Disgraceful, inept and gutless...

...pretty much sums up todays 'efforts' from 4 or 5 players out there today! I'm very much in two minds as to whether to go to Man Utd away at the end of the month to watch that shower of sh*t! May possibly have a ticket going spare, if anyone is interested, i'll confirm soon! Why should I travel up from Southampton to watch Damien Francis, Tamas Priskin, Tommy Smith and Adrian Mariappa stroll around the pitch without a care in the world? We played today like we were already down! No effort and no bollox...not good enough!

The only players to come out with any credit today are: Ben Foster, Danny Shittu, Hameur Bouazza and Gavin Mahon! The only ones that put in a good shift today, the rest were average or woeful!

I don't mind if we lose due to a lack of quality, but to lose without showing any guts for two weeks running is frankly disgusting! Damian Francis being the biggest joker of all! Hopefully he'll get injured in training and will be out for rest of the season! It was like playing with 10 men!

I also have to shelf alot of the blame to Boothroyd! Let me just say I think the bloke is a great manager, he'll only get better and he's still learning! However, for the second week running his team selection/tactics need to be looked at!

Demerit on the bench? Clearly he's fit otherwise he'd be out the squad, so why not play him? Baros skinned Mackay for pace in the second half everytime they got in behind us! If it wasn't for the fact he couldn't finish his dinner it would have been very embarrasing!

He persists on playing Francis, even though he's utter sh*t! I know Bangura had a shocker last week but don't forget he's 18 years old and still learning! At least Al puts his foot in and can read the game!

Powell on for Bouazza? Our biggest threat going forward!

And my biggest moan of all is the fact we just lumped the ball aimlessley in the air to Priskin and Hoskins (not their fault) and didn't play to their strengths i.e. getting the ball to feet and turning! Hoskins showed some nice touches when he recieved it to feet! Priskins was just lazy and not interested!

    Extremley annoying!

I don't blame Ash for wanting to go after seeing that!

I was baffled by his choice of Mackay over DeMerit, Malky's lack of pace gets exposed more in the prem and if he's going to be a coach then time to stay on the bench.
Unfortunately Williamson is still out for a couple of weeks with a broken toe so Francis/Bangura get away with being sh*te.
As for Priskin then i reckon not featuring at all against Liverpool will have knocked him big time. He scored against Wigan and put in a fairly decent performance at Fulham yet he's dropped in palce of two players who are clearly at their best out on the wing.

I can't argue with that as I wasn't there. Listening to the radio it sounded exciting - Priskin's overhead kick, Smith working hard, Mariappa's goal-saving tackle and for a change Oxhey and Price? were being quite complimentary. Just goes to show you really can't tell.

It was woeful, in paticular the first half! We were 3 yards off the pace and chasing shadows! Villa could and should have put at least 5 past us! Foster made a few great saves! Shittu was sensational and Gav was the only one in midfield that did anything!

Not good enough, and i'm not buying what Boothroyd said about effort today! Only 3-4 players deserve any credit and i mentioned them in the first post!

Mariappa allowed Barry in first half about 3 times because he was ball watching! Noddy just left him exposed second half and wondered in field leaving Mariappa with 2 men! Francis was just a pi** take and may aswell not been on the pitch...priskin's over head kick was all he did all game, and even that didn't hit the target (good effort though)!

Interesting to hear your opinions Bubble. I wasn't there so I can't (dis)agree with you.

I thought Neil Price would be tearing into our 1st half performance...Villa could have been 4/5 up!

There was an improvement in the 2nd half from certain players like Hoskins and Mahon who again had to play in central midfield on his own in effect.

Foster and Shittu were excellent again and must be the 2 real contenders for POTS along side Hamuer.

Made a post earlier about brining Powell on...

Must admit Aidy does seem to make a few odd decisions but then all managers do really!

So you say Mariappa was poor, then you say Smith left him with two players to mark?

    make up your mind!

cant agree cos i werent their either!

What? If you read it properly I said Mariappa was ball watching FIRST HALF and let Barry in 3 times...and SECOND HALF Noddy left him exposed! Read it properly you half wit!

unfortunately i was not there but Sky said we we were pretty decent. the thing thay worries me about Malky is that his sudden promotin to the first team conicides with his promotion to player coach. How can adie possibly think that Malky can de a better job than Jay or Dan against the speed merchants of the prem?

I think Adie is a legend and we would be possibly playing league 1 footie if it wasn't for him but the sudden departure of our first team coach to be replaced by a player coach who's pace is about the same as our mascot is worrying!

Adie is obviously a good manager though as this is my first real serious moan at him since he started. I think used to moan about Lewington each week:)

Sky thought we were decent? Well fella let me tell you now, we were woeful! We had a good 10 minute spell in the game (last 5 of 1st half and first 5 of 2nd half) other than that we were ****! No pattern, no under standing, no fluency! It was all very disjointed and lacking ideas!

To be honest, it was Alan McInally, and he knows sweet FA about football anyway! I reckon we will still win this Tuesday if Jay and Dan start at the back and blackburn playing a similar style to us

we definatley lack ideas going forward especially when we get ourselves in to good positions. smith being the main culprit. now young is going we definatley need a right winger, but who will want to come is the question?

Lager is the way forward mate. This particular brew is called 'Feldbrau' and costs about £1 for 10 bottles. Top notch stuff...

Not bad for the price. Or I could have gone for the rip-off Desperados called 'Amigos', but I steered clear and headed for the cheap lager ;D

Foster made several great stops as usual. Our defence is inept, our midfield is pedestrian and our attack is toothless. People are talking about us beating Blackburn? We couldn't beat an egg. The only reason we don't get hammered 4 or 5 more often is the goalkeeping of a player who will be leaving in May. We need to face reality soon and start repairing some of the gaping holes in our squad, or we will never come back up.

    Perfectly summed up!

Our midfield is mainly pedestrian because Damian Francis is a lazy **** and Mahon ends up doing two jobs!

I just want to make it clear I wasn't moaning about the commitment of all the players...only the ones I mentioned in the first post! Need to look at themselves but sadly they'll probably only look at their bank balance!

Yeah, no matter how bad it gets at Watford, at least we will never have Ballack. Utter waste of space and has made Chelski lose the title.

Had a good chuckle about that in the 'cap and gown' before the game!

Some brilliant old school songs coming out today in the pub aswell (mainly started by big dave)!

Good atmosphere in the pub, shame it was awful in the ground!

I am a big Aidy fan and obviously feel he did a great job last year. However, his team selections for the last couple of games have left me somewhat perplexed. When the teams were announced at VP today, I could not believe that JD was not playing. I feel that he was made the scapegoat for being over-exposed last week by Malky's lack of pace. Hopefully, he was not also left out today as someone is interested in him.
When are our full-backs going to realise that you cannot afford to give Prem wingers that amount of space. Throughout the season JS has consistently let his player get goal-side of him and Mariappa has been guilty of the same offence on several occasions during the last two games. This is why our central defenders are getting drawn out of position and we are conceding soft goals.
Our midfield has no-one capable of making a defence splitting pass and are giving our limited forwards no chance to use their limited skills.
Prem defenders will deal with our style of play all day long as it is so predictable.
Without Gav, Danny and Fossie today we would have been taken apart.
Our players are now conditioned to expecting defeat and it is imperative that we bring some fresh blood in to the team. What good is it putting Moses on with only 10 minutes left.
I wish Ash all the best and on Villa's performance today, apart from Barry, they looked little better than us.
A fitting testimony to his loyalty would be to use his transfer money wisely, for the future benefit of the club. Please do not let it be spent on the ground or we will be on the receiving end of our 'Nice ground, S*** team chant'

Very true....at the moment with players leaving we do not have a strong team nevermind squad although I think Lee is a good goalie too and we have a decent set of young players who need experience and assurance around them.

Be nice to have a great ground and great team!

Last season it was nice team but s**t ground.....
