If he maintains his form then I agree. I would suggest it's highly likely he'll have a dip at some point. Nobody thought we had any chance of keeping Sarr when we were relegated last time out.
Indeed, exactly, I can't see him realistically 'allowing' us to in the first place, and even if he doesn't score again this season (which we obviously would imagine is rather unlikely) 8 goals and 5 assists is surely enough to attract a fee that's too much of a profit on him for Gino to refuse even if it's nowhere near peak value should we stay up/he carry on his form.
The situation just isn't the same as that at all, though, in so many ways - being in the absolute depths of covid chief among them, and Sarr being of a very unique temperament and slightly different age profile alongside it.
Dennis is gone if we go down. Let's not delude ourselves. There will be multiple teams willing to take a punt even if he doesn't get a single goal or assist the rest of the season.
Yep. Richarlison was barely playing and we managed to shift him for a small fortune. Not sure why we don't buy more young players. You only need to score a couple of goals as a teenager and suddenly you're a £30m player.
Dennis will probably be gone even if we stay up, I certainly wouldn't want to be the one to stand in his way of moving to a bigger club!
Is Sarr of a unique temperament? I'd say he can be as sulky as the best of them. Agreed regarding COVID though. You would imagine we are over the worst of it (fingers crossed). I would never say never.
Can't think of many Belgians. Kabs, Oulare, Lukebakio.... Dennis as you say, and Louza? Not done too bad out of that
On the pitch, absolutely, he has a really weird depressive funk of an appearance at basically all times that I don't get - however, not only is he nowhere near as rogue and enigmatic (shall we say) as Dennis, but his agent (I think) was quoted by Leventhal in his Athletic article talking about how and why he stayed, and it was very clear that he has a very grounded and strategic/intelligent head on his shoulders. He never made a fuss about leaving and was happy to stay given the situation at the time and what he was aware he still had to learn to help his development in English football. I posted screenshots on here at the time - it's probably somewhere in the Sarr team bus thread if you feel like searching.
Fair enough. Dennis does seem like a bit of a character too. All I'm saying is, nothing would surprise me anymore (apart from us keeping a clean sheet).
Gino tried to find some players with only one foot to sign as they're cheaper, but rare these days so still searching.
Sarr’s initial price tag (coupled with Covid) was also a huge factor. We could’ve probably sold Sarr for £20/£25m to someone, but there was no way Gino was ready to take a loss that early. Dennis cost **** all so selling him for £20m would be a completely different proposition to Gino.
And he was often blowing out of his rear end. Mind you, with Kucka, we have shown that’s a trait we don’t mind forcing 90 mins upon.
What's your overhead like Moog? Mine was dreadful today in practice. If yours is poor,I must be you, too!
I don't blame Sarr I'd be depressed in this team too. Came here to a new country in a system with no wingers, got benched, manager sacked, then had to somehow supply goals to Deeney with QSF suppressing any attacking intent, finds form with Delefoo, Van Dijk injures him, COVID, bat sh*t crazy Pearson, sacked / punches Masina or whatever, relegated. Doucoure sold, Capoue sold, two native speakers gone. A whole season in The Championship with empty stadiums with him our only real sole goal threat / match winner, back to the Prem, manager sacked, WTE, Cathcart and Masina remain in the back line, with Clevs & Kucka protecting them. Decent manager comes in and he's seriously injured. Think that's everything..
Feels like a Mogi Bayat special where instead of us scouting a player and finding one who will improve us, we've just gone to our favourite agent (still under investigation for various offences) and asked him to procure us a cheap midfielder. He'll get a nice commission out of it too. Not sure anyone ever explained the Sven Kums transfer. By the reported fees, we signed him, he never set foot in London Colney, played for Udinese for a year then we sold him at a loss to Anderlecht. Still, decent couple of agent fees in there for Mogi, I'm sure.
Shhh. You’ll have people telling you to stop booing, that everyone deserves a chance and this guy might be amazing. It’s the forum code.
