Maybe he has not settled in the UK or maybe we are getting some money for him and we have a plethora of CBs. Either way it would not seem to be a major issue for us.
On the one hand, i don't think he fits in here, and also think he won't be first choice. On the other, he bossed it against Germany and showed that he has got the potential to be a great player. Renuiting with the former Algerian manager would be good for him
Pozzos must have thought it would be better if Belkalem was sold from Watford rather than Granada. Maybe we needed the money more, and the World Cup is a great shop window for someone who has otherwise been a back-up player.
It may just be contractually simpler to complete the deal between Granada and Watford first, especially if there were signing on fees or agent commission
Essaid Belkalem’s immediate future appears to lie away from Watford after Beppe Sannino confirmed the centre back has not been training with the club – with Turkish side Trabzonspor said to be interested. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._leave_Watford___with_Trabzonspor_interested/
One year loan deal agreed and confirmed by the club. So he plays for us while on loan, gets signed permanently then won't play for us! Curious and curiouser!
I think he punched above his weight at the World Cup and we have done the right thing by cashing in (assuming there's a tasty loan fee as part of the deal!)
Sounds like a good move both for him and for WFC. He's likely to play, if the manager wanted him, and might even play in Europa League if Trabzonsport goes beyong the play-off round (and that's quite a good shopping window).
with the HG rule if he wasn't in the starting line up then we'd struggle to put him on the bench. Would rather hoban got more opportunities. Good move for both club and player at this moment in time. I hope he does well.
Belkalem Signed for Trabzonspor on a one year loan today, us signing him permanently looks rather pointless now. It's a shame really as he is definitely good enough to be a regular here. Angella is the only CB we have that is better than him in my opinion. Maybe he will return if we have another season of awful defending...
I seen the similar but 500k maybe it included the wages. It's a good fee and will help with our costs this year.
We've made money on him already, temporarily got him off the wage bill AND we still own him. How is that a pointless signing? Sounds like a blinder to me.
Good riddance to bloody useless foreign scum. I would drive him.... ....to Dover, then take him on a small speedboat to Belgium, force him in an illegal taxi across to Switzerland, then smuggle him into a one engine Cessna for a short but hairy flight to Slovenia, then drive him hanging precariously underneath a EU regulation-infringing cattle transportation truck to Bulgaria, bribe him a passage across the Bosphourous, and then push him in a wheelbarrow for the last 280 miles ..... ....to Trabaznapor myself for half the anount of that money
