    Take your pick.

I take we want the following to get a result today:

QPR (2-1 up at the mo')
    Charlton
    Yeovil
    Sheff Wed.

It's not too much to ask, is it?

EDIT: Braintree's goalie just sent off. :sick1:

Even I'm starting to be sucked into this delusion. One of my friends keeps going on about if we win this and these teams lose that etc. First we need to win today, then MAYBE there's a SLIGHT chance we could sneak in.

Delusion. Why- because we forget to think of our lovely ability to hold a lead in the final 10 minutes

We'll get playoffs, trust me lads.

For a few minutes yesterday I dared to believe

Shame we are that game in hand behind. Had we played and won it we all would have felt that little bit close to that playoff spot which could have pushed us on that little bit more. Oh well.

Nothing wrong in dreaming until its mathematically impossible. But.. some people make it sound like its a god given once we get ourselves in a slightly promising position.

We are just one club among many who are trying for that last play off spot.. and we are far from favourites.

I don't think anyone on here has been that confident, but look at just our last few games against Blackburn, Burnley and Millwall. Six points lost just there. And how many points are we behind sixth?

Would you choose promotion or Luton staying down this late?

It's easy to say it now, but as I've said, it could have and probably should have been so, so different.

We're still going to win the league.

We'll probably be winning after 80 minutes in all the games - but end up with the 3 points in none of them!

I can see us blasting out 5 wins in the last 5 games and sneaking into the playoffs on GD. We then blow Derby away in the semis 6-2 on aggregate. In the final, we are leading Wigan 3-1 going into the last 10 mins. Needless to say Wigan get promoted.

People say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one .

I think 72 points will be enough for sixth place maybe even 71 if Brighton draw a couple .

If we won our last 5 I think we d sneak it on goal difference .

Do I think we can win our last 5?

No, I don't unfortunately .... but it isn't beyond the realms of reasonable possibility

Four points behind if we win our game in hand.

    That ain't over.

Only if the gap remains at 7 points. And then we won't make the play offs as we'd only have one game left and a 4 point gap.

7 points to make up in 5 games. I like our odds.

    ... and don't forget we've got a superior goal difference and ...

    errrm ----

....that's worth an extra point ... or was it half a point .... or ..... er .... I think I've gone back in time to 12 months ago ... ;-)

  24. Can't really see past Brighton with their run-in. Which is really galling seeing how bad they were.

I think it'll be Reading's. They are pretty good when it comes to the end of the season and know what it is like and needed to get through the playoffs. However, Wigan will be the ones to win it. Going to be a tough division next year.

Very unlikely to do it, there's got to be one team above us that has a little run of 10 pts in 4 games or suchlike. But I've always maintained that that you've got a chance when games remaining is around the same number as points behind. Even 2 or 3 points behind with 1 game left is possible.

The point about that game in hand is spot on. I wish we were playing this week so we would know exactly where we stand as if we won it 3 points would make a big difference as we would then be only 4 points off 6th. We have to make up a minimum of 1 point by the time we go to Charlton to have a chance. I wasn't going to bother with Charlton but have a feeling I may end up going. By then end of the Easter weekend we will know one way or the other. 6 points and you never know!!!

The way I see it, is there are going to be many more twists and turns. I would have thought after all the late goals and points we've dropped this season, especially in this latest run, our playoff chances would be zero. However it's not.

Win our game in hand and it's just 4 points to make up. We've got to play one of our rivals, Ipswich, on Saturday and a win against them really puts us in the mix once more. It's clear we will have to win every match, and that may still not be enough, but we're remarkably still in there fighting.

We have a great run against Ipswich. Only losing to them last season to a last minute (who'd have thought that?!) Chopra goal. With our home form I'd be confident of at least a draw against them.

    Prediction -
Reading, Brighton, Ipswich, Bournemouth, Blackburn all finish on 72 points.
So do Watford who finish 6th on goal difference.
Wigan win play off final against Derby.

I think our season is more about ruining other teams play off hopes rather than trying to resurrect our own. Other teams will be showing interest in our results vs Ipswich, Derby and QPR

    Errrrm....

    Blackburn DRAW
    Bournemouth LOST
    Bolton DRAW
Brighton DRAW (LOST would have been nice?)
    Reading LOST

...That's quite an "alright" collection of results for us isn't it?

Yes - but we do have to win tomorrow and with Brighton having Blackpool and Yeovil at home probably the next 2 as well..
