Not too down as I just couldn't see us winning this one. We haven't been able to capitalise when we've gone top before and the fact it was their new managers first home game, teams usually tend to win and try extra hard to impress the new guy. If we had played this lot 2 weeks ago with a full strength side we would have won easily.
This was always likely to happen. Birmingham were desperate to wipe out the memory of a 8-0 home defeat. Playing the team top of the table under a new manager, is going to give them massive motivation. Our manager clearly under-estimated them, with a very strange team selection. I never can understand why managers decide to play a weaker team against weaker opposition. We've only got one more game before the international break and they can all rest then. Ipswich away on Saturday will be a very tough match, even if we are at full strength, so why pass up an opportunity for 3 points? Birmingham must have been very nervous before the game, but we just give them the lead after 90 seconds, which must have settled them down, even though we did equalise quite quickly. Make no bones about it, Birmingham are a poor side, fully motivated or not. I think we, as fans, could all see what would likely happen once the team sheet was produced. Tonight is a game where we should have taken 3 points. This is probably the first game this season where we've under-achieved though, so I don't think the team deserves too much abuse for it. It's just frustrating as hell, when managers make obvious mistakes with a team selection, as we all could see the likely outcome.
Such wit! Did Burnley with a squad of approximately 18 pros last season ever rest a player for a league game. No. Can't you ever admit when the club are horrendously in the wrong?
I don't think anyones saying start with the same 11 every game, but rotate a player for each game (Vydra one week, Abdi the next, Ekstrand the next, FF the next etc), rather than making 5/6 changes that will severely weaken your team. Keep some balance.
No lessons learned. Do we not research the other teams & see new manager good result on Saturday so will be well up for it. The marking is shocking & think it's time Anya, Doyley & McGugan moved on. As soon as the team was announced you could see Bristol City away again. Arrogance is shocking
I suppose Anya in CM was worth a go but after seeing him look completely out of his depth vs Boro, why try it again tonight?
So where have you been? We wouldn't have heard from you if we'd won snookielumps. So that just makes you look like an idiot, honeybunny.
The club? You mean the coach right? Or does your keyboard only have keys for 'club', 'Pozzo's out', 'boo' and 'pornhub' on it?
Paredes, Pudil, Anya and Dyer yet we played with no width... Grrrrrr I know we won 3-1 on Sat with Andrews but there's a reason Bottom of the league Bolton let us have him! Personally he offers us very little and however much we rant about Munari, like Andrews he also stands off, and when you have Tozer who is a defensive midfielder we just invite teams to come at us... We scored from 3 set pieces on Sat and Millwall had 60% possession, I thought bar a 15 min period we were poor. Stop changing the formation every 2 minutes, stop rotating the players, get rid of Andrews get a ball player in the center of the pitch and play with some Width.
Vydra, Deeney, Ighalo, Forestieri have just been trumped by Clayton Donaldson. Clayton Donaldson. I don't know how to feel about that.
I hope Joka learns that Anya is no good as part of a midfield three, was poor too against Middlesborough Can't see Anya, Mcgugan or Doyley moved on, we need them to fulfill our homegrown quota
That was absolutely ****ing **** poor I never want to see Anya in a Watford shirt again. No football brain whatsoever Waste of *****ng money and time. Doyley was great.
It's fascinating how with a few injuries our squad turns into a mid table team - I'd like to see some good rotation players brought in in january
Players being played out of position, too many changes, far too slow tempo, team way too narrow which leaves us wide open at full back. tonight's result was coming I think. We're a good side when we get on the ball and dominate but we can't do that with such an unbalanced side or for 46 games a season. The basic frame of the team leaves far too many gaps for my liking. 433 is a popular formation but the Xmas tree of 4321 leaves us wide open. Let's see what the boss does Saturday against a very well organised Ipswich. Still think we have the right players but most teams can't cope with 5 of their best players out on top of the mad team selection.
I'm going to go ahead and guess that Burnley and their squad of 41 professionals probably did rest a player in at least one of their league games last season, yes.
https://vine.co/v/OeBv1AXTFqb How about a little bit of marking? No good standing there waving your arms Paredes. You should have been competing for that header.
Bet you dollars to doughnuts that Burnley didn't rest half their team (including their star striker) in any single league game, though.
Joka must really not rate murray if he doesn't play him here and would rather play anya in central midfield.
Wasn't part of the Sannino fall out the fact that the Pozzos insisted on stats relating to a players fitness/need of a rest are forced upon a manager? Is the pointless tinkering used by Zola and now Jokanovic partly due to Pozzos interference/influence?? N.B. Above post heavily influenced by anger of tonight's result and a bottle of red. Unmarked in the box from a simple cross?? FFS The Anya in midfield experiment largely failed at boro so why repeat it?? SJ you have ****ed up tonight
He did a great job of breaking up play. Routine: Birmingham cross, we clear it straight back to them, Birmingham cross again. Great winger can't remember his name but he caused us problems like Fuller did. Need some proper wing backs. Parades was poor first half.
I doubt there's many out there who are sufficient quality to want to do that or be affordable. Welcome to the forum by the way.
