1) From Tribal Football - Not the best Watford's style of game is being blamed for Steve Kabba's problems since his move from Sheffield United in January. A source has confirmed to the Sheffield Star that the former Blades hero will be allowed to leave the Hornets in the summer. "It's true," said the source. "Steven looks likely to go. "Apparently the club don't feel as if he's the type of forward they need. "Steven's been informed that they thought he liked the ball played over the top to run on to whereas actually he prefers it played to his feet." 2) From the Rumours on BBC Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws is keen to sign Watford striker Steve Kabba. (The Sun)
I think u have to give these players time to settle but Kabba has looked a bit lazy but is that because a lack of games because of his injury? Plus if we have Marlon back next season if he doesn't leave and Hendo with him up front we have Priskin, Kabba, Hoskins, Ashikodi also Bouazza but he will mostly play on left. Could be good move for Kabba to leave to get more games, but if he performs more to our type of play everything could change.
I would go as far to say only a bid of 2million and Kabba would get Brunt, but I would still do that, especially if Weds really want Kabba, they might stop negotiations with other interested parties such as Charlton etc and only negoiate with us
Very sweet left foot, great shooting and crossing ability, not blest with blistering pace but a very hard worker and certainly not a prima donna sort
he is certainly in our top 10, but not our worst by a long way. Hasn;t been given a great deal of time to impress to be honest (still not impressed in what he has done so far though). I reckon we will take 350k for him at best, not a great loss. In reply to Drew, Brunt is indeed a left midfielder but not as much as a forward player as Bouazza, If rumours by some posters are to be true though, it is Bouazza who could be on the move in the summer so we would need a replacment
Ture but i like Bouazza, i dont think Brunt will join as though i reckon a mid table team would buy him like Man City.
He so is the worst signing ever half a million for us is alot compared to the rest of are transfers and he has done nothing worth a fiver.
He's one of those that if Ross County came in for him, I'd personal cycle him there-I'm too young to drive. Waste of 500k.
So, our worst ever signing ey? I'm pleased I didn't completely write him off so soon in the 'King and Kabba' thread, as he showed today that he can still do well for us and could be a very good player (even if he did miss that chance).
Did very well today that is for sure. Don't mind when a player proves people wrong, it just shows he has the right sort of character.
Actually looked interested and willing to put in some work today. A much improved performance. I'd already written him off, but on todays effort he deserves the backing of the fans for a few more weeks.
not knocking him , but im guesing that he has just realised the F.A cup semi final is just around the corner. he played well today , as did the other 11 players on the park. 11/10 to the lads..the proudest day so far this year
Caleb Folan....same price as Kabba except for he works hard and actually manages to put the ball in the net every now and again. I we wanted a cut price striker i'd have looked no further than Folan, although saying that, Jewell signed Heskey so who knows!
I think the problem here that we as supporters dont give players time to come in,bed down and start performing. Can I ask why only a few more weeks? The same happened with Mahon and Gayle,Kabba has jumped straight into a struggling team in the prem and to be honest no one upfront has been truely outstanding, yet he is expected to perform.Next season will see if Kabba makes an impression,he will be fully settled and maybe we will have a settled side. I dont see many saying what is Hoskins up to,near on a million and cant get on the bench,so if the jury is out on Hosks then Kabba needs a chance,we are all to quick to judge players.Support the guy,he done very well saturday because the team was actually creating something for him to feed off.
It seem like you were disagreing with me sorry if i got that wrong. I agree kabba is not good down the middle and i think he is better is a 4-3-3 upfront but out wide.
To me, he seems like a poor mans Marlon King, strong and quick, just without the Kings technique and touch. Granted players need time to settle down and get used to the style of football, but thats no excuse for his lack of effort up until last weekend. I'm all for giving players time, but they need to show that they are willing to have a go, Kabba hasn't looked willing until the previous match. Hoskin's has been out of the public eye so it's natural people aren't questioning him. Not to mention he's clearly been brought for the future and at least had a go when he did play a couple of games. Kabba however was brought for now, and if he's not performing now, any criticism he gets, is in my opinion justified. I say a few more weeks because that will give him until the end of the season to prove himself. Hopefully we'll have Marlon back for next season which leaves us with: Hendo: Proven at Championship level King: Need I describe what he brings to us? Priskin: Potentially a good player, Championship will be easier for him Hoskins: Another one brought for potential, will find it easier to adapt to Championship football Ashikodi: Who knows? could be good could be crap. Kabba: Can't see him being anymore than a back-up striker The other strikers are either proven Championship strikers or players we've signed due to potential. Kabba falls into the middle.
As someone has alrteady said........ Kabba is a poormans Marlon; and thats why aidy bought him, he was hoping that Kabba would slot into the Marlon role IMHO. However, he aint Marlon, and so far it doesn't seem to have worked out how Aidy had hoped, but you never know he might just come good. Imagine if he did and we had the equivalent two Marlons running at the opposition next season, we'd blow them away arty2: arty2: arty2:
I think its unfair to make comparisons between King and Kabba, also I think their is a reason why Kabba looked slow and off the pace.He had not played much for Sheff utd and came here unfit without alot of 1st team games behind him,so he was always going to be off the pace, and fitness levels are far higher in the prem.We know that by how many times we have lost games in the last 10mins. Kabba looked so much fitter against chelsea. Also Hoskins played for the reserves yesterday and reports were that he was woefull and didnt look interested at all. King was not everyone"s cup of tea playing at Forest and leeds, comes here and is a different player.Give Kabba time, and see what happens next season.Competition will be healthy next season, and its up to them all to show what they can do.
next year with a 4-3-3 formation - kabba - hendo - king (or bouzza someone) we would be excellent. of 4-4-2 with bouazza and kabba on the wings pushing up like a 4-2-4 (suits direct play as the balls not ever going to be in the midfield) priskin and smith on the bech ready to come on would scare to shittu oput of any defence
