The list of players signed under Pozzo looks a lot better though.

I love the way everyone is suddenly turning on Dyche, I would be really disappointed if he gets kicked out after the amazing job that he's done this season. If the new owner has any idea of what has made us successful this season then he will keep Dyche as manager

Do we really want to be in a situation where it's either the owner (or his son) buying players for us or a 'sporting director' buying foreign tosh? Dyche would be glad to leave if thats how this pans out I'd imagine!

If we sack dyche I would ask for a refund on my season ticket for getting rid of a proper watford and football man ! Zola would be vialli all over again who failed at west ham and chelsea have never offered any sort of role ? I wonder why ? In dyche we trust !

Zola is a hugely well known person in football which will help attract the players Pozzo wants to Watford. This is the one thing Dyche lacks which is likely to go against him.

I'd be very disappointed if they got rid of Dyche but at the same time wish him the very best for the future. Deserves a lot of credit for last season.

Nobody is turning on Dyche. I think most people see the bigger picture of investment and football people in charge of the club. No one person is bigger than the club. We've been waiting a long time for the right owners and if Sean has to go to ensure that the club moves forward then so be it.

Hopefully he'll stay but if he doesn't then I wish him well.

I like the assumption that a big name will be able to do a good job.

Dyche for me was manager of the season by a mile with what he had to deal with. Loyalty evidently doesn't work both ways if he is sacked, it would be a travesty.

    Its a cruel game.
I firmly believe there is no such thing as loyalty in football nowadays, there are very few Nigel Gibbs' out there anymore.
Pozzo will bring in who he likes and if that means goodbye Dyche then so be it.He'll get a job somewhere else on the back of his good work at WFC but it looks like a new chapter in WFC history is about to begin.

No, I wasn't referring to the cash situation I was referring to the fact we finished in mid-table (if memory served me correctly) hardly a good finish to the season considering the players we bought in.

Not so sure it's this as much as just being able to understand the thinking of the new owners behind appointing Zola - should it happen. It would be massively harsh, but the people who buy the club have no ties to Dyche and it's their right to do what they think is best for their club. It would be a huge disappointment because he did a great job, but ultimately it's the money of the new owners at stake here and they are going to do what they think is best for the club. They are successful football club owners and appear to have a successful model, which makes me a little more confident about their decisions.

And let's not act as though Dyche wouldn't take a better job if it was actually offered to him. Either way, he'd probably not be here beyond 2 years. Another successful season and he's off to a bigger fish. Equally, a poor season and his job would be on the line.

Dyche has done well in his short tenure, but he has not yet earned his way out of the team through either success or failure.

Clearly, there is a new set of expectations and obligations now, but I don't think it would be fair to fire Dyche simply to make room for someone else, anyone else at this point.

Fair is not a hallmark of football these days, however.

The new owner has already got two football clubs that as far as i know are not running at a loss and have a decent structure in place. Would you not think he may have an idea on how a football club is run and who he wants in to do that job??

I would want dyche to stay... but it is not our call

I know that this is a debate... but come on the deal has not even been signed yet... let the new owner make a statement first.

I would hate to think Dyche would look at these forums and see some of these comments concidering the commitment he has shown to the club and the job he has done.

Time will tell what happens... not us guessing

If this takeover goes through ( assuming some shenanigans or now to be known as the Baz factor) If they have done their homework and intend to take WFC to the next level , they will see that they will inherit a very close knit group of players that SD has moulded together. If it were me , I would at least give SD till Xmas, I would have thought he at least deserves that. I would also keep the club on its current business model , whilst making funds available to SD .
I dont want a repeat of the vialli era or the simpson boom bust era , Nice financial stability with the odd bit of on field success would make me very happy.

Please Gino keep Sean Dyche it would be a good move:)

And to think all of you are still crying about Malky and Rodgers selling us down the river for a bit of success when the majority of you would appear to be happy enough to see the same happen to Dyche.

To those who would consider this a good or in anyway reasonable action; never talk about loyalty again.

Whats the alternative exactly? Administration? Every couple of months more stories about how we can't afford to survive? Clown owner after clown owner?

I know what I'd take, especially when Dyche himself said 'im an ambitious man' just the other week. I can think of two former managers saying the same thing before kicking us in the balls.

All I want to see from the new set up is stability with Watford not being constantly potless, and not playing in a 3 sided ground. I want to see Watford sign a player, and not constantly lose out to other clubs in the transfer market.

What is it with Watford fans? Seems to me that they always want to be the perenial underdog with the team on the brink of administration. Well, I want Watford to be successful - like they were in the 80's, attracting decent players again. If these Italian chaps are going to facilitate that, then great.

Nobody knows yet what their level of investment is going to be or who they are going to bring in. What I do know, is that with someone like Bassini at the helm, this is not going to be a smooth takeover operation. I am just glad to see the back of old Laurence. At last the good times could be about to come again to Vicarage Road

Administration hasn't been a genuine worry since 2009.

In any case I fail to see why sacking a manager who has worked miracles with us should be seen as a direct alternative to administration.

And Dyche did not say anything about being 'an ambitious man'. What he did say was that he is 'very happy at Watford' and that 'loyalty works both ways' and hence signaling his intention to stay for the forseeable.

Ironically the latter quote I posted seems to be the concept that the majority of contributors to this thread so far and failing to grasp.

Be a shame for Dyche but all new owners seem to want their own man..lets just hope for their sake and that of the club a move if it happens actually works this time.

I think nearly all of us feel a concern for SD here. But, if they do replace him, it might not turn out too bad for him. If he's on a rolling contract presumably he'll be paid a year's salary. Then I suspect it would not be long before another club came along. So financially he might do OK.

Brian Hibberd (65) formerly of the Flying Pickets who then went on to forge a mediocre acting career has died of cancer.

Antonis Samaras, leader of the Party who narrowly won the Greek election (& no relation to the Samaras who plays for Celtic,) has begun urgent Greece coalition talks.

Cricketer Tom Maynard (23) has died after being hit by a Tube train on Sunday night, Monday morning. He never turned his hand to acting so impossible to say if mediocre or not but it may have been easier had his death occured on Saturday Night, Sunday Morning.

    and finally,

Newspaper vendor Ian Tomlinson (47) died at the G20 protest in London in 2009 as the result of a "gratuitous act of aggression by a lone officer whose blood was up", a court has heard today.

All that news alone should keep you going for a while.

I concur. Notes or use of a credit card are preferable to me also.

    No, no, no!

I didn't rate Dyche at first I admit but he proved a lot of those doubters wrong.

I can see Zola coming in, yes but as a more of a director of football role. You may even see Dyche's job retitles to 'First Team Head Coach' but it is imperative that he stays, if only for the first season at least to ease the transition. Pozzi will not be able to bring in a new starting 11 straight away and in fact if he does, it will alienate some already decent players that we have that are good enough to play at a higher level like Mariappa and Murray and all the young prospects as well.

I could deal with Zola at the club in some capacity and his presence might still attract a better quality of player but as already stated on this thread, his signing at West Ham were not impressive at all (did the elusive Savio join under him as well?).

  35. luke_golden

    luke_golden Space Cadet

Ahhh Savio. Think the last I heard he was playing for a club in the German Second Division. I say playing, the reality was that they didn't know where he was because he'd disappeared. But again, I'm not sure it's fair to use his transfer record at West Ham as clearly under Pozzo there would likely be a fairly well tested transfer policy and an outrageous list of contacts around the world to provide players.
