The team always looked better with Doucoure in the side mainly because he had an incredible energy and fitness but his passing left a bit to be desired, how much that due to lack of confidence remains to be seen.

We have only had him for three years, so five years ago pulling someone’s trousers down would have got you into a lot of trouble!

Doucs can go, hes been decent for us but not decent enough to get PSG or Milan or Juve sniffing IMO. Everton "agreeing" terms just means we can haggle over the price knowing full well he wants to go - and they are very keen to have him. Seems to work for us more than them. Especially if someone like Arsenal or Wolves makes an enquiry.

"I really like that doggy in the window, I must have it"

    "50k please"

And the "fans dont get the money, why do you want to sell our best players" quote has arisen multiple times already. Doucs can go because 1. he deserves a chance at a higher level. I still see players as human rather than assets. 2. We dont have the same income we need to pay everyones wages and cover costs, his wages saved and transfer fee help make us a sustainable well run club and may mean we can keep someone like Sarr or buy some young talent that will match or surpass Doucoures ability.

I stand by what I said, he wanted to move to Everton last season. His mind was gone and he wasn't committed to the cause. His performances this season reflected that. As a small club we rely on our best players to keep us up. He threw it back in our face. His own goal against Brighton was a joke and changed the game. Hopefully not deliberate but might as well have been.

Real shame but I think 25m for us is a great deal.
He's what 27? So should be peaking around now for the next 1-2 years. His type of player can't be box to box for too long so to have longevity at the top top level (CL clubs) he has to change/adapt his game and rely more on play making/passing range and I just don't think he has enough of that to fall back on when his athleticism declines for a big club now.

Whether the blame is ours or his or no one's I think he's gone significantly backwards. I do hope he makes a go of it he's been a good servant and played a big part for us in the PL

    I wish him well

Certainly won't miss watching his constant attempts to prove his worth to any watching NFL scouts as a kicker - just wish he would save his try outs for any time other than exclusively when he was being gifted one of our rare and precious shots on goal from within the opposition penalty box.

After a nonexistent start when he was minutes away from popping on a plane at L**on airport and signing for a French club he has been one of our best players in the P.L. and has had fans singing his name from the stands!, with his performances other clubs were looking and unfortunately we all know that heads are quickly turned in this day and age and he wanted to play for a " bigger " club!

There will be more players of his ilk signed by the Pozzo's who come from nowhere and go onto better things, like Ighalo, Richarlison and himself! one day Sarr and Deulofeu will leave us. being brought up on Walker, Williams and Welbourne I'm happy to settle for the current situation!.

Personally I don't think £25m is a good deal at all. Look at his stats. He's up there with the best of them in many areas. Interceptions, distance run etc. Even though he was poor last season, he's still a very good player. Look at what other players are going for; Ake £41m, Norwich want £30m for Aarons, Bournemouth's Brooks being lined up for a £40m move to United and list goes on.

£30m plus add-ons is what I would consider a fair deal. Anything under that would be bad business IMO.

He won’t be a miss at all. On his day (basically when he played under Slither) he is top class, but he hasn’t reached the same heights since. He was absolutely woeful last season!

£25m is a FAIR price for him.

The song should’ve been adapted to ‘he always gives the ball away’. His pass completion last season must’ve been wa*k. Barely saw him complete a pass.

Capoue is the one who kept our midfield going under Javi and the start of this season. Hughes was the one who carried it under Pearson!

Hughes, Dele-Bashiru & Quina are the future (hopefully Chalobah as well) and if Capoue does stay that’s a real plus as well!

Doucoure’s departure gives Quina a chance which is what he should’ve had last season! Still baffles me to this day how he didn’t play a bigger part!

On Quina, I presume his attitude stinks. Hopefully our Serbian cyborg can sort him out.

Chalobah on the overhand is absolutely finito.

Sorry, your argument loses all credibility for even thinking he would score a deliberate own goal. The rest of it is pure conjecture to justify your irrational hatred of him. If the rest of the squad played well & he didn't, you might have a point, but they didn't. Apart from a few matches we were poor all season, not just him.

Can't believe all this 'he's crap glad to see the back of him' nonsense. Doucoure is a fantastic player and will be a big miss if he goes, very rarely not available and when he is we look a much worse team. His energy and drive is so often the reason we get higher up the pitch and he breaks up the opposition play brilliantly. Agreed he doesn't possess the silky skills but that's not his job in the team, he does his job very well.

If he goes, and I think he will, he will be missed but he should be playing in a higher division than we will be playing in and I will wish him well, fresh start will probably do him some good also.

Personally I think he is a £30 - 40m player but whether we get that in the current environment I'm not sure, either way he has put in a good shift for us and will return a very healthy profit upon sale. I really don't see what there is to complain about or why people feel the need to slag him off.

I think Doucoure is an example of a player we should have sold before.

With Sarr there seems to be a lot of people saying "he hasn't reached his peak value" but the reality is no one knows this. If it was certain a player is going to increase in value they would already be that value.

When Q and D-B were given a chance in the cup they were awful. Dreadful. Very concerned if we are going to rely too heavily on them coming good next season.

100% will the energy be missing but that can be replaced. We saw a downward turn on performances from Doucs and it's best for all parties that he's moved on. I will wish him well and always welcome him back. On his day he looked a top 6 side player on his worse a wasted talent. Thanks Doucs.

The age of all those players you list are younger and home grown, taking that into consideration £25 + add ons would be decent business, and hopefully balance the books so we keep the other better players

We were 3-0 up and cruising at half time. Admittedly we collapsed 2nd half but you can’t blame Quina and DB solely for that.

Pearson seemed almost pleased the youngsters had failed so he could be proved right; went on about everyone not being fit enough... well hello isn’t that responsibility of the coaching staff?

I don't blame them but across both games I though Quina lost the ball too many times and D-B was invisible.

£25M is okay in the current environment. The team will evolve without him, yes we lose his energy but Suarez replaces it with... bags of energy. I’m really hoping we see a front 3 of Suarez Sarr and Pedro, and with the energy and movement they bring they need midfielders able to see and thread a pass. Arguably Quina will fit that role better (as would others) Doucs passing wasn’t the best this last year.

Good luck to him hope he does well for Everton, although not too well.

On paper that front three must excite any Watford fan. Pace, movement and hopefully plenty of goals. But if that is the starting thres we need to build around those players. Bringing in another player say of Doucs energy is a must imo. If we lose Capoue too then we look very lightweight in midfield.

Hmm. He's a fantastic player and there are elements of his game which work very well for the team when moving up the pitch, but the fact is that his form has been on the decline for us for 18 months now. There's no point keep a player here who doesn't want to be here. If we can negotiate the right fee, I'm happy to see him go.

I think we will miss him but if he wants to go we should let him which I'm we will do for the right price. We can't hold on to players like that when they are at their prime age for a footballer. He wasn't great last season but who was in all honesty. I don't think he gave up, I just think that like many others he lost confidence in himself and the team.
    Good luck to him

Don't we also need to cash in on our players? As excited as I am to hear of the possibility that Estupinan, Sarr, Suarez et al stay, it does make me nervous that we're not gonna make enough to cover us financially! Oh well, I guess we'll just make Udinese write monstrous figures for Pereyra and Pussetto! :D

My favourite thing about Doucoure is that he was always the first person to celebrate a goal. Watch any highlights back with him playing and somehow he's always the first player to celebrate with the scorer.

If he was as good as some people think he is, we wouldn't have been relegated. He wasn't even the 3rd or 4th best player in our terrible relegation season. How can people think he's worth 40m when overshadowed by other mediocre crap in a terrible side?

Quina had a great season under Javi and picked up some niggly injuries at key times last season. On the whole he's been excellent when he's played.

Harsh on D-B, he played very well in the first half against Tranmere and as soon as Chloabah went off he struggled alongside Whelan (he was having to do his and Whelan's job as Whelan was so far out of his depth it was painful to watch).

I'm not worried with a midfield of Hughes, Capoue, Chlaobah, Quina & D-B. That pi$$es over ALL midfields in the Championship as well as half of the Premier League!
