Harsh calling Ignacio a dud Norn. It was yet another player brought in without consultation with the manager as to what he needed. How an earth is this model going to work. Pussetto was not even wanted by Nige and he is not a bad player either. However our owner seems quite happy to splash the cash about without thought.

And as for those saying ah the good old days. It's nice to be back in League One they should remember what GT said. Strive to be the best that you can every day. If he had the attitude of some of our fanbase we would still be crawling about the bottom of the fourth tier. He had the drive, ambition, hunger, tenacity, common sense and attention to detail to take this club to undreamed heights.

Not just that wfc4ever. The managerial merry go round means every year we have to set aside a few million for paying off a manager and his backroom staff. It's not cheap either.

Is it fair to say the board have learned from the mistakes previous regimes have made with throwing money at an instant promotion? It's nearly crippled the club twice in the Prem era, and of course the 90's was a mess too.

The lack of transfer activity is frustrating but there must be a method behind what we're doing. PZ, Ngakia, Sierralta and WTE all very good signings for a low budget, and Dan Gosling may turn out to be a useful John Eustace/Ben Watson type if we don't go up.

I still have faith in Gino and am very thankful for what he's done for the club. It's sometimes hard to forget we're still 4th, and this season could have gone a lot worst.

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for last season, whilst thinking he made some avoidable mistakes - I still think if Javi stayed a full season we'd have comfortably stayed up. It does, however seem to be a pattern that teams our size who stay in the PL for a few years lose a bit of direction and end up with a bit of a mish-mashed squad and I do think if Covid hadn't hit we'd have probably just abuot stayed up.

What I don't understand is the strategy. When they took over there was a pretty clear plan in place for promotion. When we went up there was a pretty clear plan to keep us up. The last 2/3 season's there has seemingly been absolutely no strategy in place. I thought this season would be a good chance to reset, which it seemed like we were doing, but within 6 months we seem to have reverted to the same mistakes as last season. I know Covid has probably made it very difficult, but it does appear they're increasingly becoming headless chickens.

Let's put it this way: if Gino was being judged by the same standards as a head coach, working under Gino, Gino would haved fired himself for his performance quite a while ago.

A clarifying point here: Brexit has made it harder to sign EU players.

It's actually made it easier to get work permits for South American players (especially for those in Brazil's Serie A or Argentina's Primer Division). Under the new rules, the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamerica are both put on equal footing to the Europa League/Champions League, so players competing in those competitions will be significantly easier to sign. Any player who is playing regularly for a club competing in either the Copa Libertadores or the Copa Sudamericana will be likely to get a work permit now in the vast majority of cases.

Signing an EU player who isn't playing regularly in one of the big European leagues is going to be very hard, though. They'll almost certainly need to be a full international to have much of a chance. Assuming no regime change, I suspect we'll just see our scouting operations move to cover South America more.

Without harking back to comparisons with Baz, mentioning that they built a meccano east stand or had a cup run to the final and a few good premier wins.

Can any Pozzo sympathisers tell us what they have done correctly in the last season and a half?

All I can see is an incoherent transfer “strategy” and making the club a laughing stock with head coaches being sacked every 3 months or so.

It’s the end of the road for Pozzo.

I used to hold the owner in such high esteem, but they are just a shadow of themselves these days. They used to be so shrewd, always ahead of the game, finding little loopholes. These guys were actually brilliant for 7 years.

What the hell happened? They've just stopped investing in the club. I know we were always a vehicle for them to make money and to ultimately fund Udinese, and I was ok with that as I knew for them to be successful, Watford would be successful.

I can't believe how far they've fallen as owners. Their stubbornness, arrogance and ineptitude is killing the club. Make no mistake, to not go up this season will be a disaster for the club, but they've willfully abandoned us in all but name.

Why sell Geri? What was the point in selling him a few days ago if they wasn't going to invest in a couple of last minute deals? It makes no sense, apart from subtly moving over our best players. Sarr, Hughes, Kiko, Pedro and anyone else of any note will be gone in the summer and then we'll be the exact same team we were before they took us over. A Championship side relying on some old pros and academy kinds.

I cannot believe how far they've dropped us in such a short space of time. If they are not interested anymore, please just go.

This is the real concern and the part that should concern everyone

6 months ago we were in the Premier League, 18 months ago we were challenging for Europe and in the FA cup final

Its difficult to make sense of how much we've fallen apart in such a short space of time if there isn't at least some element of the owners losing interest

This is a good point, that I think I, amongst others, pointed out at the time - if we sold him randomly in January a day before the window closes to shift some money around for signings that otherwise wouldn't have access to, then fairplay - but, if in 48 hours time, it turned out not to be the reason, then what incredible optics. An absolute slap in the face and such terrible PR - it's like they're openly mocking the fanbase; genuinely.

And hey, guess what - that's exactly what it was.

It's hard to fathom the contempt they must hold the supporters in, or it would be except that it's been on display so much recently it's almost passé.

I see an alarming parallel between how last season unfolded and how COVID has unfolded over the last 12 months.

Think we're out of the woods after the six game unbeaten run, and then having Sarr back and caning Liverpool, only to find after lockdown we were anything but, turning out just as bad if not worse performances than before Pearson came in.

We have no money. Whilst we were all drinking in the excitement of being in the Premier League, Pozzo was loading us up with more and more debt and no-one noticed until it was too late. We were never a rich owner's plaything, the aim was for us to be in a position for Gino to take as much money as he could out of the club, he has no other business interests.

Why didn't we bring anyone other than the paper transfer of Pussetto when our survival was hanging by a thread? Why have we appointed a head coach with only eleven games experience? Why have we spent nothing despite the TV money from last season and selling players? Why did we let Capoue go midway through the season for peanuts? Because the well ran dry some time ago and now we're completely ****ed.

I genuinely don't think it's an exaggeration to say that the future of the club is at stake and Gino might actually do what other owners have come close to in the past and financially ruin us. Next set of accounts will be out in the next month or so, suspect they're going to be pretty grim reading. I think he's going to go down as our worst ever owner, someone that gambled with our club, made himself a lot richer and then the whole house of cards came tumbling down.
