If this is even remotely true, you know he only went there for the salary. So they have basically signed a mercenary.

Considering the wages those three clubs are able to offer, I would hazard a guess that they are paying him at least £130k p/w if not more.

Bitter - maybe he went for Silva's attacking football which we all enjoyed. Or because there's a fellow Brazillian on the other flank or maybe for the brilliant Sigurdsson. Maybe he didn't want to play Simeone's defensive football and knew he couldn't compete with Hazard & Willian? All more valid than assuming he's a mercenary lol. The Everton bias is a bit embarrassing now.

What a strange post.

Not bitter at all, just pointing out the obvious. This has nothing to do with Everton, so not sure why you think that. I was pointing my finger firmly at him alone. You just wouldn’t pick Everton over Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, just to name a few unless it is for money. Of course he will say it was the Silva effect, but still, the toss up between the chance to play with world class players or Ashley Williams and Bolasie. Only money can help you make that decision.

If you’re given the choice of playing CL football and the possibility of winning medals, why wouldn’t you do that?

If he didn’t go there because of the reason of not being able to break into the team, then I think that adds even more to the cause of being a merc. If that’s his reasoning then he obviously wants the easy route as opposed to working hard. If he doesn’t believe in himself enough to earn a place then as a lot of people have pointed out that watched him, he is lazy.

 

Silva is the new Harry Redknapp and before long Silva will financially cripple Everton or some other club he pursuades to part with a lot of dosh.

I do recall Silva moaning about transfers to the media which suggests we stood strong against him.

 

They are swimming in cash. They can spend what they want. They don't need to turn a profit and have positive cashflow like we do.
