No need to apologise at all..all part of the general banter! What are your thoughts on Stam? What would be your ceiling if you were Pozzo? Personally, I'd not pay more than Spurs did for him.
Thanks. Yep, it would surprise me a bit if we did & I'd hate to see Levy take the p1ss. But the Pozzos & Co. know all about the true value of footballers. I have faith in their judgement. Also I can't help wondering if the new manager has had a hand in this interest. "Go and get Stambouli for me"
I rate him highly. And if we did sign him for 6 million, the earlier point that I made (that was slightly misread) was that we shouldn't really object because it's not our money! Fortunately..or I think we'd need a big whip around on here! I wonder who is our wealthiest poster on here? Not me for sure!
Thanks for the first paragraph. For the record, I think the agent is talking Bollox. We are at the start of an era I don't believe anybody has witnessed, and certainly not in my 40 years. We are still the underdog, slated and cast offs according to any bookies in the land. Let them all underestimate us, that's what I say !
Hello, i'm one of those Spurs fans! I really rate Stambouli and am surprised and bewildered he hasn't played more for us, especially considering how well he was playing when he actually got a run in the side in January. Alas, our manager is a moron who plays favourites so poor Benji seems destined never to get a proper crack for us. Another poor soul chewed up and spat out by our transfer policy! He's got excellent defensive instincts and good positioning, and is great at recycling possession. Is also a surprisingly solid and classy looking centre back when needed. Does seem to occasionally get bored and decide to entertain himself with a roulette turn or a back heel in his own box (!). Also tends to run himself into the ground so doesn't often finish matches strongly. Work ethic, character and leadership skills seem pretty exemplary (i've even seen him berate Vertonghen a couple of times which is only done by the very brave!). My hunch would be that this move might not happen because he'll want something a bit more high profile to give himself a chance of a national call-up. However, given what a frustrating year he's had and how shabbily he's been treated by us I can certainly see how the prospect of playing regularly at a club that seems to really want him would be very attractive, especially as you seem to be a good balance of ambitious and sensible and play some really lovely stuff. On that note, I wouldn't be surprised if you get a call from our academy trying to sort out a loan for one of our promising youngsters - we're pretty stocked and some of them are ready to break through now. Winks, Onomah and Walker-Peters might be names to look out for. Anyway, just wanted to speak up for him and also to say well done on getting back into the premier league and I wish you the best of luck for the season ahead!:sign15:
Thx for your feedback Fruitcake. I would love him to come, but have a feeling he ll go to a mid level EPL club, which is probably what his agent is trying to drum up as we speak, as it seems we ve made an offer thats been accepted by Levy. I guess what we can offer him is the Pozzos will be wanting to play him for 1 or 2 years and sell him on with a profit which could give him the big move he desires.
He won't come here, but I know Luke McGee and he said he's probably off on loan to League 1 this season. Some uninteresting ITK for you there.
http://www.oddschecker.com/football...n-stambouli/club-after-summer-transfer-window Do sky know something? 6/4 to join Watford.
Like I said, all I heard was an offer of 6 mill was made and expected to be accepeted by Levy. I can only guess its gone quiet because Stambouli didnt want to come to us . It maybe that he cant find a better deal and he still may come or we find someone else. It seems the Badu rumours are hotting up so if he signs then Stambouli would defo be off the cards, you d imagine.
A very general piece in the Sunday Telegraph today by Jason Burt saying there will be a mass clear out at Spurs with up to ten departures this summer. Lists five 'headline' players who are certain to leave and says deals have already been arranged for some. Stambouli is one of the five listed along with Lennon, Paulinho, Capoue and Kaboul.
Isn't there article written about Spurs like this every summer?? I think you're right though, they'll try to sell several players to recoup as much of the £80m a possible that they pissed away after Bale left.
I reckon Spurs are waiting to see what happens with Schneiderlin. Levy may use him in a player plus cash offer
My understanding (based only on posters on here and a couple of Spurs supporting friends) was that we have agreed a deal with Spurs but, as with Perotti, it's now a battle convincing him to come to us. At least in this case though, the player wants to stay in England, so it's not a case of having to sell the delights of our wonderful climate to him and his partner!!
