I once (quite drunk) walked out half way through a meal with my wife and another couple because they refused to accept that simply red are the shittest band in the world.
We once pitched up late in some small French town desperately hungry, kids jowling. Eventually we found a little tavern. They said they’d keep the kitchen open specially. Menu looked delicious & bottle of red ordered. Idyllic. Until they sparked up a tv the size of a sightscreen opposite us & proceeded to play Simply Red Live at max volume. Scoffed food & managed to get out before Money’s Too Tight To Mention.
It was downhill after Martine McCutcheon. His career I mean. Not the car. Although they did have a handbrake recall....
Hertha Berlin the latest club to be linked with a move on SSN. Says they want Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal but have also enquired about Lukebakio (no mention of loan or permanent though)
Ha, they can enquire all they want but I suspect he's out of their reach. Their record signing is only £9.5mil. They even finished one place below Fortuna in the table.
https://www.footballinsider247.com/...ward-for-17-7m/amp/?__twitter_impression=true Advanced talks with them for £17.7m according to this report. Says he’s far down the list of options for Gracia.
£17.7m I would bite their hands off really. Its a healthy profit, and even if he goes on to bigger success I would imagine there will be a sell on fee. I don't see him necessarily making it here.
http://sportwitness.co.uk/e20m-bonuses-offer-made-watford-player-already-agreed-5-year-deal/ Agreed a five year deal with them. Article saying they have offered €20mil but we want €25mil
Yep he wouldve ended up another frustrated winger that pings in a worldie only to find Troy still heaving his way into the penalty box...
Depends if we have given permission to them I suppose. I think it’s generally accepted if a deal is very likely but who knows. Pretty certain it’s always done through agents regardless anyway! I just hope we put a good sell-on fee in this deal if it happens....just in case.
If we sell him for that much, we may just about break-even on the Sven Kums and Big Obi deals from our favorite Belgian agent. He’s the only winner in this.
If we have to pay a similar fee that we sell him for to replace him with Sarr then it's not really a profit. And @Optimistichornet - what are you basing your opinion on that you don't see him being able to make it here?
To be fair it is a profit on the original fee paid for Lukebakio. So not a profit as far as the bank balance is concerned but it is based on just the player. Couple of people, with nothing to back it up granted, saying on Twitter that Lukebakio was due back at training on Monday and has refused. If that’s true, then get rid.
It is odd that he doesn't appear to be back yet. Although, if Dodi was given 6 weeks off, same as the rest of the squad, he's not due back for another week and a half - however I doubt the club would want players to arrive only a few days before the season starts. Even Sadio Mane who was in the Afcon final last week is going to be back at Pool at around the same time. Cucho also doesn't appear to be back in training yet for any club, and even with 6 weeks off he should have been back somewhere this Monday as well. Maybe work permit issues. I couldn't see any references to that on twitter. If true then obv he needs to go, though it would annoyingly weaken our negotiating position. If he is being sold I'd be surprised if no clubs bigger than Hertha come in for him. If Lille sell Pepe then they can also put at least half of whatever fee that is towards Dodi.
My impression from having watched highlights (only highlights mind you) of his game whilst in the bundesliga is that he does not offer enough defensively if he ends up playing wide. It’s not a problem if he is going to play up top, but I can’t see him getting ahead of Deeney, gray or deulofeu. I think we are all putting him I ahead of Pereyra in our heads. Pereyra had a poor second half of the season but defensively as a winger he does put in a shift. Lukebakio was shipped out because he didn’t work hard enough on the back track and from what I’ve seen he still doesn’t. I expect this is the reason Penaranda didn’t feature much last year either. Both players like to attack but somewhat forsake their defensive responsibilities. I just wonder if we are best of cashing in now. It would be a massive profit on Lukebakio. I don’t think you can necessarily look at it as a loss if the club reinvest in someone more expensive and they become a dud. Just my opinion
I think he's back in training today. His latest Instagram post has exactly the same dull grey clouds I'm seeing in St Albans so he must be close....
Isn't he supposed to be in Berlin? Looks like a Berlin sky to me. The guttering is also very ordered and the window has glass in it.
