Indeed, we can't let it go and they've forgotten all about it:

    etc etc, idiots.

  2. Sorry I don't see that anyone has been negative in this thread.

Last year most went overboard with optimism and cheering every new player, excuse me for being a bit more cautious this year.

Is Dyer a good championship player? Yes.
Does he have experience we badly need? Yes.
Is he a good acquisition? Yes.
Is he any better than others in the squad at wing or wing back? No.
Is he a game changer in the way Abdi or Vyds can be? No.

Am I pleased we have him? Yes, cautiously so.

Do Leicester fans genuinely hate us now? Hahahahahahaha I didn't realise they'd taken it THAT badly. Christ on a bike, that's brilliant.

    Our current wingers/wing-backs:

    Anya
    Pudil
    Murray (?)

If we're playing 3-5-2, I think Dyer would be a better option than Pudil in most games. If we're playing wingers, I think Dyer is a better option than Pudil, Murray and possibly Anya.

Great signing, stays fit, pace, an eye for goal and most importantly by all accounts a great attitude.

Murray played wing back away at Bristol City last year. he definitely isn't one.

Lloyd Dyer is not a wing back. End of.

If we've bought him with the intention of playing him as a wingback then I'm concerned.

We had good players in the side when we played so diabollically against Huddersfield and Charlton earlier this month.

I'm pleased with this signing, but it comes with the caveat that I hope it's one the Head Coach has had a say on and approved, and I hope he will get the best out of Dyer, something he sadly hasn't yet managed to achieve with everybody. It's become evident over the last few weeks how important character and attitude is, alongside skill, and Dyer certainly appears to be a good pro.

Nothing odd really. Just a bunch of tnucs..the lot.

  11. I'd also add... if Sannino really does prefer 4231 (442 dbl 6) then Dyer is a good fit, but it's not then clear how Fessi fits in (or even a Vydra), the front man needs to be a complete forward (Troy) with a playmaker behind (Abdi) with a winger each side (Anya, Dyer).....

If Sannino can't make room for Fessi then he can ***** right off as far as I'm concerned

Perfect signing, and there's more to follow, real mixture of quality foreigners and homegrown experience.

Hi lads, Leicester fan in peace (hopefully no abuse lol)

On Lloyd Dyer, your getting yourself a very good player and honest professional.
6 years with us and been terrific. A lot of our fans want him to stay even though he may be a bit part player next season as he can be a match winner.

I understand we'd offered him 1 year and he wants more commitment. Fair play to him but surprised he's not given the Premier League a crack.

Wish him all the best though and im sure he'll be good for you

If it is 4-4-2 double six, then this could very well be the team we'll see:

The CB could very well be Hoban (who I think might do a decent job if he was bulked up); alternatively it could be someone else. The CM position has to be someone who's a mobile but strong holding midfielder, who can pass the ball a bit and (more importantly) goes into 50/50s and wins the ball without fouling. Unfortunately, that rules out Battocchio and Muzza (unless something happens to them in pre-season) but could possibly include McGugan; once again this could be an entirely new player. As for the striker, it could be anyone from Fessi, to Vydra (if we do get him) or someone else. I don't think Ranegie would work in this position and I have a feeling that Fessi might not either (but I hope I'm proved wrong).

A good signing but a 3 year deal for someone who is almost 32?

  18. Oscar calling

Age is just a number, just look at Ryan Giggs. If it was the only way we could secure the signing then it might be a worthwhile price to pay, and better than all these crap loanees we have had in the past such as Briggs and Mceachran

  19. NathWFC

    NathWFC First Team

Unfortunately for every Ryan giggs there's probably about a 1000 players that won't last at a high level until anywhere near that long.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a decent signing, I just find it slightly strange we've given someone of his age a 3 year deal, especially considering his game is based around pace, which at this stage of his career is now going to start to wane.

  20. King Dev

Love these indirect comments aimed at me. Didn't say he's a bad player now, said what everyone is thinking and he'll be awful once the pace goes and listed his weaknesses, but his (current) pace overrides almost all of them. Does that make me a 'strange fan'?

I've scored from 20 yards with my left before, does that mean I'm two footed as well?

    Silly justification.

We may have only got him because we were the only club to offer him three years. I'm pretty happy that it's a gamble worth taking

  22. THT81

    THT81 Squad Player

You've got the wrong end of the stick. It does show that your comment that he can't use it "at all" is silly, as is the fact you've clearly relied upon your mate for all of your opinions. Believe me, he's technically decent, not a hit and miss infuriating winger that you can get in the FL, like Adomah.

  23. Jellyman

    Jellyman Squad Player

He looks to me like a very athletic player, and certainly the sort who could keep going at least until 33/34.

The main benefit of a three year contract to me is that even if he does wane, it never hurts to have an experienced professional in the dressing room. Eustace hardly played last year, but I've read lots of quotes about how important he was behind the scenes.

I'm not saying he's going to be our new Eustace, simply that even when his impact on the pitch diminishes, he'll still be able to make a positive impact on the training ground.

  24. Hornet23

    Hornet23 First Team

I don't think he'll be awful without pace. I don't know why you're ****ting yourself that after one year his legs will effectively drop off and he'll have the acceleration of Chamberlain? Footballers do yoga and all kinds of stuff to look after their bodies, Dennis Rommedahl played for Denmark in Euro 2012 when he was 33/34 and he was still rapid!

  25. King Dev

    King Dev Squad Player

Yeah I plainly have, he bangs on about how he's pretty garbage to be honest but lots of pace. "Useless unless he has space to run in to" were his exact words this morning. We shall see!

True, it's a big risk though to expect that sort of thing though right?

  26. THT81

    THT81 Squad Player

Well if you're mate is right I'll chew my testicles off because I couldn't disagree much more and I've seen him a decent amount. I know he has too but that doesn't replace a poor judgment on players.

So, we sign a player who was a regular in a team that comfortably ran out winners of the league last year (for FREE!), only to be replaced by an exceptional player in Mahrez. Yet people still complain?! Brilliant signing in my opinion, here's hoping for more of this calibre!

  28. Malteser

    Malteser Squad Player

Maybe the 3 year deal is a bit of a smokescreen anyway..not all the players we ever sign for 3 years stay that long.

You could argue the MOST important season for us is NEXT season.

Dyer would certainly seem to be a very decent acquisition for then.

Not much use worrying about 2016-17 right now..that will take care of itself!

Saying that, I've spoken to him previously - he's a top bloke and would be an unlikely candidate to start an uprising in the dressing room.

So, in your experience of watching sport, winners are only content to win once?!!!

Even the Man City players fired themselves up to win the title again, after admittedly a season in between when they may have rested on their laurels.
