Right, well any slight chance we had of top 2 is surely gone now, do we hold on to top 6, or will someone overtake us?

This is why you can't rely on a good defence and you have to score goals. Even the best defence will make some mistakes, you have to score goals to cover them.

If we don't start to score some goals then it will be very difficult.

1 serious attempt on goal in a game is not enough.

Coin flip. Doesn’t help having an unqualified clown as manager.

I still think yes, though it will be more by default than anything as I don't think anyone from 7th downwards will produce any spectacular kind of form to force their way ahead of us. Mind you, what's worse, a Forest-style implosion, or a Hull-style ****ing?

We have the best squad in the league, and our January business was excellent.

Anyone who says otherwise is a YouTuber, under 25 and plays FM!

Automatics not out of sight yet! We just have to believe!

    Yes, this league is awful.

We'll get beaten easily though by Reading/Brentford/Swansea/Bournemouth

But that is an impossible task. We don’t have any goal scoring forwards and the owner decided that was absolutely fine even with a month to rectify it.

You can’t get blood out of a stone, ivic was a negative coach but the ability of our forwards hasn’t changed with him gone. It was never there and it never will be.

It'll be touch and go like the Aidy season where we just pipped Ipswich to 6th - only to get hammered by Hull. Wish we'd been 7th.

Do we win them? Not a snowball in hell's chance. You can put your shirt on that.

No. There is comfortably 6 better teams than us in this league, probably more. We'll finish somewhere between 7th and 12th, and then be in a serious relegation battle next season.

We have a moron owner, an embarrassingly incompetent manager, can't create chances, can't score goals other than "big Troy" whacking in penalties and are now a couple of injures away from being even more pathetic than we already are.

I think we were going to finish in the top 6 with Ivic. Not so sure now. If this side goes up it'll be through luck, rather than judgement. Pozzo has royally ****ed us, over the past few years.

I reckon it was Papa Pozzo who had the brains. Gino is utterly inept.

I think we'll get it from the chasing pack all being pretty poor, but we'll be just making up the numbers.

Top two is over for sure. Play offs should be still ok, but we won't get through it, so it's pretty pointless.

We will limp into the playoffs because the division is so terrible only to go out in the two legged matches with a whimper. It truly will take a miraculous run of form to secure a top spot or for some of the other sides to crash and burn. It can happen but don't hold your breath. Especially when you have a clueless simpleton on the sidelines and Gino or Giaretta picking the side. What do they do in training ? I would love to know.

Gino did a great job along with Scott Two Face in picking Ivic. Turns out they should have gone for Paunovic. Shoestring budget and squad. A decent manager can make a hell of a difference. Crucially I suspect the chairmen at most clubs and their lackeys don't interfere with the managerial side of things and do their level best to help their appointment. Here we do the opposite. Pathetic. Utterly fackin pathetic. God I'm angry and I should not be in all seriousness.

We'll finish 6th as the teams below aren't playoff standard. We will take a beating even more severe than what Hull did to us in 2008

You can be utter **** and finish in the top 6 in this league. We'll scrape into the playoffs and go out with a whimper in the semis.

Yep. We will limp and get drilled. Xisco will clap. Assorted oddballs will talk about a season of great stability from Pozzo and we go again next year. At which point we will sell Hughes, Sarr and Joao Pedro to stop us going bust due to the goon Pozzo’s incompetence.

There is a difference between a good defence and a lucky defence, and for large portions of the season we have had a lucky defence - tonight there were several totally undefended balls flashing straight across the goalmouth that we relied on random chance not to be converted, rather than anything that came from our own players. And that was before either of the simple goals we did allow them to score.

We're barely any better defensively coordinated than we are attacking, we just rely on the individual skills of whichever defenders fielded on the day. We haven't conceded that many because we have access to centre backs that are theoretically of a higher calibre than most in this league, and we spent a large portion of the season playing an incredibly defensive and cautious style from back to front.

I don't see our defensive record being anywhere near as impressive on paper by the end of the season as it is right now, and if that comes to pass then we would be pretty lucky to stay in the playoffs.

That being said, we might get away with that mismatch in opposition attacking quality versus individual defensive quality given the league we are in, but when we are forced to fall back on that in a knockout game against a competent team, we'll be destroyed.

I think we’ll get into the play-offs but we’ll actually be better off not doing so.

The play-off will just be frustrating reruns of our last few games last season.

Games like West Ham and Arsenal, games we simply must win, but we somehow inexplicably play even worse than normal. Our players completely crippled by the severity of the situation, faced with fight or flight, choose flight every single time.

I voted no mainly because I cannot stand the prolonged hope that we might just fluke our way into the PL.
I expect therefore that we will finish sixth and we'll all have to suffer a 7-1 ( Deeney pen) aggregate thrashing to ...insert club of your choice here.

Still plenty of football to be played and other surprises to come. Think we will limp into play offs but we all know what is needed to win them and I doubt we will have anywhere near what is needed. The club needs a massive overhaul owners staff and squad. A shambles that’s getting worse. If we do go up derby 11 points record or Sheffield united new record would firmly be in our sights

Remember when we slapped Palarse 3-0 then made Leeds look average?

Remember that nail biting shootout at Birmingham when Chamberlain became a hero?

Remember seeing Nick Wright's overhead kick at Wembley at GT wondering if we had scored?

    Forget all that.

We are destined to fail this season. Players don't care about going up, board doesn't care. We won't, and could be a League One side in the next few years if this format continues.

It was actually Wolves we pipped to 7th by two goals, thanks to Kabba winning a penalty against them at their place and scoring against them in our 3-0 win in the reverse fixture (if we'd won 2-0 then Wolves would've made 6th).

TBH any team that allows a player like Kabba to have that much effect on the result deserves to miss out!
