Our first game of the season promises to be a perfect storm for attendance.

    Indifferent fans cancelling season tickets.
    Summer holidays.
    Cost of living.
Match rearranged so even motivated fans may have alternative plans.

We could be in for an Earth shatteringly low attendance for this game.

Ironically this will be my first game since about January. I am relishing it.

I'm hoping to go. Will no doubt have to get a ticket in the far corner of the stand, but then turn up and be able to move to a better view from a choice of a thousand or so at kick off.

2000 away fans plus 13000 season tickets, plus other purchases will easily take this over 15000. How many people are actually there is a different question as it's in the middle of the school holidays so I'm sure there will plenty of fans who are unable to go

You know season ticket holders are included in the attendance figure even if they do not attend.
The bums on seats attendance is never really known.
I guess around 16,000, but the actual attendance to be lower for all the reasons mentioned on here plus St Albans City are at home.

  6. Knight GT

    Knight GT Predictor extraordinaire 2013/14

Yes, that's why the attendance will be comfortably over 15000, probably closer to 20000 but actual I would think would be 14000-15000

Probably 15-16,000 when you take away the season ticket holders on holiday etc. New season excitement, potentially a nice August afternoon and no international football over the summer should help boost the numbers.

The real indicator as to how much apathy there is will be when we get to the colder months and we're churning out mid-table performances week in week out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see attendances down to 10,000-12,000 against teams like Rotherham in November if things aren't going well.

At least it'll be nice and easy to get some prime seats this season without the Premier League hanger ons!

£35 - £40 tickets are an absolute disgrace considering the sh**e we've been served up over the last 4 years.

I’m not feeling or seeing much new season excitement on these boards. I’m sure that’ll change with a flurry of new signings next week

I think it will be lower to average attendance. Unless your Man City your not going to get a large crowd openning week, and I expect a lot of fans' will want to sit this one out in front of Crooks and Co' on Final Score just to see how we do. If we win, they may turn up in droves. Draw or god forbid lose, then that's quite a few more empty seats in future games. What the club should do, is offer match tickets to all home fans at £1.00. Just to see how many do actually take up the offer and turn up. Would be quite an interesting experiment.

@ITK platypus I was tempted by the first option initially just to see if that really did happen. Just think, the entire EJ and Family Stand to yourself. Boo the place down.

Hopefully not much so I can get a couple of tickets when they reach general sale on Friday!

Not going to the QPR game, but there were only 5 seats available in SEJ3 when I bought my Plymouth ticket yesterday.

Heading to the game as still cat A despite not having a ST anymore. Clear that most of the STs are in the SEJ and GT stands as not many groups of 2+ available in any of these on Monday.
Rookery and Family stand there were loads of seats still available.

I think we'll see a reasonable attendance for QPR as people will have just missed football, but don't think it'll take many bad results/performances for us to be back at what we were seeing at the end of last season (if not more empty) - where the club were doing the best to tell us our own eyes were lying and that there was 19k there rather than the 12/13k we were seeing

I'll arrange to be on holiday for this one.

Looking forward to seeing a stadium with only our very own Platypus and Harry Hornet in attendance.

Circa £15k. I think any excitement generated by the new season will be counteracted by holidays. Although I reckon there might me an away fans in the wrong areas boost.

Question for ST holders - what incentive is there for you to return your tickets to the club for any match you cannot attend?

I always get a bit frustrated that I can’t get any good seats next to my wife or daughter when we come up, yet on the day there’s loads of spaces available.

Is there some kind of legal reason the club couldn’t offer people say 25% of the money for any re-sold seats?

You can give your ticket to another fan ID I believe so if you can't go to games maybe offer it out on here?

  26. UEA_Hornet

    UEA_Hornet First Team Captain

There's no incentive. During the PL days they promoted the idea of people emailing them to release their seat, though even then they didn't give you a cut for doing it.

There's no legal reason why they couldn't facilitate full seat resales, let alone give a 25% cut. They just choose not to.

Fulham run a ticket exchange, so it's not without precedent: https://www.fulhamfc.com/tickets-and-hospitality/ticket-exchange/

The club may feel they are losing out because they could sell empty seats first, but for some, like me, I'm put off coming to sit in a fairly poor view seat because they aren't available, when in reality they are.

I've got 100% sympathy with you as that was my biggest bugbear for the handful of season where I wasn't an ST holder. The seats left available for match by match or occasional buyers are utterly abysmal. Hanging off the ends of stands or right at the front.

I think the club run scared of addressing any of these issues because a lot of ST holders react very strongly to the idea they might have to give up 'their seat' or move somewhere else to allow a change for the greater good.

Am I correct in thinking if it's a sunny day in August then the sun gets in your eyes in the SEJ stand?

  30. Jumbolina

    Jumbolina First Team

I’m no longer a ST holder but if they could be bothered to run a ticket exchange then problem solved. Club are just too lazy or greedy to do so, which considering the goons running the club is no surprise.

  31. Jumbolina

I reckon this might get sticky if club not involved.

  32. Diamond

Absolutely it does. From end of March through to early October the sun rises above the GT stand. In August it will hit the whole of the SEJ. Just take a hat with a peak.

It's a bit nuts, if a ST holder can't/doesn't want to go (me from Feb to May last season) they could resell it and give me half. The club and the disillusioned fan get money. Someone who actually wants to go gets to go.

    Everyone wins surely?
