With Almen injured for as long as he has been, by rights Watford should be 24th. Be grateful we have scored any point at all since he left us.
"Abdi has also played as many key passes than any other Watford player this season (21), despite only making 5 apps." "Almen Abdi has a higher average of key passes per game (4.2) than any other player in the Championship." "Despite only making 5 league apps this season, Almen Abdi still has more assists this season than any other Watford player." We'll be even better when he gets back. I'd almost forgotten how important he is for us. PS: No, I don't know what constituted a 'key pass'.
I don't think we will see back Abdi before Christmas. I just got a feeling that kind of injury is one that's not obvious to its recovery period. With all this time out and unable to keep full match fitness, I doubt we will see him in the first team again this year, in fact I predict the FA cup match would be his first match back. Hope I'm proved wrong but expect Johan back before him.
Hopefully he will play in a behind closed doors match tomorrow or Thursday to see if his fitness is good enough for Monday.
I'm pretty certain he has a similar problem to one I had a few years ago. Relaxing at home a few hours after a particularly hard shift at work I stood up and felt an excruciating pain under my left heel even though I'd done nothing to injure myself. It felt like I had a ball bearing strapped to my foot though X-rays showed nothing, not even inflammation and doctors suspected some kind of unusual tendon injury (though I've always believed that it was just a trapped nerve). It was so painful that could not put weight on it for several weeks and overall I'd say it took about four months to clear.
I had it when I was 14, I played match no problems, but about 30 mins after I couldn't put weight on my heel, pain was so bad, after a few days it would go, then come back after football training. I took a season out and then was fine, takes a long time to be able to play sports 100 per cent if it is the same thing
Nope ... I was checked for and cleared of Plantar fasciitis ... However I suffered the odd ganglion on my wrists and did wonder if I may have had the equivalent for feet (but obviously more deep seated), painless on wrists but then I never tried walking on them.

Bad news indeed... I remember Kevin Phillips in the 90s had some sort of strange foot injury that took months to clear up. Hope its not the case here (already been 2..)
Disaster... Need to use a system now that includes fessi and fabrinni to there full potential... 4-3-3 and let them run riot up top
Disappointing news, but boys and girls, we need to get a grip. I hope Zola is not "crying" or claiming its a disaster. You get on with things and fight for the cause. Make it difficult to get his place back. Encourage others to step up and prove themselves.
Humour went over my head! Highly paid, in a relative sense, players need to continue to cover his absence in a determined and professional manner in the short term. Glad to see you are not too upset!!
Almen Abdi is the best player in the Championship and has been since his first game. I think it's ok for us to cry about him being injured indefinitely.
The time has come for Zola to find his best team and work with them. Abdi is obviously struggling and unlikely to be back for a while.
The underside of the heel is part of the sole and though Zola's English is quite decent, he doesn't always find the word he's searching for. This latest setback sounds exactly like the one I experienced and believe me, the pain is excruciating, it really does feel like you've just stamped on a marble. It's probably getting better but expect another two months yet, maybe more.
