If you can do 20 miles you will be able to do 26, if you do the London one, the best marathon in the world by miles, the adrenalin will kick in and you will complete it as long as you are serious with training, lucky enough to have run it twice, done New York, Paris and Berlin and none come close to London, can be difficult to get a place though, if you are only doing one, do London.

Just signed up for the MK Half on May 2nd. The original plan was to do the full marathon but nearly 5 weeks of injury put me too far behind. I'd get round but I want a decent time.

Hoping to beat my best half marathon time of 1 hour 44 mins.

I made the mistake of booking Blackpool marathon for this weekend well before our cup run. Have made sure nothing booked for the finals weekend.

A nice flat course in the main, should allow you a good go at beating your PB.

does anyone here know of any apps we could use to create a wfcforums group and race against each other, or more boringly, give encouragement? i´ve only just started running again today after a year long injury lay off so i´m a bit out of the loop on whats popular and what is technologically popular. but if any of you jerks want to give it a go, i´d totally down for it

Channel 4 has go a program on the Brighton Marathan this mormoning for those who may want to watch or for those who actually ran it maybe able to see themselves.

Strava is one way of seeing how other runners are getting on. You can follow people, send messages etc.

yeah, but i think that would only be a way of following people as individuals right, as opposed to a group kind of thing? maybe this is a niche in the market ready for a young person to exploit?

Yeah it's more of a following thing rather than a group thing.

Well had a fantastic day competing in the London Marathon and finished in 3.47, well chuffed for my first full marathon!
Absolutely gutted with our result though so it wasn't the best end to the day!

Congrats, very good time. I would rather have been running the marathon than be at Wembley!

I can only assume it's cleehorn. Frankly you may as well close the group now cos he's going to win it :D

Under 4 hours for your first marathon, that is one hell of an achievement, congratulations, on the train back last night there were a few runners on there, it really made me want to do one last one, but i dont think my knees forgive me. If you are doing another one, Paris is pretty good and easy to get into, well at least it was 15 odd years ago, no where as good as london though

oh well, the experiment was fun while it lasted. at least by virtue of living in a hilly area i can be content at not being last in the elevation rankings.

Thanks everyone and iamofwfc I'm already thinking of doing another one maybe Berlin later this year but if Paris is still easy to get in then that's worth looking into as well. I'm going to try the ballot again for London as it opens next week but if I don't get in that way may consider a charity place as it's such an great experience!

Paris is fantastic & easy to enter. What it lacks in atmosphere (London) it makes up for in scenery & things to look at.

Had a shocker in Blackpool Sunday so resting for a few weeks can hardly walk at moment.

I've booked Bassingbourn half for July. I found having no event meant I had sod all motivation to get out running.

Wycombe has half marathon around that time that I'm planning on doing.

I saw that but there was something about it that put me off - can't remember what it was but I'm not certain it is a standard half marathon road race. I've looked at loads of events over the past few weeks though so I could be getting confused.

I've got an urge to do a European half marathon. My missus, despite being a runner and loving exploring Europe, doesn't have the same desire to combine the two but she's given me the nod to go and do a half with a mate next year. He is training for London so to tie in with his training plan he wants it to be in Jan or Feb, preferably Feb.

I've had a look around and have seen a half in Barcelona, a few in Italy etc. so there seems to be some options to explore. Has anybody got any experience of doing overseas half marathons before? Any tips?

It hasn't got a UKA race licence which means results aren't on RunBritain. I've also seen people complain the timing is done on gun time only and doesn't include chip time, meaning unless you start at the front your time will be slightly higher than it should be.

Finished the MK half in 1 hour 40 mins 21 seconds. Slightly off target of sub 1:40 but still a PB by over 4 mins.

Cheers lads. Christ I'm feeling it now. Not sure 8 pints of ale was the correct fluid to take in afterwards.
