Ah, I've got it, you're Piers Morgan, and I claim my £5. He also claims that he would have wanted a lockdown last January, and has perfect 20/20 hindsight.

Lockdown? LMAO. Just dropped the wife off at Watford General and traffic/people are quite normal.

Our daughter's nursery remains open, so we have been taking her and all seems to be ok, the staff are working in bubbles, masks on etc.. I notice the Unions along with articles on the BBC popping up today questioning why they are still open. It's interesting the agenda they put out, things like 'staff are in tears', 'we have no information' etc etc... couldn't be further from the truth where my daughter is going. The nursery staff are all smiles, saying the children (and they) are enjoying being back. They are doing everything they can to be safe. All parents social distancing on drop off and pick up, in fact everyone is almost exaggerating the 2 metre rule, more like 5/6 metres yesterday!

It's so interesting when you read about stuff in the media that you have more than a little basic knowledge about and how they twist things. I'm sure there are some staff at nurseries and pre-schools who have concerns, of course there are, but the way the media portray it, you would think they're all turning up under duress in floods of tears.

That's great that parents and staff are distancing effectively, but are the children, once inside? Another environment unlike many others across the country where distancing is impossible, and a perfect place for the virus to spread.

Keep nurseries open for key worker and vulnerable children only. Vaccinate staff, and provide more PPE.

The Media immediately look for THE NEGATIVE angle on any breaking story especially if it is against the government.

Just yesterday Vicky Young for the BBC asked Boris about why the decision to go into full lockdown was made so late, as he had said only the day before that schools would stay open. He explained that everything was under constant review by the medical and scientific experts and that he was hoping we would not have had to go into full lockdown and because of this late decisions often have to be made.

She immediately turned to Chris Whitty, and asked him when they had advised the government that we should go into full lockdown, and you could see her face visibly turn to a look of dismay when he answered THIS MORNING!!! It was a joy to watch, as she obviously was hoping he would say last week or something like that, the poor thing looked so disappointed :D

I hate it when people are "confused", it's actually incredibly simple and has been since March, stay at home unless you have to do something essential and don't mix with others. The other layers about what is permitted at any given time since hasn't always been clear or has changed at the drop of a hat but the base message surely is the default?

Unfortunately people base their lives on Facebook, Twitter, etc. rather than check things on the gov.uk website.

I quite like it being open. It means my wife and I can get on with our jobs with a little less disruption than March.

My point was more about misleading media coverage.

I'm sure! Doesn't mean it's the right thing to do overall though.

Yeah, it's a fair point, maybe it's a little one sided. My girlfriend works in a nursery and the groupchat seemed pretty unanimous that they think only key workers kids should be allowed. I'm sure though that they put on a happy face when parents are dropping off kids.

No doubt the people going about their lives as normal are all among the 79 per cent who say they are in favour of the new lockdown according to the latest poll!

There's a family that live opposite who made "clap for carers" a big party each week. Blasting out music for 15 minutes before and after and dancing in the street.

Obviously massive fans of the NHS and doing their bit to stop the virus, though worth noting that they seemed to either have about 15 people living in their house, or a lot of visitors coming and going during lockdown 1. The paramedic 2 doors down from them didn't appreciate the party fun when he was on nights either.

To help build the picture, she is about 20 stone and he often wears a bandana.

Or obtain their scientific understanding through other uninformed and ill educated twits on there. Moronic scum wandering around hospitals photographing empty corridors and outpatients as proof it is all a hoax. Others deriding NHS staff for having been on Tik Tok dancing last year. Talk about petty.

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/anti-lockdown-activist-arrested-dressing-23248926

Or the incredibly intelligent and attractive Lauren Goodger showing to the world her understanding and concern for the situation we are in.

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/lauren-goodger-refuses-wear-face-23267602

It's a pity it does not wear an iron mask so one would not at least be subject to the appalling visage of her face. Meanwhile the lovely intelligent and well spoken Liz Bonnin who lost her mother to this hoax speaks words of wisdom.

"We didn’t listen to and act on the science," Liz continued. "My world crumbled as I watched her suffer the consequences of what we continue to prioritise in much of the global north at the cost of environmental and human health, in an age of blind partisanship, rampant misinformation and absurd conspiracy theories.

"I dearly hope that in my lifetime we will collectively wake up and reject our addiction to monetary gain and short term political goals, and recognise the true value of connectedness, community, wellbeing, kindness and caring for our planet and each other - no matter our age."

A perfect example of the large numbers of morons we have that constitute the general public. No thoughts about the consequences of their actions. Probably desperate for likes on social media showing how lovely they are in support of the NHS. Perhaps you could tell the overweight woman not to become a burden on the NHS in future by doing more exercise and eating less assuming she does not have any conditions or mental unhappiness.

Morons include Margaret Ferrier the dumb SNP MP for Rutherglen, idiots walking in Snowdonia having travelled from Solihull and in another shameless case of hypocrisy Swede Dan Eliasson. Urges fellow Swedes not to travel abroad but then takes a holiday in the Canaries.

PS According to the virology professors we have everywhere the coming of March will see rising temperatures squish the bug.

I've just returned from the nursery I visit.

It's very safe and although it's impossible to keep the children distanced in their areas they are fine outside with me,any decent coach will space children out, especially little ones as they have no spacial awareness.
They all have gloves on and understand it's elbow bumps and no hands.
The staff are very good and very professional which is more than I can say for many of my profession!

Good god no. Most people were doing it because they didn't want to be seen not doing it. The most militant pan basher in MeisterManor that went about checking who was clapping and who wasn't has been repeatedly flouting the lockdown and mixing rules.. I've actually considered shopping them.

Any comment @WatfordTalk ? Whitty is confirming that they only recommended full lockdown on Monday morning, which fits in with my explanation of what happened, and what you claimed was rubbish?

The ONS data and the information coming from studies across the world I have seen shows that the transmission rate amongst nursery school children is far lower than amongst other groups and that the risk is minimal. The staff are more likely to spread the disease amongst themselves in the staff rooms, and parents mingling at the school gates.

My granddaughter goes to nursery, but hers has had to stay shut to non key worker children as the union have instructed staff to not work and so they are short staffed. I went along yesterday as I am a key worker and even though my missus is not working, our little 'un still has a place. But the nursery is short staffed and although the staff seemed happy and encouraged us to take our little 'un along, they did seem to have their hands full, so we'll leave it to next week when hopefully other staff start going back. Like you and IBB witnessed, there were plenty of social distancing measures being taken.

"SAGE told the government on 22 December it was "highly unlikely" that allowing schools to open would keep the coronavirus reproduction rate - or R number - below 1, meaning the number of cases would continue to grow"

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/news.s...c-advisers-in-the-run-up-to-lockdown-12179849

This completely goes against you saying that teenagers and teachers can't spread the virus. You also said there's only been 50 confirmed covid cases in UK schools, which is also rubbish.

    Still nothing on this, no?

I'm specifically asking if you think that my info that Monday's decision was based on the mornings data and recommendations was still rubbish in your view. Was Whitty lying?
