Somehow we’ve managed to have a more shameful day than Wembley. I didn’t go, but clearly the right thing to do is for those overpaid ****’s to reach into their pocket and reimburse every single fan who went yesterday for their ticket and travel. Like they should’ve done after the cup final. Truly sorry for anyone who went yesterday. Wolves next week is a huge game now - I’ll be worried if we lose that one.
The goals look awful on motd, unbelievable. The Watford players just didn't bother, it is almost absurd. There have to be actual repercussions for some of these ****ers, they are poison. Out of the squad, train with the kids until you're ready to give the effort required from a professional footballer. Reading the mealy mouthed interviews handed out so far by mariappa, foster and qsf nothing will happen though. Better give the babies their bottles.
No doubt the Wolves and Sheffield Utd games we’re always going to be more important than City away. We have to win one of those. No point in playing an ultra defensive line up in those games, we need to be scoring the first goal in a game. I would use the Preston game to field some of the fringe players. Janmaat, Sarr, Pereyra, Welbeck (if fit), Quina, and see if we can get some momentum back. We need Cathcart back for the Wolves game, and I would play Kabasele ahead of Dawson or Maps. I just hope QSF doesn’t go to defensive as we just don’t have the players to grind out 1-0 wins.
Well he’s been proved 100% right after taking flack left right and centre. He’s not gloating at you, he’s just simply correct in his analysis.
Swansea ... We need to win both I feel such is our goal difference! Why was Kabasele dropped ? Did ok against Arsenal didn't he? First thing we need to do is actually face the ball from a free kick - even as kids you are told to always watch the ball!!
Probably a discussion for another part of the forum but it's very clear that adults aren't really their intended market, despite what they say. The amount of teenagers drinking these things on the trains/buses during my commute is astonishing.
Maybe but I would happily take 3 now to get the season started. Personal view is that we need to be in touch by January and then bring in some defensive reinforcements.
Absolutely not. No way does yesterday's shocking performance mean that previous "analysis" of individual specific performances, or incidents were correct, any more than a great performance mean that more positive "analysis" in earlier games were all correct. There are some posters that are negative about everything, and then struggle to ever post anything positive when things are going well, almost like they want us to lose. Last week was a classic example. Nath, for 60 odd minutes was scathing on shoutbox throughout the first 60 minutes when we were losing - and I don't have too much problem with that, but then he was silent for the last 35 minutes as we played well, came back, and almost won. 31 shots at goal against a top side, and not one positive post. I don't think anyone minds posters being negative when we are poor, but it is the persistent lack of balance that grates.
I absolutely agree with this. We have a history over several seasons now of playing well at the start, particularly against the better teams, but not scoring. Then the opposition scores, their confidence rises and we can’t get back in it. We need the first goal.
Foster has conceded 18 goals in 6 games, that’s 3 per game, time to take him out of the firing line, and see if someone else can do better! just one of many changes for next Saturday please Flores unless you want to become another statistic!
I don't mind negative posts if they are constructive but there are certain members of this forum who delight in being negative time and time again and become silent when things go well. Don't like doing this but I now have some on my ignore list
The XG for the match was 6.8 - 0.3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall correctly in every game so far this season our opposition have outscored their XG and we've underperformed on ours.
Fair enough. But equally some posters get more worked up at Nath than the hollow gutless cowardice at the core of our squad. I find that equally grating.
Didn’t see any of the match yesterday and stopped looking at Any updates at 5-0 down . I don’t intend to watch any if it either now . Agree that you cant anything but embarrassed by this and something must be wrong if you cab concede 5 goals in just 18 mins ! Quiques selections didn’t seem to help but I imagine he was trying to do something different in the hope of getting a reaction . You can’t really blame him as he has has Less than 2 weeks to coach out the defensive frailties . I do wonder if this is a psychological thing now and that that cup final has ravaged act confidence the players have in getting a result be Man City. Personally I’m going to take the evidence of the arsenal game and move on from this . We can get a result at wolves and that will kickstart our season hopefully . If we were to lose to wolves and sheff utd I really will fear for us though
To the players who represented Watford yesterday Not one of us expected you to draw yesterday, let alone win. We know the wealth of investment and the calibre of players Man City have. What we expected was to be represented with honour, dignity and pride. To strive,to seek,to find and not to yield. You yielded after ten minutes and you Ben Foster would never play again if I were your coach.Even if your way of dealing with that abdication is to laugh it off,it is insulting. Find another way because yours stinks. Does nobody advise these players on how to conduct themselves pre and post match? Are they so cosseted and deluded being as rich as Croesus that they are untouchable? There is no shame in losing,it is part of sport and all should learn from it but that was dereliction of duty to all of us. To the poor sods who travelled. To Mark who sits next to me,who travels from East Anglia to every home match. To Keith who brings Chris down from Chesterfield,in his wheelchair, after a stroke. You trampled on the badge and dignity of our club and surrendered without a fight. There are many amongst us that believe this team will be relegated. Do you care enough for your own professional pride to avoid that? Show some mettle and Gino, cancel some contracts if there are any inklings of a repeat.
We have absolutely zero confidence against the top sides in this league - City and Liverpool in particular. When you have confidence players naturally run harder, jump higher, take responsibility and can run through walls. I do not subscribe to the view that the players don’t care, but there are mental issues there. We had a poor record, last year, against the top sides, and that has carried over to this season. If you go onto the pitch believing you will lose against teams like City, they will punish you. QSF talks about building a team with a strong mentality, and yesterday showed he he has plenty to do in that respect - otherwise there will be more of the same against the big teams.
Oh he won't do that. On here anyway. As that would be admitting he's wrong. Which he never ever ever ever does. Even when he is. Which is most if not all of the time. Make it personal as it's a helpful distraction from reality. There's a few around here that are like that. They infest the political forum mainly and live in a complete fantasy world.
I asked do you goto the games? Many fans were anxious before the season started ad they knew we were a poor side. It seems that some fans on here are blind and the Watford board ignorant of what was happening. Complacent is the word used. That relegation wouldn't happen to us. The anger, disbelief and sheer frustration by the fans on here is justified. Yes, you also said justified. You don't like it, your choice. To slag other members off weakens your points. P.S. l have been to many games, home and away. From Division 4 to the Premier League. It does not make me any more of a fan than someone who has seen 1 game.
I don't agree. On this forum everyone is equal. History is just history. It has past. I don't agree that season ticket holders have more rights. The 'Homies' baffle me.
Really? Or just more wealthy, or better located geographically or one of a dozen other reasons a person who supports the club does not go to as many fixtures.
I've always viewed those who criticise others for not going but were able to watch the whole game as just venting some frustration. Must really grate on those who have spent £50+ to go and see us get ****ed by the likes of West Ham.
You really agree someone who has been to only one game is the equal of someone who has seen us across all the divisions over a number of years? Give over. I’ll be the first to agree the ‘I’m the best fan’ stuff is tedious. Best avoided altogether.
A reply to Gary Lineker's MotD twitter post summarised it for me. 'The billionaires club taking apart a minnow is about as enjoyable as watching paint dry. The PL couldn't give a toss, but it's not entertaining or interesting.' As a lifelong Watford fan with over 1,000 matches under my belt I learnt a long time ago to take the rough with the smooth. I'm not setting myself up as a better fan than anyone else, it's just what my experience tells me. Yesterday hurts and was a bit embarrassing , but we'll get over it. I think QSF is right when he says there'll be no punishment. I don't think it would serve any purpose other than to satisfy the miserable, preening, 'told you so' brigade on this form (Nath, et al). There was even someone who claimed it was the darkest day in Watford's history! Fwiw my opinion is that GT's sudden death was our darkest day. What I don't get is the way some are demanding that heads roll all over the place. From being 'In Pozzo we trust' we now have public enemy no.1. Elsewhere we have blame thrown at QSF even though he has just taken over a team that is struggling with confidence and, defensively, quality. Some are calling for Foster to be dropped - but apart from the penalty, could he really be blamed for any of the other goals? Our defence is poor, everyone knows that, but would throwing them all out and replacing them with squad players really solve the problem? Also ridiculous is are the complaints that those brave enough to face the cameras after the match get slated for not showing sufficient remorse. Foster was right - we were woeful but City were breathtaking. That's what money buys you, the best players and the best manager in the world. We haven't got that type of money. What else could Foster say? As for his smile - ever heard of 'rueful'? As for the claim that Doucoure and another were wanting to swap shirts with Aguero etc after the match - is there actually any hard evidence of that? Or a misinterpretation by an angry fan looking to find something to justify a 'and another thing...' rant. As for the constant deriding of so-called happy clappers (in reality - fans who actually like to support their team positively) and the Wembley flag-wavers (the vast majority of our fans on the day showing some solidarity with our team who were being thumped) what's the point? Just because we don't all support the team the way that the miserablists do, doesn't mean we are not real fans. So Nath and his bunch of 'sitting in the dark corner of pubs hunched over their glass half empty pints' fellow sulkers can just do one - although I suppose they'll just come back with a Millwall-like 'no-one likes us, we don't don't care' retort whilst continuing to trip over their bottom lips. We're smarting, but at the end of the day, it's only a game of football. I want our club to succeed but know we are not entitled to success. We might get relegated this season, we might not. I think we will survive and yesterday will be a reality check for the club. Life goes on.
