"Watford are set to sell striker Steve Kabba at the end of the season - only months after signing him from Sheffield United (Daily Mirror)" Clearly made as much impression to the players and Aidy then as he has done to the fans if this story is true!
I think this could be true..... Because didn't Ben say that Kabba was the biggest moaner during his soccer am Q&A session? So knowing how Aidy likes to keep a harmonious camp, he might want him out, if he is not fitting in with the rest of the squad, remember whatisname, the RW we bought in from Cheltenham I think?; and got rid before he even played a competitive game for us. I think he had a punch up with someone on the pre-season tour to Denmark? :fighting2:
Martin Devaney, involved in a row with Jamie Hand and apparently Lee (a fact disputed by Cocos daddy on the old boards).
Devany was it? If Kabba goes it's another example of Aidy's inexperience in the transfer market. Isn't he supposed to research potential buys' backgrounds thoroughly before signing them?
berkshire you are correct in what you say. But lets not loose sight of the desperate times in terms of US as a club not being able to attract the players we wanted. it is common knowledge that the likes of Tommy Smith and Steve kabba were not our first choices by any stretch of the imagination yet at the time they were all we could attract. Aidy does still have something to prove in the transfer market (any manager will make the odd mistake) but had he got no one in as opposed to the ones he did bring in there would have been far more moans. A lot of January's signings are potential for the future, some will come good, others won't.
Not been impressed by Kabba. I’ll be happy if we sell him, but I’ll be disappointed if we release him on a free because then we’d have wasted money. I think we all knew he was just a cheap option to replace Marlon, he was only on a two year contract which hardly suggests he was a long term option anyway
I think I mentioned this on a previous thread. I was told that Kabba was going to be shipped off along with some other flops this season, including Damien Francis, Moses and Jarrett. Some of the older guys are going, like Chambers and Bouazza (big money move) and a host of youth team players are going as part of the new youth structure in place for the next few years. Boothroyd is furious at certain players this season, and Kabba is one of them.
If Aidy is really trying to get rid of Kabba only two months after paying £500,000 for him, it shows two things: a) That we do _horrible_ research and that Aidy gets waaay to stressed in difficult situations. b) That Aidy is man enough to admit a mistake and take action quickly. So, one good character and one bad, then. I for one won't be crying if Kabba leaves. Hopefully we can get back some of the fee we spent. And please bring in someone else (Billy Sharp, anyone?). You keep saying this over and over without any source. I can see Francis and Kabba being sold (if anyone wants them, that is - remember they both have contracts to 2009) and Jarrett has hardly impressed (and his contract is up this summer), but it seems strange that Moses will be shown the door so soon. Also, you keep saying Chambers is leaving, but he is currently in contract talks with the club so surely that will decide whether he stays or not And Bouazza, we know he signed a 3-and-a-half year extension with us in November, so if a Spanish club has arranged a transfer for him this summer the fee must be huuuge. Based on the Ashley Young transfer I can't imagine Aidy settling for anything less than £5M.
I can forgive laziness if they have an ounce of technical ability and a bit of creative flair, Kabba is just a poor mans poor mans Marlon King, The Marlon of the conference if you will.
The spin is that it is a clash of style of play - more likely a clash of personalities. This was a great piece of business for Colin who is a `pretty astute cooky`(and after we gave him Danny Webber too). C/P Striker set for Hornets exit Mon, Mar 26 2007 15:35 Striker Steve Kabba is reportedly set to be offloaded by Watford at the end of the season, despite only joining the club in January. Speculation claims the 26-year-old, who Hornets boss Aidy Boothroyd paid out £500,000 to Sheffield United for during the winter transfer window, is already surplus to requirements with the Premiership's bottom club. It is claimed Kabba has held a series of talks with Boothroyd where it has been deemed his playing style does not suit Watford's and he is therefore no longer part of the club's plans. The report suggests Boothroyd wanted Kabba to use his pace to try and latch on to balls played over the top of opposition defences, while the player prefers it played into his feet. However neither the club or player have confirmed these claims and talk of a departure are premature at this moment in time. Indeed only last month striker Darius Henderson heaped praise on Kabba and felt their partnership could flourish in the absence of Marlon King. At the time, he said: "He is lightening quick and his record suggest he's got goals in him so I look forward to linking up with him."
Sexybadger, I think you're clutching at straws a little with your stories.... kabba and frasncis are obvious departures as both (especially Kabba) have been very poor this year. If youve heard a rumour re Boozer, where? People dont just say big money move.... how much? You're not exactly shedding light on sources and seeing as he's been one of our better if not best performer (bar Fossie) there's a chance he'll be wanted by Prem clubs anyway. Moses doesnt make sense? Why would he go so soon after not getting his chance Sexyb, its about time you started talking cos right now i think youre making it all up. .
As for Kabba, he hasnt shown anything since we signed him... anyone remember any of his shots on goal? Did he get any in?? Aidy said last week in his newsletter that he'd be mocing players on... Francis and Kabba are two i reckon he's fallen out with big time. (where was francis on saturday?) Didnt even play for the reserves. .
Moooooses Ashikodiiiii won't be going anywhere in the summer (well, maybe a loan but nothing permanent). As for the likes of Kabba and Francis, they can **** right off, waste of our time and money, but lets face it, there is a number of players that need to move on at the end of the season. OUT; Kabba Francis Mahon (Although I know some won't agree, it's time for a change) Powell Doyley (Pains me to say it because I do like Lloyd) Jarrett Malky (Retire as a player, keep as a coach) Hoskins?
Guys, I wouldn't lie to you all and wouldn't make up crap. I have a very good source, believe me, but if I revealed who it was he would get in BIG trouble. Ok I can't say all of it will definatley happen because there is still a long way to go until now and the end of the season, a lot of things can change. All the stuff I have said is what I was told so lets just wait and see what happens
Exactly. We can't just offload all these players, we actually have to sell them. Kabba - just cost us £500,000 and his contract runs out in June 2009. Francis - cost us £1.25M and is also contracted to June 2009. Releasing them and paying off their remaining wages (2 years, 2 players, I'm guessing close to £1.5M) is not a very good option. Francis may be easier to sell then Kabba though.
i dont know, we brought Raymon Vega! Kabba is prob Aidys worst, but to his defence he has got the best out of players who have underachieved before so i guess he thought he could with Kabba, looks like Kabba was beyond repair!
My elderly grandad has called him 'Kebaba' since he arrived, due to his inability to pronouce foreign names. I think he's spot on as usual...
Reckon we would have no problem offloading Kabba to a Chamionship side. Just in time to play us next season.
