I'd do it, anything to get an edge, professional sport, psychology, Ferguson was the best at it. I probably wouldn't put in a ludicrous low bid like they did but I might leak it out to the media.
everything fair in love and war as they say.

Can’t Kabasele play in midfield or maybe the forgotten man - Prodl?

Just accept £45m and go and get Kevin Drinkwater for £15m and be done with it.

Doucoure has really ticked off the Everton fanbase. Love to see it.

Tbf, there's no way at all that we would have made an approach without being assured that Doucoure would be willing to come here.

It's not that element which concerns me. It's the price Watford would inevitably want. No way it would end up much short of £50m

What concerns me is that Everton are playing tasteless, underhand transfer tactics again. Bid for Zaha and Doucoure and then walk away? They'll be back on transfer deadline day when the requests to leave come in.

You would because Silva’s a massive bell. Not you personally but your twitter fanbase has taken great exception to the rejection. After giving it the large one that you take who you want etc, it’s with great pleasure that a tinpot small club like watford has caused such a stir and brought some realization that you’re not that big of a club anymore. That you are in the pool with the rest of us.

I use to have nothing against Everton until I realized how deluded, pathetic, entitled and outright incapable of having a civil conversation they are. Not you personally, I actually don’t mind your posts on here. However the rest of your fanbase are about as tolerable as the scum.

There will be another bid before the deadline, probably to tempt the player and rile the club/supporters in equal measure.

The Pozzo’s have to stand their ground now. They’ll lose a hell of a lot of goodwill if we sell Doucoure this close to the deadline without a replacement.

Silva has about as much to do with transfer negotiations here as he did at Watford.

I get that the Everton wounds aren't going to heal anytime soon. I felt like that about Man City 10 years ago. Took until Pellegrini came in before I stopped hating them

Nope. But when you’ve already secured a number of targets, you can sling in a few low ball offers. Gino can’t use that excuse.

Much short? When Bournemouth want £75m+ for Ake, we should be asking £60m+ for Doucoure.

Worth that? No chance. But the market dictates.

    a19tgg First Team

Timing is key here though isn’t it. I don’t for one minute blame Muff for asking £75m for Ake. It’s so late in the window that they can’t get a replacement so may as well ask for a figure that makes it worth their while, however absurd. That’s why at this stage Doucoure won’t be going anywhere for south of £50m, regardless of his actual value.

Not wounds, just your fanbase is a bunch of narcissistic knobs, who deserve every disappointment. So hopefully the truth will set in one day that your completely living in the history of a club that hasn’t done anything of note since the mid 80’s, 30+ years ago. One FA Cup trophy since then, in the mid 90’s. For a fanbase that talks like they are in the same breath as the top 6 is a joke. Yet your fans bang on about how small every other club is outside them and the top 6. If Everton fans actually showed some humility, then people wouldn’t hate them. Unfortunately nothing but arrogance is displayed from your fanbase. Maybe it’s always been like that and I didn’t see it, but ever since the Silva debacle, your fanbase has decided to stoke up a rivalry with us and then go on about how we are trying to start a rivalry with you. Then make the claims that it’s us being desperate. We know what we are, a small family club punching well above it’s weight, that one day will be relegated back to the championship. So we’re going to live in the moment and love every second of it, even with our tight fisted owners who frustrate us endlessly. That’s who we are. A club that has been around since 1881, won nothing but captured the hearts a relatively small fanbase who follow them no matter how bad it gets.

Everton fans need a realisation that they are club living in the past, on past glories, that will soon be forgotten if they don’t do anything soon and that they are no longer as big as they think they are. That’s what your club is.

You’re in with the rest of us. The top 6 and then you’re part of the other 14 that are fighting to stay in the league and fight for Europe.

Another thing to consider is spending money on better players encourages other players to stay and that being at the club is worthwhile and part of a project etc.

It’s great if we hang on to Deulofeu, Pereyra and Doucoure. But these are players with ambitions I’m sure - a whole pre-season with little action other than Craig Dawson? You could hardly blame them for looking elsewhere. And the danger is that if we allow one of them to leave so late in the window, the others will rightly ask where the ambition is? What’s encouraging them to stay?

Selling any key player at this point can only happen if the money is reinvested. I’d be very concerned about the effects if one was sold just for monetary gain.

I used to hate the arrogant Everton fans piping up online as much as anyone, but having recently had the misfortune to have to spend a weekend in Liverpool and meet some of them in person, it became obvious it really isn’t worth giving it any thought. They have an empty, miserable existence up there.

    They'll also get relegated.

Doucoure, Capoue and Deolefeou are all that stands between us and being championship play off standard.

Without all the baggage if you look at this dispassionately - is Doucoure at this point of the window worth more to Watford than £30 million. I would think so especially as the money won't come in one big chunk. I genuinely think he is regarded as our best player, and the most important player to anchor the team to where the owners want the club to be at the end of the season (top 10). With the rumours about Chalobah also suggesting their are no plans to be tempted by a speculative bid for Doucore. A bid above £45 million and that judgement may change.

For the player if he is happy at Watford the club and living in London (which I think you can say he is under Gracia's leadership), the next move will define his career. He thinks he can play at a top club, and are Everton likely to come into that bracket. Bigger and better than Watford, but better than Leicester, or a growing Wolves? Even the money increase may not satisfy the desire to better himself. After all if Silva really thought he was the man to push his team to the next level, wouldn't he have pushed Everton to make an offer earlier in the Summer?

I think if Arsenal put in a £30 million bid over the weekend, the boy would probably say he wants to go - but a teamwho hope to finish in the top 8 rather than guaranteed to finish in the top six I am not sure he would go. I am not sure the pull is enough without Gino saying he is happy to agree to the sale.

It's simple for me, unless Everton stump up a MINIMUM of £60m he ain't going nowhere!

Far too important to us to be selling for relative peanuts, especially so late in the window.

I think next summer he'll be gone (but i've been saying that for the last 3 windows now), and he'll have earned his move away to wherever he wants to go!

    Sarr and another defender .

We ve got all these young talented CMs, they re not going to get good without game time .

Doucoure is great but was a bit average last season and does give the ball away too much for my liking.

Could put Prodl in midfield with Kabasele which will free up Capoue to play alongside Chalobah in defence .

I’m thinking Bachman could do a job up front . Being a keeper he knows a lot about stopping shots, knowledge which he could use to fool opposition goalkeepers , having been in their shoes so to speak .
