Hoskins started once under Malky and was a sub in the other games. To be honest I hope we sell him, alright player at this level but is someone who's wages aren't worth keeping. I can see him at a lower club with money, someone like P'Boro, Millwall, Huddersfield, or MK Dons.
He played a bit under Malky if I remember correctly when he was in caretaker charge. I was having this discussion with a mate the other day. I'd like to see him given a run of 7-10 games, then we'll be able to make a much more informed judgement on if he's good enough for this level or not.
The problem with Hoskins is his attitude. Last time MM was manager he dropped him and Hoskins spat the dummy and was left out longer. I think he could be a good little player but on his wages surely we are looking to sell.
not good enough under Boothroyd, MM or Rodgers. Forest didn't want to keep him when they were promoted. A league 1 player at best, but is unlikely to want to move with the money he is on
He will probably go. But with Smith very likely to go and Priskin another possibility. Only leaves us with Hoskins? I dont really count Henderson (couldnt get into Hartlepool's team) or Young(doesnt even score at reguarly at Reserve level)
Young often plays as a striker but is more of an attacking midfielder. Hendo actually did alright at H'Pool but they brought in other strikers as well like Jamie Guy from Doncaster, Daniel Nardiello, and Keigan Parker who have more experience then Henderson, who was brought in to provide more squad options, also the return of Joel Porter from injury also came back into the team. Henderson will do fine as a squad member next season IMO, he has impressed in the reserves and did pretty decent when he came on as a sub in the first team so I imagine unless he goes out on loan then he'll alright for us.
Get rid, he's shyte. Not good enough at this level and if the rumours of him being on 7K per week are true then definately flog him to any bidder. Plus he'll throw a strop at any possible opportunity.
He's an ok player, not great but then again, not useless either. At his age he could easilly improve & end up a very decent striker in the Championship. Miles behind Priskin at the moment though. Usefull to have around, but if we get a decent offer I'd ship him out.
I am going to disagree with most of you, I think that Hoskins might just be the man to step up to the plate if we lose Smiffy and Priskin. He is just that little bit older now and hopefully more mature in his attitude. If I was him I would see the departure of Smiffy, Priskin and to a certain extent Theo, as my chance to cement a 1st team place. Therefore if I were him I would bust a gut to impress MM over the summer. Lets face it he certainly looked a good player when we signed him, but in retrospect maybe he was not ready to make the step up, however he could be ready now? So lets hope that is the case, because if Smiffy, Priskin and Theo do go, it looks like we will be seriously lacking in fire power!!! Unless of course MM has a new Mo Johnson tucked away north of the boarder :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:
Forest did want to keep him, but he injured his back which put an end to that move. Give the fella a decent run in the team, and then judge him. When I have seen him he always looks up for it, it's just that due to sucessive managers I haven't seen him as often as I believe I should have. Adie obviously had a falling out with him, and Brendan "integrity" Rogers preferred his 4-5-1 formation and if there is one thing Will is not, it is a lone striker. All those saying he has attitude, throws a strop, etc. is that personal experience or are you just repeating what you have read or heard? Personally I would have the hump if I was taken from a team where I was free scoring and a terrace hero thinking this is my big break and then dumped into the reserves, or constantly loaned out for 3 years. Not exactly going to endear him to our club is it. Also assume he reads these boards and sees the uninformed crap written about him? it is a wonder he hasn't put in a transfer request long ago. Will Hoskins may be the only accredited striker that we have come the start of the season, we have sold Theo, Tommy has to go, if a decent offer comes in for Tamas he's gone, Rasiak won't be back, and Henderson is unproven. I really fear for us this season.
Nak you can tell your a youngun when you refer to those clubs as `lower` Well be looking up at at least 2 of them within 2 years
I hope he is given a chance, he had a spell last season where he looked very good. I agree with others that say he needs a run in the team, he looks to me like the sort of player that needs a metaphoric manhug every now and then to remind him he's valued but get him on song and he could do really well next season. Having said that I do also fear he could be a player who should have been good but never quite made it, he will certainly test MM management skills. Good luck to both of them, we will need him scoring goals next season.
Agree 100 per cent, espeicially with Will being a bit of a terrace hero at Rotherham and then being dumped on the sidelines for the last 3 years. I wouldnt be too chuffed at constantly being overlooked and left on the bench. Personally I think hes done well to stop with us for so long. What Will needs is a run in the side, to give him a bit of confidence and most importantly experience. Players, espeicially strikers, only improve and retain their sharpness by playing regularly. Come on Malky, give the lad a go, he deserves it.
Frog with hairs - The problem with wfc fans is, everyones a useless canut, boooo boooo booooo. Kind of agree with VOR ( oh shyte I feel iit) - but not as the main striker - I think WH and TP can and would form a very good partnership. Muff and Noddy on the flanks - Hosks behind Tam - 60 goal seasos. Get the defence right and on;y concede 40 - play offs at worst! Russos Russos takin us up, Russos takin us up!
Hoskins should be given a chance and then we can see how hes doing in January, specially cosidering he could be our only striker. If all of our strikers go I wouldnt mind seeing Cowie as a Attacking Mid or as a Second Striker
it doesn't matter how much of a run he gets in the side, he's not good enough. Why would Rodgers play the best winger in the division, Smith, in the centre if Hoskins was that good ? He's not thats why
yep for 10 game. and the other 20+ since November ? so the agreement is that Hoskins wasn't good enough as a striker to keep winger from taking his place
Hoskins is good enough + when we didnt play Smith upfront we played Rasiak and Priskin, so that is why he wasnt playing
Rogers also played a 4-6-0 formation during one game he is not that tactically astute, it took him at least 4-5 games to see the formation that the fans knew we should have been playing all along. Besides Rogers is a c_nt so who gives a flying 5hite what he thought!
We played Priskin and Rasiak 3 or 4 times once smith was injured. So now he is behind, Priskin, Rasiak, Smith there is a reason, guess what it is:forehead:
Rasiak....Gone not coming back Smith....Told he has to go Priskin....Bet your ass we are open to offers for him I guess that puts Will as first choice striker.
I think he is quite good and it showed when he got played regularly but his situation is similar with tevez as they werent played enough and had to deal with being dropped often for others. I rate him a bit but if his wages are high like some people think then get rid of him. If he stays i can see him being used a bit as it is high unlikely that both or even one of smithy and priskin will be here next season
