expect WFC to have received at least 4 - 5 million in compensation, maybe more. There would be a non-disclosure confidentiality agreement between the clubs and EPL. We drop our complaint to the EPL and any threat of legal action against EFC. Silva drops any tribunal action against us. That is why we have heard nothing on this aspect and the media probably have guessed as much themselves. Something will come to light eventually. We might also have forced a future rule change to protect the integrity of the competition by formalizing a rule against tapping up of managers mid-season in line with players. So don't expect any announcements by any of the parties involved. End of I guess...!

I think what I find hilarious is the fact that Everton fans are pinning their hopes on him and actually think he will stick around if he does a good job. He may well get them into the Europa League, but the moment he does, he will be off in a heartbeat. The moment a big club in one of top 5 European leagues comes calling, he will down tools immediately and start telling the everton players that he is off to a much bigger club. Then he will make promieses to their best players that he wants to take them with him and cause a scene. Everton have hired a journeyman and that’s all.

I really liked Silva, and was hugely disappointed in the way he conducted himself. We played some amazing football under him, probably the best we have played since our promotion to the Prem and I really wanted Silva to stay.

The bottom line is that Everton shouldn’t have approached him in the first place but they did. They then should have backed off after we made it very clear he is not going anywhere, they didn’t. So whilst it was annoying watching our season go to pot after all the good he started, what does that say about his professionalism? He will do exactly the same to Everton. I’m not nearly as mad at Everton as I am Silva. He could have come out at any point in his press conferences and committed to Watford but he didn’t. Even after Gino and Co made it clear that we want him to stay. We were committed to him, despite his unprofessionalism and gave him a chance to continue doing his job. He refused.

Everton will play some nice attacking football under him, they will concede a lot of goals from set pieces. They will be more exciting to watch but no matter how good they do, Everton will always end up being in a lose lose situation with him. Play well and do good in the league, much bigger and better clubs out there than Everton come calling, he is off. Results don’t go their way/have a lot of injuries, Silva gets fired and they pay more millions in compensation. Either way, it will end in tears for Everton. The only way it doesn’t is if they continue to be the side that finishes 7th-10th which have been for years. However that’s not good enough for Everton, so tears it is.

Good post, not sure I agree with best football since promotion, although it was the most attractive to watch with brazilian wonderkid and dynamic french midfielder flying. In hindsight a draw against hopeless WBA wasnt as good as it felt after the last minute goal.

You're right about the no win scenario, he might stay for a few months or couple of years but hes not long term. I can't see him getting past January, he might not get back to Vic if we get them after xmas!

Also note theres 3 former managers in the league next season, Silva, Dyche and Jokanovic.

If I was an Everton fan I’d be deeply concerned about why he wanted to leave us so quickly, and that links in to his performance on the pitch.

He’s a young manager with a good 20+ years ahead of him. Yes he could’ve left us for Everton doubled his salary and had better prospects, but if he had confidence in his own ability and any sort of ability to think longer term, then he could’ve just knuckled down and asked for a move at the end of the season.. or dare I say it, at the end of his contract a year later!

It’s not like he’s a player who might only have a 10 year career, with maybe two or three years within that at their peak.

To me there are two obvious explanations, he is simply brainless without the ability to think longer term, or he doubts his own ability (as many of us now do after he won 1 in 11) and wanted to cash in while he had the chance.

Everton tried to keep it quiet, it's not everyday the vagrant living outside their ground is promoted to the the Head Coach position so quickly, when they realised his wheels on his caravanette couldn't be replaced easily, as he had been knocking on their door for many months they decided to take him in!

I think the whole Watford thing really showed a lot a flaws in Silva's personality. Everton fans will be happy, because it's the beginning. Everyone is on the same page and is happy. They will overlook his behaviour because they will reassure themselves, he did the dirty on Watford in order to get to their wonderful club.

But it will not take long to unravel. He has a habit of moving on quickly, using clubs as a stepping stone. If Everton think this is Silva's final destination, then they will have a rude awakening. He will either be useless, which I think could be the case as he cannot sort out a defence, and will be sacked.....or he will actually be good, therefore a bigger club will come calling and he'll do exactly the same thing to Everton as he did to Watford. I think it's highly unlikely he will get anywhere near to completing the 3 year deal he's just signed.

For Everton, Silva is a risk. He couldn't stop a big decline in Watford's form. He didn't set out the defence to deal with basic problems. He never produced a good home performance. He had a couple of good away performances, but that's about it. He got Hull energised, but then so did Darren Moore at West Brom. What is also overlooked is the complete collapse Hull had in their final 3 games....1-4 at Palace, 0-2 home to already relegated Sunderland, and 1-7 at home to Spurs.

I think he's one of those coaches who seduces the media. He's good in press conferences, and talks a good game. He does have an ability to make people believe in him, which is a skill that has got him where he is......but there comes a time when his record has to be looked at. People are making excuses for him for Hull and Watford, but if Everton start slowly, I think he'll be under big pressure. He might well be the next big thing, but I think there's enough evidence to suggest he could well be a bit of a phoney as well.

Silva will play himself but leave roughly 32 minutes into the film when he's offered a part in a new movie which has a bigger budget and co-stars more well known than those he was currently working with.

The Hull bit - not really. Their team was shocking and it was impressive that he got them to the point where they could have stayed up. They way they threw it away wasn't great, but you're really focusing on a couple of games specifically there, where you need to look at the whole.

The run with you is really the only black mark I see on his copybook as far as what happens on the pitch is concerned - if Everton had anything to do with that, I think it's a slight concern (but more about his character than anything else), not sure you can really say for certain that injuries played no part in it though

Watched your game against Arsenal under Silva at Vicarage Road and thought you played very well, that's just off the top of my head

Plus that 3-3 at home to Liverpool on the opening day was a good performance IMO

No....the Arsenal match, Watford were poor for an hour. Woeful finishing from Arsenal prevented them being out of sight. Then he brought on Deeney, who roughed up Arsenal a bit, and it turned the game. We got a soft penalty to equalise, then scored with the last kick. It was a great win, but not a good performance. Again, the Liverpool match was a good result, but the defence was all over the place. The first Liverpool goal was a good one, the final two were purely down to pathetic defending. But, I don't need to tell you this, you'll witness it yourself next season.

He had a reputation of being strong at home, but he only won 3 home games at Watford and the football was terrible to watch. It really showed him up when Gracia turned up, and the home performances improved dramatically.

You'll be defending zonally, so get used to your players not having a clue who to pick up.

I think the injuries produce as many question marks as they answer though. When the injuries started mounting up he just carried on trying to do the same thing week in week out and we carried on losing week in week out.

He refused to try and adapt to the situation, he made no allowances for the opposition at all with the same outcome every week.

With regards to those specific results, Liverpool was the first game of the season which is pretty meaningless, didn’t WBA win their first two games?

We have a great record against Arsenal over the last few years anyway regardless of Silva, we may have played well against them but so did half the league last season.

What about our game against you when we squandered the lead and ended up losing, how was his performance then?

I witnessed a bit of the defending issues in some of your games that I saw, but it's interesting that this was the case as, by and large, he has been defensively sound wherever he has been before

Sure you guys posted this on here when he took over, but this article was interesting about him...

Unlike other modern coaches such as Jurgen Klopp, the Portuguese’s first thought is to keep a clean sheet, rather than to out-gun their opponents. Even at a side with a crowd as demanding of dominating, attacking football like Olympiakos, Silva’s priority was organisation and defensive structure. His main form of attack is counter attack – the Greeks even used to joke that his side were so eager to counter, they would often consider giving the ball to their opponents just to break on them.

Silva's time in the PL has been notable for a very disproportionate record between home and away matches.

At Hull he won 73% of his homes games but 0% of his away.

As HB1 has said, with us he won only 3 at home in total, but his first 3 on the road and 4 altogether.

Without a doubt counter-attack was his prefered style which was why he was successful away from home but struggled at home where there wasn't the space. Which made it confusing at the time that he had been so successful at home for Hull. He really didn't sort out the defence though. The zonal marking was at times comical but i guess could be put down partly to players not used to that style plus some injuries. I doubt big Sam was a zonal man so again there may be a bit of a learning curve.

Yes defensively sound in European leagues. Which as we know is exactly the same as the premier league.
