Stoke are not that great at judging the talent of a player. They let Bachmann go as well a few years back. Hopefully he will prove to be equally useful to us.
A second clean sheet for Adam Parkes on loan to struggling Barnet, won 2-0 against Maidenhead in front of their home fans yesterday, seems like they rate him highly. Good to see, surely he'll get a League 1 or League 2 loan next season, and who knows, maybe he can challenge for the #1 jersey at some point
Good to hear. But agreed hopefully gets a chance on loan somewhere, those performances will no doubt aid in this.
Final day of the National League season, a goal for Sonny-Blu Lo-Everton in a 4-2 win for Wealdstone against Woking, and a clean sheet for Adam Parkes for Barnet against Football League-bound Sutton United. Barnet still finish bottom of all the teams who completed the season, though only on goal difference, they've finished the season well, I'd like to think it was all on Parkes but they've probably made a few other smart moves late in the season!
Got an assist as well, I follow Wealdstone on Twitter and every match-day his name springs up a LOT in the updates, sounds like he's had a very good loan spell.
Paul Fairclough taking over probably gave them a bit of a kick up the hive! They'd be smart to keep him but he's 70 plus now.
I know it is hard to judge U23 players at times, but every time I have seen them he really does look a cut above.
Parkes is of course keeping a guy called Scott Loach out of the Barnet side. Name rings a bell. I gather he was called up to the England squad once.
We lent Barnet his dad (Adam) once, playing for Hemel I believe! Barnet another ex F.L. Club to be relegated from the National/Conference/Whatever they want to call it league!
Ah, didn’t know Adam was his father ! Don’t think there’s any relegation from the National League this season due to the leagues below being suspended ? Not sure what they will do with Dover (who refused to play any of their games) though?
I also didn’t know Adam was his father!!! I didn’t know there was no relegation, but understandable, good for Barnet as they are a “ big “ club in that league!
Tomas Galvez is supposedly being looked at by a number of clubs. Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal & Villa are those mentioned. https://www.instagram.com/p/CPvioD1NYSX/
So annoying. I really do wish the rule would change. Makes it so pointless having an academy, when the top clubs can just cherry pick your players. Should be a rule that you can’t sign academy players between 16-18 yrs old. Or a rule that includes a 50% sell on clause for the first transfer, a 40% sell on clause for the second transfer, and a 30% sell on clause for the third transfer. Selling clubs can not insert a sell on clause until after three transfers are completed. I’m sure there are much better ideas than this, but this is the best I have at 7:15am.
Yep, I have absolutely no problem with the likes of Sancho wanting to leave us for bigger clubs with better facilities, I don't believe clubs should hold literal kids to ransom, but if it does happen, clubs like us should benefit from a big sell-on clause. I don't know if we have a sell-on clause if Sancho goes to United (I imagine not since we're two clubs back), if not I think we only get a 1/2% solidarity fee which would probably be about £2m tops
That’s the boy that scored that wonder goal in the English school’s final 18 months ago. https://mobile.twitter.com/schoolsfootball/status/1131535053023076353?lang=bg He’s been playing up with our u18’s most of last season. Must be a good prospect, hope it’s just a rumour.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/57434001 Saw this on the BBC this morning, I don’t usually watch this kind of stuff but blimey he has some phenomenal technique. He absolutely smashed it and went top of the scoreboard with his run.
Does anyone know what has happened to The Recluse? He used to post regularly (especially on the Academy And Under-23s thread), but he has not posted anything since 2nd February 2021. I hope that he is okay.
Although some young lads at his age can look flashy in training exercises, Tomas Galvez really seems to have something special about him already. You can't really hide him away from the prying eyes of the big clubs anymore, sadly. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/57434001 He can certainly finish/Finnish!
Well he looks ridiculously talented. Give him a go! Look at Chilwell and Thomas at Leicester, age is just a number.
He was one of the four players who impressed me most in our FA Youth Cup game vs Newcastle a couple of months ago, along with Lo-Everton, Lawal and Cukur. At the time I posted: "The LB Tomas Galvez seemed promising, especially given he was our youngest player. Had a touch of Kiko about him, being very energetic going forwards with good technical ability, though a bit lax defensively at times." http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/academy-and-under-23s.43030/page-71#post-2989319 Though right at the start of the video he says "I'm 16".
There is <5% chance he will stay with us. Bigger prem clubs would have to blind or stupid not to take such a potential star for peanuts. I would imagine the top 4 will fight it out to see who gets him.
And who'd blame him for going? Stay at a club who haven't brought through a youth player in 10 years or move to the big boys, either becoming a star or getting a move to a big German team and play first team football by the time he's 18. Tough call.
Funnily enough, the kid who scored the winner in that game, Ethan McLeod, is in the Wolves academy and also took part in the MOTDx Wonderkids challenge this year. Didn't get as many points as Galvez though.
