Never forgave him for a silly review when out against Aus in the world cup in 2019. Used up the review and so stopped Roy being able to review when given out by a silly decision and so missed out on his 100. Selfish **** !
I guess we asked the Indians if it would be a spinning wicket. They said "No, definitely not, we aren't going to play any spinners". So we went spinner-lite.
Don’t keep up with cricket but I do know India have prepared spinners wickets for tests since God made little apples. Why on earth do we only include 2 spinners in the test squad? Surely we have a spinner/batsman all rounder somewhere as we are now at a huge disadvantage with Moeen Ali baling?
Crawley gone now. Looks like the first test was a blip thanks to Root's innings. Last test and this one now going how I expected the whole series to pan out. To be fair, winning a test in India is more than I did expect during the series!
Yes but when B & A start throwing down their slow leg spin, the plan will suddenly look very cunning indeed. ps Our tail starts at #1
Root's had his mini-run of something approaching form and now is back to what he does best. Getting out easy as anything and making questionable decisions. Did they not even look at this pitch when deciding to go with one spinner?
With Leachs unerring control and Roots spinning experience, we will bowl them out for 55. Stop worrying.
No sign of white smoke here but perhaps a white flag more apt? I wish I'd stayed with Socrates. Perhaps I'll write the reports for the children in the groups. They may take longer than this "innins" as Jim Laker used to say.
I think he dropped it and he knows it. The celebration was very muted. I think his faux shock when the decision went against him was to hide his embarrassment. It might prove to be an expensive mistake.
What concerns me was that the 3rd umpire looked at one replay for 10 seconds and overturned a soft signal out. It has to be conclusive enough to overturn. I'm not sure it was from that single replay. England won't get any 50/50s in this series. The umpiring has been mostly questionable. Especially the TV umpire.
Yes, there should have been more camera angles and a zoom option available. Having said that, it looked pretty obvious that he didn't catch that and, on this occasion at least, I think the decision was correct. But I accept your point that the 3rd umpire should have looked at more evidence before overturning the soft signal.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist A La Hornetboy1 but having worked in cricket for a year I've seen how much power the BCCI have, basically as a result of being where 90% of the money comes from. I wouldn't be surprised if the umpires are briefed to give any contentious decisions in their favor to India jus tto avoid any hassle.
True but I'm a natural optimist and a couple of early wickets could get us right back in the test. 500+ India first innings incoming now then!
"This is the first time England have been bowled out for under 200 in four consecutive innings since the 1909 Ashes." Incredible stat.
That England review summed it up. The umpire sneeringly saying not out knowing umpire's call will save him, having given two out in the England innings that were shown to be hitting the stumps in the same place. No wonder Stokes is laughing at every decision.
Without wishing to excuse incompetence, the first of those was of course in a match which England went on to win.
