You don't help yourself do you? Seriously, a quick check of Wikipedia before you once again post something you have no clue about would do you the world of good.

Very true but on Saturday in the second half Feminia in particular started to get crosses into the box. And guess what Okaka got the ball in the net but disallowed on a technicality (offside). My point is we are not Man City and cannot run straight through most defences. We have to get early balls into the box to give ourselves a chance. Amrabat is not the answer - don't care if it's Lennon or Young as both an upgrade. Age is always immaterial if one is good enough - nobody says that about Defoe. Would have loved Ghezzal however. The only thing that would lift my mood. At present is a WP for Richarlison.

I'm confused. In your most recent posts on here you state you'd rather have Lennon (little football, very few assists) over Young (proven ability to deliver a cross and can play both sides)? Although not playing regularly, Young has played to a consistently high level and has been respected by Ferguson, LVG and Mourinho enough to still be at Man Utd - yet he's not good enough for us and you'd rather a player who has done very little for a while now just because he's a couple of years younger? Like you say, we are all entitled to our opinions but I find your thought process on this one baffling.

Ashley Young would be a great signing, especially considering we are struggling to get players in and how versatile he is.

Not read the whole thread as I have just seen this, so apologies if this has been said already. Maybe Jose could loan Ashley to us and we could pay part of his wages? That might work for both us and ManU?

We have done by getting a new manager.

They've played a similar amount of Premier League football the past two season and Lennon has more goals and the same amount of assists. I don't think Lennon would be a great signing either, I just think he'd be decent and I'd personally have him over Young purely for the fact he is a full two years younger, has greater pace and would be less of risk were we to sign him permanently.

As mentioned previously, I don't see how having a 34 year old Ashley Young sitting on what would likely be a big wage in couple of years time is going to do us any good. He could quite easily be finished as a Premier League player within the next year, if not sooner. A loan? OK, fair enough, he might do a job for a season, but in my opinion he would be a very short sighted, poor permanent transfer.

He's not a miracle worker, he isn't suddenly going to turn Amrabat into Hazard and Okaka into Lukaku. There are players in this squad that simply just are not upto the job and there is also a serious lack of depth in attack, meaning if we suffer with injuries again we will be royally screwed.

I think he would make a great addition to our squad. His experience would be great in that dressing room.

I always remember lineker saying as a striker it was his job to attack the space in the box not the job of the winger to put it on his head. Their job was to beat the FB and ping the ball into dangerous areas. His job was to anticipate roughly where and get there first.

Much as I like Deeney, our current striker options must be the weakest in the league.

Come on now. You can clearly see what Silva has done to the defence, we look a lot more solid. But we have good players like Janmaat, Prodl, Kabasele, Cathcart, Kaboul and Holebas to work with. Silva can't magically give Amrabat a final ball or make Success get a brain and a touch overnight. We need quality up front and quickly.

Id much prefer Ashley Young to Lennon, however neither would be my favoured solution unless we desperately need a HG player to fill the squad places, or a cheapish option so more funds can be allocated for a striker. This could also help us spend more on a winger next season.

In my opinion there is a huge gulf in quality between Lennon and Young. 1 is a carbon copy of Amrabat who can dribble but is very wasteful(possibly a slightly upgrade?), the other played under Fergy, Van Gaal and Mourinho and has spent 6 years at United.

People saying Lennon has more goals/assists over the last few seasons, hasn't Young done quite a lot of covering at LB/RB over the last few seasons rather than on the wing? I find Mourinho teams unbelievably boring to watch so rarely do and could be wrong about this though. I just seem to remember Mourinho praising him for his versatility in an interview a while ago

If someone like Defoe can still do a good job for Sunderland and Bournemouth at the age of 34/35 then there's no reason why Young couldn't for us at the age of 32. I'd say they are of similar quality overall and appear to be professionals who have kept themselves in good shape over the years.

That's just speculation though. Sure, all things being equal, a 32 year old Young should be able to perform like 34 year old Defoe. But they're not equal, because there's overwhelming evidence of Defoe still being a top Premier League goalscorer with 30 goals in two seasons and very little to suggest Young has that same longevity.

Agree with you. Lennon can do one thing and do it well. Young can cover lots of positions and as we know is a great free kick taker. Young would be a great addition to the squad, Lennon a good one.

I'd rather have a slower man who can cross a ball accurately than one who can run fast and can't.

Young and Lennon are different calibre of players .

Lennon would never have got near the Man Utd team . He was in the Spurs team when they were nt part of the top echelon and that was the peak of his career .

Our current best player , Pereyra , is playing for Watford at the peak of his career .

Too play regularily for one of the top tier teams of European football you have to be an exceptionally talented player . The only way one of those would ever play for Watford is on the way up or on the way down .

Very little other than being rated by every United manager since he's been there? If he didn't have longevity or work-rate, he'd be first out the door under a manager like Mourinho.

Totally agree, don't know why people are so excited about this! Young hasn't played a proper season in about 3 years, I think we should be aiming at buying younger hungrier talent and thinking about long term investments not expensive reunions. Sure he was a great player for us back in the day but he's well past that now.

Not sarcastic. I hate anyone who simulates or dives and Young is one of the worst offenders. I'd rather be relegated than have him in the squad. Imagine my delight last season when Harry wound up the bell end Zaha.

    Play the youth.

Too true...can't accuse Mourinho of being sentimental. He is ruthless even with his favourites. It is a no contest between Ashley and Lennon. Would still prefer the latter to Amrabat as he can get past the last man. Ashley is different class and has proved versatile. As for money it's not our's so should we worry? So long as Gino keeps money back for a decent striker I don't really care.

It's not the fact we don't agree. I like exchanging differering views. But to say you'd rather get relegated than have Ashley Young in the team is beyond mad.

As for the youth thing, I'd agree...if we had a youth team that is performing well. But we don't. It is underfunded so the progression is nowhere near what it needs to be to have regular PL standard players coming through.

Quite right. We should be in the market for players like that Will Hughes of Derby. Maybe even Chalobah could be tempted to leave Chelsea and you'd think that with the Pozzo's so called worldwide talent net we'd be able to get some exciting young players from South America on board.
