Not against him going as such. But thins the squad further, and whatever his weaknesses at least he can cover a few positions. Definitely need FBs signings. Forget Mapps let's get Gibbs and Robbo back.
Actually thought he was a bit wasted there but sure, can cover in the short term. But it does commit us to three at the back as there's no-one else in the squad you feel could even do a job for a few games, like Hoban last time in the Championship or Britos a couple of times in the Premier League (ok, one of those times was the Knockaert red, but still...!).
Don't care about Femenia himself, and hey, it'll help us financially a bit, but Jesus we're thin down the wingbacks now. If Ngakia or Sema get injured...Sierralta and Stevenson?
If he goes, and the current news around Troost-Ekong staying at Udinese until next week proves true, that’s yet another sign of muddled thinking from the owner. Udinese have an injury crisis at the back so hold on to their player until it subsides. We have a real lack of FB’s and we decide it’s fine to get Femenia gone. Mind you, whatever horrific player L*ton have in line to play would have smashed weak Femenia all over the shop, of that I have no doubt.
Tbf the centre backs are probably our strength at the moment, we could get by without WTE, but we're VEEEERY thin without Femenia. Must be a case of being unable to buy anyone until we sell
Or when flicking through the little black book of Udinese LB's, the only player available to us is Zeegelaar. Not even Gino would contemplate reversing that transfer.
Leventhal saying Getafe only offering loan with obligation to buy. Valencia, Eibar and Alaves all interested.
By the sounds of it, it's not done yet at all, hold on bedwetters (who I know are obviously so keen on keeping Femenia lol)
Bedwetters and Clappers have a similar problem. Bedwetters generally dislike the players, but also dislike the regime, so feel compelled to moan about them being sold. Clappers like the players, but also support the regime, so have to find a positive in them being sold.
Also same like he had always been pretty committed to the cause, or at least a total professional, contrary to some reports / rumours that he was trying to force a move.
Sounds like he was never agitating for a move so he was probably genuinely ill. Not his biggest fan (I don't think he has many on these boards lol), but he's someone who can play on both sides and should be better suited to wing-back and the Championship, so that's good I guess
I think he’s plenty good enough for the Championship - his issues come at a higher level. If he can somehow improve his crossing, he’ll be another decent player to have around.
Glad he's staying. Having someone who can fill in at RWB and LWB is a big bonus. Will shine at this level when selected.
I'm dreading the day I see his name on the teamsheet. He's far to weak to be a defender, positionally gets caught out far too easily. Ngakia has so far outshone in every way.
I think he would be a useful squad member especially for his versatility, though more as a bench option than a regular starter.
Indeed this would be an unexpected bonus to have Femenia as a squad option in the Championship. Should fit the system well.
Our full/ wing backs aren’t going to play every game this season. Kiko can cover right or left and I think he will be pretty decent at this level. Glad to hear he’s staying.
I'm happy to support any player that wants to be here. I agree he will be helpful to our cause and Vlad may improve him.
personally think he will be a useful squad player for us this season, particularly if a wing back picks up an injury.
I'm with you on this one. Attacking wise I reckon he could be a fine player (although certainly not better than what we already have). Defensively he is a nightmare and nothing short of a liability. Even at Championship level I don't trust him, he has shown time and time again that he will be caught out of position several times per game and I definitely haven't forgotten his unforgivably pathetic displays after the restart last season.
A different type of defending. Any manager worth his salt would target Femenia as the weak link. He would get bullied and go into his shell. An absolute liability. But as @Grrwood mentioned attacking wise he can link up nicely on occasions.
Kiko will be class at this level playing as a WB. Even at PL level he can be a great WB. Full back he is probably Isthmian League Division One South level though.
Good cover being able to play on both sides, and whilst caught lacking positionally last season on a number of occasions, pleased it looks like he's staying. Have always thought he'd be better played further up on the right, so maybe we'll get to see that at some stage depending on how flexible Ivic is with his systems.
Agreed I like him, good going forward, got some pace, good technically (neat and tidy!). I hope he does stay. Defensively I think he is not as bad as some like to make out but also not that strong, however, he won't be facing Sterling, Zaha, Mane etc.... this season and I think he will fine. I thought he was OK in the Prem so he will be more than good enough for this division, as shown not very fit against Sheff Weds.
He can't cross and he doesn't score goals - I don't really see the point of moving him back to the wing. His end product wasn't good enough to play further forwards, which is why he was moved back in the first place.
Sorry, but using the words ‘stay’ & ‘going’ next to each other is just TOO confusing in the current climate on this board.
Wasn't for one minute suggesting he should be our first choice winger, but he's definitely more suited to the wing-back role offered in the 3-5-2, and should Ivic want to play with wingers, he can provide an option there too. Given the volume of games, I think he's a good asset to have on the books in the Championship given his versatility, particularly as an option off the bench. I can't see him getting close to Ngakia (based on what I have seen so far) on the right.
