Apart from leading the team, either by example or by motivational qualities, I think the captain also needs to be able to make representations to the referee during the game as necessary. I can’t see either Kabasele or Sema doing that effectively.

That Wendover is a funny chap. He was pro Pozzo, then became very disillusioned and was anti-Pozzo, then he went to the Q&A, spoke to Giaretta and fell head over heels again. You can’t say anything against the club again now. He’s back defending it to the hilt.

I totally agree with you for once Gino is merely the current custodian of our club but he isn’t going anytime soon and I think until he does you will find more peace by moving on. Oh I’ll call out a poor performance which there indeed were plenty of last season. I’d like to think I’m pretty balanced with my opinions. You’re however the type of guy that if Gino handed you a fifty pound note as a gift who would moan that there was a crease in it.

I’ll give you one final response and then disengage so it doesn’t become a long spat:

1). Please stop bringing mental health into a discussion where someone disagrees with you. People can be strongly anti Pozzo and be perfectly happy and positive in other aspects of their lives.

2) You are a person who didn’t get selected in the ballot but still made sure they got invited to the fans forum with Pozzo. Since then you have done your part with pro regime propaganda across social media. As such I think your views are compromised.

 

I go to every single game home and away, the campaign Parlaci Gino was actually my idea. I think I deserved to attend. I actually called it Talk to us Gino which was executed by the excellent DNSYE team into Parlaci. I just don’t get this back seat constant criticism. If I felt like you did I’d pause and do something else, maybe follow a Rugby, Hockey or any ilk of team. I’d then return when was happy with the ownership.

 

Wendover is a Tier One fan. Views from the back seat season ticket holders are not to be tolerated. His views are more important and he deserves to be able to air them at fan forums and assorted social media phone ins. Even if the topic is what takeaway he is having.

 

I never said I’m a better fan than you or anybody is I’ve never said or even implied that. Let’s leave it there, I feel that you are the type of guy who’d have an argument on his one in a phone box. Yes I’ll never understand why a true fan can stay away wherever they live in the world from even occasionally visiting the Vic. I actually had a great career opportunity in the 90s which would have meant thag I had to live in the states for 2 years. Not being able to go and watch Watford hone and away was one of the main reasons I declined the opportunity but I guess we’re all different.

 

That would be detrimental, imagine only having the happy clappy fans turn up week in week out, we'd be left with 8000 fans and most likely no owner/fan meeting. It's far healthier to have a wide range of fans, fans like yourself that go week in week out, the diehard loyals, those in the middle who don't really care that much about the club off the pitch, those that are 100% anti-Gino etc.

Ultimately I imagine the club would prefer a packed stadium week in week out with fans from all views than a half-empty stadium.

“Pozzo is not Watford” is the key phrase here. You can still love the club but hate the owners ? Very few fans will decide they hate their team and the club itself just because they hate the owners. Following the logic that the owners of the club are the all important factor, are there other clubs and teams that you support at the moment simply because you like their owners ?

No. I don’t think you can truly support another team once it is in your blood. I like seeing Brighton and Brentford do well but it’s not the same. So while Pozzo has turned my club into a manipulative, mendacious, insidious organisation I’m kind of left with nothing but regret.

All that said if they genuinely pay off a vast chunk of the external debt by next year, I’ll be very impresssed and have to admit I was wrong about their ability to financially manage the club and reassess if I am wrong about their other intentions. But for me we are a long way from that yet.

 

For me, whilst getting the debt under control is a good thing, it’s a debt the ownership has levied on the club himself. It’s like going around your house smashing every window then being praised for employing a glazer to fix the problem. But it wouldn’t have been a problem in first place had you not smashed your windows, just as the debt would not have been so bad had the club been managed correctly.

We’re having to water down the squad for the fourth year running because of ownership incompetence.

Maybe we’ve found a way to buck the trend by signing players with a winning attitude over ability, but that’s to be seen if that tactic works. So far, I’ve got to say, with Manga and the reach of our new scouting network, we’ve yet to see anything. Livermore, Ince and Healey are players even Bassini could have picked up.
