Surprise, surprise. Leventhal’s flicked through his Twitter, had a little view of the forum and seen fit to confirm our interest. https://twitter.com/adamleventhal/status/1352352572179271681?s=21 #WatfordFC transfer update Source close to Rennes midfielder James Lea Siliki confirms discussions ongoing with Watford over loan deal. Would be 6 months with permanent option. Deal not done yet. May remember his cross from left for Sarr to score v Ars in EL ‘19
Sounds encouraging. Can you elaborate a little? Seems to have stagnated a little/dropped down the pecking order a little at Rennes. Understandable considering their growth in stature. Stats aren’t particularly encouraging (although can be a bit hit and miss when lots of sub appearances involved) but the various clips show someone who is dynamic and progressive with the ball, both via passing and dribbling. Would add something quite different to our midfield but by no means a like for like Capoue replacement.
This is how a lot of journalism is now conducted Nath. Serious journalism especially investigative requires money. Or requires hard work say for instance in a particular sport to build up an extensive series of contacts and friends in football be they agents, managers and players and being known for not shooting off the mouth to all and sundry. Adam bless him has not got that network to tap into aside from one or two people behind the scenes at the club. It's just a symptom of the sad tendency of the modern world to grab attention., followers and likes. You only have to look at the clickbait titles on transfer and football news sites. And many people have short memories. I follow ice hockey pretty closely and you see the same thing but I only follow or look at a few reputable scouts and analysts when they look at trades or look at potential draft picks. On a side note are Rennes our feeder club ?
Bit harsh. He wrote an article just yesterday when he gave the inside track on the remainder of the window so I'm sure he'd have mentioned this guy then.... oh.
Apparently more like Doucoure than Capoue in style but they didn't really elaborate other than the fact that 1 said he really likes him and the other reckons he'll do well in the Champ.
Not really anywhere near as bothered about a 'Capoue replacement' as a dynamic midfielder who can progress the ball and move towards our other players to give them passing options, in a way that for some reason only Hughes seems to be able. It's amazing to have him back and we are a different team with him in it, but that is as much a danger as it is a benefit, so anybody to share or, if needs be, take over the burden, would be incredibly welcome.
Nothing but a typical Gino smokescreen! Look at you COG’s lapping up anything Gino leaks to media. All so you can clap, wave your flags at the end of the window and say at least he “tried.” You lot make me sick!! We’re not in for him at all, this transfer will never ever happen. We won’t sign anyone! We’re 11 days out from the window closing. Gino knows he can feed you lot enough BS to get through the next week and a half so that you all think we’re making moves. Fully expect this story to be written up at the end of the window by “ITK” Leventhal stating, we just couldn’t get it over line and ran out of time etc.
The reason is technical skill. Hughes actually has some. If he had a yard more pace he'd be playing for a top half PL side.
Whether he signs or not, the proof will be in the pudding. Let’s be happy and get behind him if he signs, and we can be p*ssed off if he doesn’t. No point getting angry over being linked.
Just seems a parody of his own recent posts. If I recall correctly, @Markoa$ was genuinely livid at the club when Blackburn were *linked* with Crewe left back Harry Pickering (who admittedly would be a good signing.) Maybe that was a joke too?
No that wasn’t a joke. I’m Harry Pickering’s No.1 fan on this forum. We should sign him. Pathetic that we’re not.
Stade Rennais: Lea-Siliki about to join a former Rennes player? 22 January 2021 09:40 - written by Rédaction JF James Léa-Siliki to leave the SRFC Genoa and especially Anderlecht , the 24-year-old midfielder will probably not join Serie A or the Jupiler Pro League. Léa-Siliki could join Isma*la Sarr in Watford According to information from RMC Sport, James Léa-Siliki could join England in the coming days. Indeed, Watford is currently forcing to obtain the loan of the Stade Rennais midfielder . In search of a middle to compensate for the departure of Etienne Capoue for Villarreal, the current fourth in the Championship has therefore clearly set his sights on Léa-Siliki . For his part, the SRFC player would not be against the idea of joining Watford, even if the Hornets play in the antechamber of the Premier League. If agreement between the two clubs, James Léa-Siliki would thus find the former player of Stade Rennais, Isma*la Sarr , who is however announced in the viewfinder of West Ham. Had to add this for the comment of playing in the antechamber of the Premier league....
Just so! 'Announced in the view finder of West Ham' is a phrase I will try and use with the tots at 10,45am!
Would be a very good signing at Championship level this. His left foot is absolutely wonderful even if the other parts of his game are less polished. Would be very impressed if we get this done.
Our side used to rely on the dynamism of Doucoure in midfield. When Doucoure couldn't be bothered for the most part last season, we had no willing runner from midfield, our rubbish strikers were easily marked out of the game and we were easy to contain. Zinckernagel and Hughes providing the creativity and finding attacking runs from Lea-S , Pedro and Sarr sounds pretty exciting.
Nah... "Winter is coming" thou knows... Seriously tho, we've been lacking an athletic box to Box ball carrying CM so it's a yes from me..!
Love that translation. ".....the antechamber of the Premier League...." "....Sarr , who is however announced in the viewfinder of West Ham...."
I think they have done what I do with my translating. After a while if I can't get to grips with it, I translate every single word and then try and reassemble it in some kind of meaningful order. Not unlike someone taking an engine to bits and putting it back together again. Trouble is,I often end up with one word spare, similar to flatpack furniture or something akin! If this fails I just shout at my book and move on to the next sentence or piece. As Wilde said "if at first you don't succeed, give up".
I believe I was once told that if you translate the Phrase "out of sight out of mind" into Russian and then translate it back into English it comes back as "A blind idiot"
