    Hi Guys,

I come in peace as my name and title suggests. There is ALOT of talk in South Wales that Malky is about to be named as our new manager. Apparently despite reports last week, he has intact met with the Cardiff board regards to taking over at the CCS. I'm just looking for some honest opinions really. IF Malky does indeed get named on Monday, what are his best and worst qualities??

    Cheers

can we have a link to some evidence of this? our board has come out and said there has been no contact from your club regarding mackay. you may well have met with his representatives, but sincerely doubt you have met with the manager.

also i reckon we will be due some compensation, the 300k mentioned is not nearly enough. if you do end up getting permission to speak to him then expect to pay more than half a mil.

as for what you are getting if he does go to you; he has done well with limited funds, but he has had a very good youth academy behind him here. im not saying that cardiff dont have a good academy but i doubt its quite as good as harefield.

other than the increased wage at cardiff not sure really why he would want to leave?

I would assume that even the Colonel wouldn't be incompetent and stupid enough to come out and deny any contact and then allow Malky to leave on Monday without any prior announcement of such contact. That truly would be indefensible.

I would say that you would be very lucky to get Malky as he is a good young manager that knows how to get the most out of squads with a lack of depth that work on small budgets, as you will seemingly be next season. He can also get the most out of youth, which I would imagine you would be relying on next season. He has also improved on his tactical management and selections and substitutions have been excellent this season in comparison with his first season with us so I would definitely not want to see him go as he is the most important person at this football club at the moment and has done wonders for the club as a player, a coach and a manager.

I would definitely rate him higher than Chris Hughton who I do not particularly rate as a good manager. He did well from the easy ride he got at Newcastle and the whole victim persona he gained when he left and was only popular with the players because he was basically their mate. Would get shown up big time if he went to you.

Didn't the statement this week state that no formal/official contact had been made?

Your ''topcat'' fella reckons he will be the bookies favourite for the job...he has been for a couple of days already. He was also favourite for the burnley/west ham job at some point.

Oh dear, one poor soul on there thinks that they are going to sign Bellamy.

He turned down Burnley, a stable, well-run club that could give him a decent budget and have realistic Premiership ambitions, to stay here so I have no idea why he would want to go to Cardiff unless he feels that certain things at our club have significantly changed for the worse since January.

apparently Bellamy has told the cardiff board who he wants to be the manager. MM and him played together at norwich.

Also says that MM is furious about player sales.

To be fair, there are a few things on here that you seem to know about but don't really and I wouldn't exper you to being Watford fans

Re Bellamy: you will see in the next few days that 5 Manchester City players will have their contracts canceled in orderto bring their huge wage bill down. These will be people like Santa Cruz, Jo and BELLAMY! he will then sign a two year deal with Cardiff. At the end of that deal, there will be an option for a further year for a player/coach.

Our squad next season: The Malaysians have heavily invested over the past 18 months and have done wonders in sorting out our debts left by the previous dreamteam of Hammam and Ridsdale. They have already indicated to all potential candidates that the money they will have to spend next season will be £20m. This however will take into consideration wages. Our wage bill last season was £16m but considering we've already let people like Bothroyd, Burke and Chopra (combined £40k+ a week), it is more than likely the actual transfer budget will be in te region of £5m. There are also ALOT of decent free transfers so I would suggest that building a squad will only be hampered by time rather than resources.

As for Mackay; This was purely meant to be fact finding mission. I never intended to kick the hornets nest (to can see what I did there). We've also been linked with Mark Robins and Derek Inness who I would rather rip my eyes out than watch them manage our club. Personal preference would lie with Di Matteo and then Hughton but I'd rather Mackay to Robins and McInnes.

Anyway, cheers for the insight you have given me and good luck for the season ahead. You gave us two superb games last season and hopefully you can build on last seasons good effort.

Has this foreign fan come in peace? He better have, Ill just go and check, if he hasn't then grrrrr Ill use some hooligan-sub-cockney insult that noone under the age of 45 uses nowadays like "jog on" or "do one" or I may even tell him to "do some jogging"

    Oh he has...

    Shame.

This is what I posted on the other thread. Admin, they should be merged.

EXACTLY. I'm still confident that Malky will not go for a number of reasons.

Firstly just 2 days ago, Bassini said we DO NOT WELCOME ANY APPROACHES for Mackay. That to me backs up the official statement released on Tuesday that we have had no official approach.

As Hollywood said, he is supposed to be meeting the new Head of Recruitment to mull over targets. For the first time since his appointment Mackay will be given a fair amount of money for the transfer markets. The guy still hasn't finished what he started here, to get us back to the premier league, he wants to get us there as thats what we gave him when others didn't.

IF Mackay goes, I will be very very shocked. It is such a sideways move at best. The club will struggle financially in the future and he'll find he's moved back 2 years in management, to when he was cutting costs before.

I do admire the cockiness though, not necesserily of you, but of some of the Cardiff City forums. There is this 'belief' that Mackay is nailed on and why would he turn Cardiff down? As he can be 'part of your history'

As I have said before, if Malky leaves, i'm not confident in our league survival

EDIT - Just seen this little treat. Another case of one of your forum members getting it wrong. "Man City will cancel Bellamys contract and he WILL sign for free"

    Please, take a look here - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tunned-Manchester-City-demand-4m-striker.html

Well considering Bas has told us no 'official' approach has been made by anyone and would not be welcome, then it sounds like an illegal approach.

So if MM does go to Cardiff, expect a stiff fine and heavy compensation.

However considering the FA and FL seem to allow Cardiff to do as they wish, we'll probably end up paying Cardiff compensation and facing a fine for subjecting them to so much trouble.

Unless Malky demands to leave/speak to Cardiff I presume Bassini will keep to his word...

Have to say he didn't exactly rule out going to Burnley did he in January..just we refused to let MM speak to them.

Regarding the cockiness, I wouldn't say that people expect him to just come but I totally disagree that Cardiff is a sideways step. With all due respect, the last three seasons we have been on the brink of promotion whereas WFC have been more concerned with staying up. Just because you have £3.5m from our inbred friends down west, I wouldn't think you suddenly have a right to be challenging the top 3, especially as you have just sold your two best players.

Our directors want Premiership football now and that was the main reason behind DJ going. They will heavily back the new manager so between the wages, the transfer kitty and the chance if managing a Prem team in the next few years, I'd say there is enough there to sway most potential manager be it Malky or others. As I've stated, Mackay wouldn't be either of my first two choices as I feel he hasn't got enough experience, especially regarding promotion but no doubting he'll be a top manager, managing in the Prem very soon.

Re Bellamy: Daily Mail?? Oh please!

Good point about the tabloids there!

It would be interesting to see how Malky coped with the pressure of having to achieve promotion because as you suggest here it was a case of getting to 52 points etc...which even Malky himself admitted.

I would not be in the slightest bit surprised if the club announced tomorrow that a deal between them and Cardiff has been agreed and announce his departure on Tuesday when he has in fact already gone.

Personally, I don't believe that Malky would have ever gone to Cardiff a couple of months ago and the fact that he turned down Burnley to sign a new contract here shows that he was very commited and loyal to the club only a couple of months ago. So for all the people saying that the Colonel won't be to blame if Malky goes as it will be his decision look again. I'm not saying that Malky will go but if he does I think there is one cause and one cause alone.

Let's just hope that Colonel Bas can give Malky genuine assurances to persuade him to stay in private rather than giving lip service in front of the media.
