Most of the people that wanted Vydra back also wanted to keep Slav. Nostalgia can be a powerful emotion.

Both questions have been answered.

Plus he's been at Craven Cottage just short of 3 years. The last manager we had that lasted that long was Aidy Boothroyd. Before that it was GT's second spell.. and before that it was GT's first spell!

 

We'll never know until Gino bites his lip and opens the chequebook and welcomes Matty home. I think we would be in the top 4 now if we had re-signed the Premier leagues best striker (other than Gabbiadini). He was never going to be a good fit at Burnley.

Joker complained that he didn't get a say in signings even before it became obvious that Fulham had wasted their money. He was great for Watford and for that Israeli side he took into Europe, and it's the people responsible for signings and some of the players who should be binned.

I can understand (and share) Vydra's disppointment about not being given a chance in the Prem by Watford, but has already been said, he was quick enough to jump ship when West Brom came calling

 

Out of interest, does anyone think we let Vydra go too...(I’ll get me coat.)

Interesting choice as a replacement. I always thought Ranieri got lucky with Leicester. They had some amazing talent that year and got a winning momentum.

It will be interesting to see what he can do with Fulham.

Feel a bit sorry for Slav.

Gets two teams to Premiership glory & 2 divorces in quick succession thereafter.

His UK managerial career is now seen to be that of a Championship manager that should get you promoted.

Guess he'll leave the UK now for a foreign job.

At least it finally puts 'The Slav' question to bed.

 

He will be first choice replacement for any sizeable champ club who aren't in the top 6 in the next month. Sheff W, Swansea, Stoke, Nottm F....etc

 

I was desperate for Slav to be successful after getting ditched by us.

Sad truth is, you can't concede that many goals and keep your job. Right decision. Good to see Ranieri back, but I don't think he can change that dismal defence.

Mitrovic was Slav's boy. Interesting to see if he falls apart now with indiscipline.

 

Yes quite possibly, but for him the thought of having to go through all that for a 3rd time, with likely a repeat of the same final outcome.

Surely much better to take a managerial job some place in the sun & not have to listen to Brexit all the time. He's got plenty of compo money now.

 

Complete vindication for Gino.

I’m certainly not one of these fans who believes the media have it in for us - but it would be nice for at least one of them to now point out that Gino correctly ‘sacked’ one of his manager, indeed the one he got most stick for. ‘Who do they think they are sacking the manager that got them promoted?!’

Also, we also get broadsides about how we are unethical when appointing new managers almost instantly when we release one - ‘must have been talking to the new manager before they fired the old one.’ I wonder if Shahid Khan will face the same criticism?

Why did Pozzo let Flores go. Got us our highest position, good FA cup run, handsome & well dressed.

Depends on your mentality, Joka doesn't strike me as someone who would give up after the second hurdle.

 

It's one of the most annoying things regarding us. We never sacked Jokanovic, it takes very little research to find that an agreement on a new contract after the end of the contract he had wasn't reached and we parted ways. Simple as.

 

Hmmm. I agree we never sacked him. But I’ve always been extremely dubious whether we entered into meaningful talks about extending Slav’s contract.
