To be fair , he is only saying what we all have been asking for, we all want to batter to Silva, Rich and Everton Rich has always had a bit of diving mentality (we used to highlighted it enough when he played with us), would love to see Rich dive, get sent off and then us win by enough to take us past muff
Agreed. If I was an Everton fan, I'd be passing a copy of the newspaper to the ref as they come out on Monday. Just in case he hasn't seen it.
This isn't a game for Deeney away. Capoue will be a big miss again. Any chance Janmaat could be back? We might as well mix things up a bit. I'd try: Deulofeu, Chalobah, Doucoure, Pereyea, Quina Success as our midfield/forward options.
Winning by enough to overtake Everton doesn’t really bother me so long as we win... ...but then I see if we do exactly that, we overtake them and go SEVENTH. Knocking them from their Top 7 perch. That would be delicious.
I can see it now. Watford winning 4-0, then Richarlison scores a 95th minute consolation, which means Everton will stay above us. Silva runs on the pitch and dances with Pickford in celebration......just to rub it on Klopp style.
Pickford would only spill Silva anyway. And hopefully the greasy **** would smash the grandfather clock on his wrist in the process.
He won't get any stick at all. A bit of polite applause. He didn't leave under a cloud and people appreciated his talent, at the same time realising his flaws were never going to disappear.
No predictions, but Everton are playing well. Football has been largely good. Defensive improvements on last season too. We've even shown up in the games against the top 6, although we have practically nothing to show for it. Where we've struggled most is when teams have come to Goodison and parked the bus. Newcastle and Huddersfield have both frustrated us this season and Cardiff nearly did it too. I've no idea whether you're likely to take that approach, but if you come looking for a point, you'll have a decent chance of getting out with it. If you fancy your chances and have a go, that would actually be better for us in all honesty. Be interesting to see how you approach it.
Our tactic is to get as many corners as possible because we all know Silva’s ‘zonal’ system is a disaster. If it’s been doing better recently, I’m very confident in saying that’s just a blip...
I'd take richarlison getting a career ending injury over a win all day long. Or better, not career ending, just so severe that he comes back nowhere near the player he was. 'Doing a chalobah' if you like.
Started the season v dodgy from corners. Been more or less fine for a while now. Still early days I guess.
Silva is the hated one, with Rich I think we all hoped we would keep him for another season but truth is we can all see the money was to good to turn down, just wish we had spent on one dependable goal scorer
TBH if Deeney is having to tackle Richarlison then I will asking what our defensive players are up to!!
We’re going to lose. Richarlison is going to score. Ssssilva is going to be the smuggest, cockiest arse on the planet. This may actually be worse than the Bournemouth game.
Our fans are an odd bunch. Richarlison downed tools as soon as silva got a titty lip over your approach and did nothing at all for the rest of the season. For some reason he gets a free pass from our fans for this. Of course I wish bad things happen to silva, but nothing bad happens to managers really. (Non fatal) stress-related heart attack would be OK I suppose.
Unlike many can't really build up to getting too worked now about Silva. More importantly we need to start picking up points again but our record on Merseyside over the years is pretty awful. Nailed on for Richarlison to score and a sending off.
All depends how you guys set up. If you defend deep and we play Richarlison through the middle, he can be fairly ineffective. If you play a bit higher, he's a completely different proposition. Still think our lack of a quality striker means we aren't getting the most out of him, but as you all know at least as well as me, he's a real talent. Has a bit of everything. Everton really need a win tomorrow. Lost the derby then followed that up by being really frustrated by a horribly negative Newcastle side. This game comes next and then next weekend it's Man City away where we will obviously not take anything. 3 points tomorrow are really important otherwise we'll find ourselves in a mini slump
In hindsight, the money was only to good to turn down if we reinvested it. We didn’t and he’s gone on to show he’s exactly the type of instinctive finisher we’ve sorely lacked this season. Can’t be annoyed at the club as we were all happy at the time but I have to say I think that we and the club got it wrong.
I disagree as he stopped performing for us as soon as Silva had his strop, he may well have been playing like Sinclair is at the moment had he stayed with us this season! Then you would have been saying we should have taken the money!
I liked Richarlison. I thought he was keen to please and, because of his youth, was fearless in trying all sorts of things. But an ‘instinctive finisher’? No, never.
The quality of his finishing is up and down, but he does seem to get a fair amount of chances which is half the battle I guess. He's on 7 league goals now in about 13 games I think, which is pretty respectable. "Instinctive"? I don't know. He should end up with over 15 goals if he continues the way he's going, might even push 20.
Get why you would say that, but there were very few people anywhere saying that £45m or whatever it was that we paid wasn't over the odds. I'd guess a lot of people in football felt the same. Know for fairly sure that Liverpool were also interested in Richarlison in the summer but the price was deemed far too much. Even now, he'll have to at least maintain this sort of form to be considered worth that kind of money and that's by no means certain.
He is fantastic at getting into the centre when the opposite winger has the ball. When crosses came in, Richie was far more likely than Deeney to get on the end of them. But far too often the 50p head or boots on wrong feet factors would prevail. He generally rushed his finishing.
What I think people forget is that we are talking about a very highly rated young footballer who I’m sure would know better than to let his career stagnate on purpose just because he’s sulking. I know it’s the popular thing to say because we are Watford fans so want to back the club every time in such matters...but when you weight up the odds, they are far greater when you factor that he joined us directly after a full season in Brazil. And he had played a lot for Brazil U20’s the pre-season before that. Silva’s sacking didn’t help but the lad was just burnt out and frustrated, whilst settling into new surroundings. I wouldn’t ‘have been saying we should have took the money’ - there’d be no need as I said that clearly in the summer. But with hindsight, we shouldn’t have done. Looking back I think we should have held him to another 12 months of his 5 year contract.
Taking this weekend's results into account (minus our own, of course), we are currently the proud owners of the 'worst form of any team in the league' award. Even Southampton, the only other team without a win in that time, has us beat by virtue of collecting an extra draw. It's all going to plan.
