Acuna is a simple striker that will be excellent for us. Plays the way he faces and isn't as selfish as Fabbrini or Forestieri. Always looked for a knock down to then move into a better position. He is playing the 2nd striker role better than our actual 2nd strikers.

 

Can't have a go at any of our strikers when the service they are currently getting is awful.

The guy has played for Real Madrid B and scored 21 goals in 56 appearances for Girona who play in Liga Adelante, which is Spain's Championship. He's an excellent player but has not yet looked comfortable in the Championship.

I firmly believe quality players will shine given time to adapt. We are not a big side that can afford top players, especially strikers. We have to take what we can and work with them to make them better players. Look at Deeney (excluding his recent dip) and Anya. Two players written off by many, but now are valuable assets.

Working under Zola is the best place for him, as he has a track record of improving players. He may not make an impact, I do not disagree with that, but to write someone off after a couple of games is just crazy. You have to give him time and see how he progresses.

 

Whereas you on the other hand are totally clued up.

 

I suggest that you contact Zola to give him the benefit of your wisdom!

Was going to write a response to this about how good Acuna actually can/will be but not worth the time or effort for such idiotic comments.

His had one really good season where he scored 17 and apart from that he has scored about 12 in 6 seasons, very much similar record to Geijo

Yes. In a 3-4-1-2, Acuna wouldn't drop as deep as Fabbrini would. Best option if we want to play with 3 up top.

 

Those statistics do not show him to be an excellent player, it shows him to be a good goalscorer in a division similar to our league 1. This is a step up in standard for him, plenty of Championship players are Internationals and of high quality like Ince and Rhodes. Like Geijo, he will take time to settle and I believe he is a good player but I would say he would be the back-up/alternative for Deeney, like Geijo was. He likes to drop deep and get the ball with his back to goal from what I have seen and at times last night, him and Deeny got in each others way, as you would expect in a new partnership.

By all means, he should not be written off as you have said, he is a good addition to the squad and I am sure will have a role to play like Geijo did last season. Good back up player.

 

So by using that logic we shouldnt be playing Fessi or Fabrinni either?
