Schaub proving yet again he's not an elite QB. Bracing myself for a city-wide meltdown when the Seahawks come and lay it down on the Texans this coming weekend. Myfantasy team is 3-0 though.

Hey, Week 3 was a bad week for most. Quite a few upsets on the "expected" results.

I know that my lack of understanding helps to taint my opinion of this sport. But, I have done my best to watch Pittsburg v Minnisota on Ch 4 just now.

But start, stoooooop, start, stooooop, start, stoooooop!

    Not for me, unfortunately.

Wouldn't have been exepecting this Seahawks Texans score at this stage.

Don't blame you. As much as I like NFL, I cannot stand watching it. I'll only watch the big games (Conference final and Superbowl) and occasional big games for the Bills. BBC also do a good highlights show (well they did last year, I'm not sure they're doing it for this season).

He put me off when he first said "deeefence" rather than the correct "defence" :naughty:

Now I feel as though I understand the game pretty well, and have built up allegiances to certain teams across the NFL and College game, I can happily sit and watch games all day long. Now I've got a baby, my Saturday afternoon consists of watching college ball from 12:30 when the football in England is done with, until about midnight when the PAC-12 games come to an end.

As for the Texans, the only joy I get from them is when I get to hear a grown man cry during a post-game radio phone-in show because "Matt Schuab freaking sucks".

Totally understandable. If I hadn't been raised with it, I doubt I could ever get into it.
The start stop thing makes it fun to watch with a group where you can drink and chit chat in between plays, but it takes so damn long.

When I started watching association football in my 30's, after only playing the sport and not really getting exposed to the game as a spectator growing up, I felt the games were so brief.

Buccs, you're killing me man. 10-0 up too. Give over.

Peterson had a great game yesterday, crowd would have been buzzing for all of it. Could've got a truck through that gap for his 2nd TD. Also loved Allen taking Rothlisberger out at least twice that I saw.

Really enjoyed the game yesterday, it was a real spectacle and a great atmosphere. Good game too, glad I got to see AP score a pretty impressive touchdown.

Only thing I didn't enjoy... had a row of steelers fans behind me, with their 'terrible towels' what is that? It was like sitting in front of a row of fans, it got quite cold! They kept hitting me in the head too. Why do they do that? Why a towel? It did look quite cool though.

Basically, started as a gimmick and just went from there - profits go to charity I think.

Looks brilliant at Heinz Field when the whole crowd is going.

Pittsburgh is a small, sad town, one where a towel can amuse people for a good long time.

They also kept saying... 'and thats another..... PITTSBURGH STEELERS FIRST DOWNNNNN!' Which was ok at first, but got annoying quickly.

Made me feel better when Keith Bulluck stamped on the "Terrible Towel" but I think it upset a few in "Steeler-nation".

Loved the result against the Jets, although worried about Jake Locker. Just when he was starting to get in the groove.

For a bit of a laugh, look at the Ryan Fitzpatrick pass for Nate Washington's touchdown. After Washington catches the pass and shrugs off the defensive back, he also has to pancake the back-judge to make it into the end-zone. Talk about having 12 men!

I do enjoy the commentary in the stadium, depending where you're sat it can be hard to see each gain obviously you have an idea but it helps follow the game.

It was the guys in the row behind me, which is wierd because I've just found out the guys behind me were he NY hornets, the guys behind the flag. How wierd! Hahah

You lot have Fitzpatrick?! He was sooooo bad last year for us, I was pretty glad when he left. Watch how he'll get progressively bad as you go along the season

He's backing up Locker, who was knocked out of the game. Fortunately, Locker doesn't seem to be out long as this season he seems to be getting into the swing of things.

Bit of a disgrace the Texans fans cheering when Schaub got injured . I know the home town boy is the popular choice but still, its not on. Its the type of thing you'd expect in Phili !!

Houston fans (like many others) have such short memories.

Going to Arrowhead isn't going to be much fun for his first start.

  27. luke_golden

Yeah, it was a silly thing to do. The worst thing about it is that all of the talk post-game was about cheering the injury, rather than the absolute disaster of a performance that the team had put in. Showed a definite lack of class on the fans behalf though.

The wheels have really come off this season and will likely bring a change in management. Don't be shocked to see Kevin Sumlin end up in Houston again, bringing Johnny Football from ATM with him.

Case is being thrown in at the deep end, but the guy is a winner and has been given some pretty glowing references from the likes of Andre Johnson. If he wants to play with the big boys, he's going to have to face tough crowds and strong defenses at some point, might as well get started against the best. Like I said, he's a winner, has decent mobility and is super confident in his ability - along with being an absolute gentleman.

There's a real buzz around the city for Sunday now, nothing beats a hometown kid getting a shot on the big stage and hopefully showing he belongs.

The Texans are going to have to lose a lot more games (and the Jags win some) to get anywhere near Manziel regardless of who the coach is. By the end of the year Johnny Football may well be a two time winner of the Heisman and players like that (especially QBs) do not go very far in the first round. He's a redshirt isn't he so he could declare for the draft this year ? Think of all the teams looking for a franchise QB that are worse then the Texans.

Personally I think McNair will stick with Kubiak regardless of what happens the rest of the season - he did after all get the team to the 2nd round of the playoffs the last two seasons and he is an owner that sticks with his man. However I think the front office should probably be redoing their CV's.

As for Keenum I'm sure there's a reason why he was passed over by 32 teams 7 times despite all the college records he set. The speed and size of NFL defences are the biggest difference between the pro and college games and I think he's got his work cut out. But like you say if you can do it in 2013 KC then you've got a chance to be successful. Lets face it the biggest concern coming out of college was his size and plenty of short arses have done a job before in the NFL.

I don't think it's a given that Johnny goes THAT high in the draft. People are super high on Bridgewater and Boyd right now - plus Manziel has had some off-field issues that are going to make teams question his character. There's also going to be questions regarding his size and durability - though he's managed to bounce up from some pretty big knocks thus far.

You're right, he was a redshirt and I'd expect him to declare this year. By all accounts, he's not had a great time in College Station besides the football side of things. He doesn't even take any classes on campus because of the hassle it became for him to get around. Funnily enough, I was at the scrimmage where he won the starting job from Showers at the beginning of last year and you could see then that the kid just had something special - but it was hard to imagine he'd end up where he is now! He was so quick and smooth though, like I said, you could see that he was a class act.

I'm not sure how it's going to go down on Sunday with regards to Keenum. I'm willing him to do well for obvious reasons. He's made a habit of beating the odds, from barely being recruited out of high school, to setting all manner of records. We'll have to wait and see!

Denver visit Indianapolis for Sunday Night Football. It should be a decent game, made interesting by the return of Peyton Manning to Indianapolis for the first time. Stateside again?

Terrible day sporting wise for me, Watford lose late, Aggies lose late, University of Houston lose late. Nightmare.

Finally we have a division win! With Manuel out for 4-6 weeks this is definitely a good, morale-boosting win. Let's go Buffalo!

No wins for Keenum, but he's made Texans football fun again - definitely played his way into contention to keep the starting job for a while longer thus far. Crazy scenes with Kubiak collapsing at HT on Sunday night, can't help but think it was partly to blame for the second-half performance.
