[NOT HAPPENING] Benik Afobe

I'm saying it now and I want this to be quoted at the end of the season. If Benik Afobe signs for us then he'll be a very useful addition and will score goals for us.

 

Or Forestieri. Does anyone feel we may have let him go too soon?

 

In his last two seasons for us (15/16 and 16/17) Troy managed 0.2 goals from open play per 90 minutes.

Last season (his first at Muff) Afobe managed 0.4 goals from open play per 90 miutes.

This season Afobe has yet to score, albeit he's hardly played and Muff have been dreadful (and with most of their strikers suddenly having gone off the boil).

He's still only 24 so might be worth a punt as an alternative rotation option/second-choice striker if we're getting rid of Deeney and probably Okaka, but he's not the clear upgrade on any of our current strikers which we're crying out for.

 

Trouble is an upgrade would be very very expensive ! I don't think we will be buying an upgrade.

 

Don't worry, if we do sign him I fully expect this statement to be thrown at you many, many times between now and May, not just at the end of the season.

 

Bring it on.

The good news is that The Times reckons there's a 7/10 chance of Afobe joining West Brom.

The bad news is that they think 6/10 chance of Dendoncker joining West Ham

 

The top end of the Championship is exactly the right place for him.

Afobe £110 000 a week

Howe would love to sell off Afobe. He is not rated by Howe or the players. He does not have pace and has the same control as Andre Gray.

 

What's your source?

 

It means if Ake was signed on a four year deal that the cost was a whopping £41 million + = Enormous money for a club Bournemouth's size. Defoe you could almost understand with no transfer fee. If those salaries are anywhere near close not a great return for a club with same goals difference and point less than our useless selves.

He's a championship player imo, would much rather we got Vydra back.

 

A google of Afobes wages indicates between 27k and 50k according to Star and Express which although not reliable sources sound more realistic

 

Really disappointed we didn't give Vydra a chance in the prem but I fear that ship has now sailed. I'm sure he would have done a better job as "the pacey frontman" than Gray has but we are where we are.......

 

Better chance of playing in the Premier League next season.
