Masina interview in WO saying we are good enough and have the right mentality.. Pearson clearly doesn't think he is one !
I'm concerned about the Mariappa selection. However, I think Chalobah in for Pereyra makes sense. It remains to be seen how we'll shuffle around the midfield, but having all of Capoue, Chalobah and Hughes on the pitch at the same time should definitely help us park the bus while still allowing Doucoure and Sarr to counter occasionally. Hughes might not be completely stuck on the wing, it could be more like a 4-3-2-1 with a narrowish 3 and then Doucs and Sarr slightly more free higher up the pitch.
Masina has been uber***** the last couple of games so can understand why he's out. A real shame as was finally starting to look good before the break.
Hmm well it’s something a bit difference. They needed to make changes. Concerned that Mapps isn’t going to be up to the task, there are plenty in the league who would struggle against pulisic and Mariappa doesn’t rate as highly as some of those. One thing he does give us is a bit of heart, and he won’t be bombing on down that wing. I’m not sure about femenia in the left back position but he is one of our more likely looking players so I don’t have a problem with it. If we can keep it tight for the first 70 minutes we might be able to nick something. Would definitely take a point today.
$10 on Sarr anytime 3-1 Watford. I really need to put myself in rehab Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gutless team selection The only chance we have against Chelsea is to go at them, their defence isn't great This team couldn't go at a wet paper bag
But he's not been given a fair chance (to demonstrate even more conclusively than he already has in his limited showings that he's f*****g sh***).
Femenia was actually pretty good in the few games he played at LB earlier in the season. Mapps is indeed more of the concern.
yer thinking back I would agree. he did play very well there. at least with mapps being technically limited going forwards we shouldn’t get caught out with too many men up the pitch as has happened too often lately.
More than once in recent seasons we have played notably well against Chelsea, and gone on to lose by more than one goal. With this kind of lineup, added to the pressure they will be feeling from the unexpected loss midweek and United's result today, we are absolutely ****ed.
Just seen the team selection. I probably shouldn't write them off just yet, but that line up looks a mess.
Well now that this thread has become completely pointless, what did you want to be when you grew up. I’ll start, I wanted to be a fireman.
For me that's a team selection I can totally get behind. And by that I mean I think even at my age and with an ever increasing gut size I think I'd still get behind them, lay it back to a blue shirt and get my first assists of the season.
Still Troy then. At least he’s trying something different - assuming it’s a 4-5-1. Problem is only Sarr and Doucoure any good at counter attacking. Oh well - here we go
Hoping that's a 4-4-2, doesn't really make sense otherwise. What in God's name are we doing with the full-backs
Having seen him allow Barkley to run passed him for the first goal I regret this endorsement. Also, how has Capoue gone from being our second best player before the break, to being pretty much our worst after it?
I thought that was a bit better than Southampton game. They seemed a bit more up for it and committed just not good enough. Big shame about the needless penalty.
Capoue needs to be subbed off before he is sent off. He has not been the same player since the restart.
Arguably the 2nd best half of football since our return. And we’re 2-0 down. Says a lot. In fairness we are playing it on the deck a little bit more and I can’t fault their effort (generally). Chelsea just better individually
