I personally can’t make my mind up on him. Can’t tell if he’s much of an improvement or not. I’ve just seen a YouTube compilation of him, quite tricky and a good dribbler but quite one footed, and some of the clips do have him laying it off on a plate for his teammates and them missing so maybe his assists should be higher.
No worries everyone. I know this guy. He and I go waaaay back. Sit tight lads, we'll get this one over the line. Even if we have to go back and forth somewhat.
Depending on which data site you use - Chair’s xA is 8.21, which is the 6th best in the Champ. Dykes and Bonne both under-performing their xG as well
Sounds fairly promising, even though he surely wouldn't come cheap. Seems to be more of a central attacking midfielder, not quite sure that's our priority this summer, although he can also play on the left, which is an area we need an upgrade in
I think a lot of clubs will be interested. I don’t think we’ll spend over £10m on a single player though. The Giaretta interview kind of gave an insight into what we’re looking to do this window. Not a huge over-haul but the right profiles in every department (Defence, midfield, attack)
Evolution not revolution, then. To be fair, I back this approach and think it might well be the only sensible way forward given our finances but they're going to need a really good hit rate this summer on incoming transfers, something which hasn't always happened in the past...
I think that approach makes sense for most of the squad, but feel like we will be in pretty serious trouble if we don't stump up over £10m for a striker.
Chair on the left would enable Sema to play more centrally and move to his favourite no 10 role. Good move
I think we’ll target U25 players for the most part. If we manage to sell/get rid of Deeney and Gray, it gives us a lot more room to do business, but I fear they’ll hamper us
Looked good whenever I've seen him. I'm in. Also, makes the chant "sit down, shut up" all the more comical.
Would certainly add depth, be a lot of resale value if he excels. I like what I’ve seen of him ( not much) and his stats are good. Yes from me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If we get him for £8mil or less, then it’s not bad. Just doesn’t make sense to pay anymore than that when there are better options out there for slightly more money. Personally think it’s a non starter and just papertalk anyway.
This is a great opportunity to put in a derisory offer. Maybe £750k with add-ons to £1m If Watford stay in the PL
Duh...I was querying the designation of 'one-hit wonders'. They weren't; they had about 8 top 20 hits in the '90s.
I took umbrage at that designation too. Two other top 10 singles, 5 more top 20. Nine top 10 albums, including a number one and three at number two (the last only five years ago).
Na, a hit needs to be memorable & leave its mark on pop culture. I bet if you asked ten people at random to name songs by James, at least nine of them would only be able to name one song.
No, technically a hit is a song that appears in what used to be touchingly called ‘the hit parade’. You’re talking about something else, a more rarified form of ‘hit’, something with so much subjectivity surrounding it, that it would depend on which ten people you asked, and when. Because something that was deemed to have left a massive mark on pop culture 20 years ago would not necessarily be as ‘significant’ now.
One ? I think most would be able to do better than that. Coincidentally the name of a James single with a great catchy chorus from just a couple of years ago .......that coincidentally wasn't "a hit".
