A shadow of the side we were under Sannino

The only positive I can muster from the last three games is that hopefully, things can only change for the better when the current management get to know the players they have at their disposal a bit better.

I haven't recognised Abdi in the last three games, to name just one, and as a team we've looked half-arsed, disorganised, and disaffected.

Vydra has worked his socks off, but the ball only comes to him when he's tracking back and finding himself in a dead end.

Graham Taylor used to say that players win games, not formations, but tactics count for an awful lot. Under Sannino I saw an effective bunch of players that didn't look like they'd drop a lot of points this season. The last three games, I've seen a bunch of players who, quite frankly, look like they might just about manage to scrape some points here and there, and have been bloody lucky to get what they've got so far. They certainly don't look like they've got many goals in them.

We had a lot of possession against Charlton. So what? We're nowhere near what we were at the start of this season, and I hope the anti-Sannino mob are happy with themselves.

We've gone from being a good effective side, who looked ready challenge at the top of this division, back to being a raw work in early progress.

I'm off to the kebab shop. Please feel free to flame me. I'd particularly like to hear from positive people who can tell me how Garcia's playing philosophy is going to 'click' in due course, because I'm missing the 'how' bit at the moment.

I didn't see Garcia's face on that team today.

We should never have sacked Sannino.

  4. We look like the side Zola first started with 2 years ago, we've gone right back to square one.

Enjoy the kebab, so do you think this is a reflection of Garcia's philosophy?

It may take around 5-6 weeks for it to take hold...considering the lack of time he's had with the 1st team squad since he took over, it's a little harsh to judge him yet.

Yeah that side capitulated against Huddersfield under Beppe was so much better.

I think Gino and Beppe himself should have worked a bit harder to find a compromise in regards to coaching style and the content of training.

Since Beppe has left we have been getting little silly injuries left right and center, we look devoid of any game plan, players haven't got a clue what their job is and we aren't winning games we should.

I don't think it's quite fair to blame OG yet because he hasn't really been around to put his stamp on the team but it's not like since Beps has left the players seem happier and are playing with any more fluidity. Dyer still is a stroppy *****, McGugan is still not getting picked, the players are still arguing with each other.

Maybe this runs deeper than Beppe and he was actually the glue keeping it all together? Who Knows. I loved his old school methods personally, it's the way I was brought up, hard work = success, no matter how talented you are.

I said all along sacking Sannino would be a huge mistake and I will stand by that now. Why fix something that's not broken just cause a few players want to act like babies. In his last game in charge we won 4-2 with 10 men and the players seemed fired up! Now with 11 we barely can string 2 passes together, nobody apart from the odd 1 or 2 seem at all Interested, we lost to Charlton albeit we shouldn't have, we somehow beat Blackpool which was madness & today complete daylight robbery taking a point from that game.

I'm not on the ''Garcia out'' train but things don't look right. Even when Beppe made odd choices in selection he was pretty well justified with the results, now we are playing stupid formations with the wrong players.

Be careful what you wish for and don't fix something that's not broken, those are my feelings on things.

Hoping Garcia comes in and gets some shape and a game plan cause we have the players.

We'll never know how we would have fared had Sannino stayed.

None of us know yet how we will fare under Garcia.

We had good days and bad days under Sannino..when we write his WFC epitaphs, let's try and stay balanced. If Beppe had left in the summer after 4 defeats in a row, or this season after Norwich, would we have felt differently? As it is, the game that will stay in the memory will be his last one, a victory, as that's the most recent. The same as there's some anti Garcia feeling tonight because his most recent game was today's.

No coach can be judged on just 3 games, especially when he has been in hospital for 2 of them. And had injuries to Deeney, Forestieri, Munari, Angella, Andrews etc. That group includes our 2 top scorers this season, arguably our best midfielder and our most reliable defender. None have been available for all 3 of Garcia's games, only the first one of which we lost, incidently.

No season can be judged on just 8 games. This time last year we had 19 points and seemed unstoppable.

The so called 'anti Beppe mob' had no say or influence on his departure. We didn't stay away from games or boo him or the team, or influence the Pozzos at all. Stuff obviously went on behind the scenes that we don't totally know about. Big decisions were made by the people that staked a fortune in our club. I agree it was a shame that just as we seemed to be enjoying some success in the league, stuff happened off-field that we can't control to spoil it, but it did and we need to move on.

If the rest of the season becomes a Beppe v Garcia debate, it'll be a pity in my opinion.

Forget not this seasons wins under Sannino were against poor opposition and Bournemouth are anything but.
What struck me most today is how easily Vydra was finding space so I'm confident getting service to him is going to be number one on the list, after that we should improve drastically. I also like how we conserved energy until the last twenty minutes, five more and we'd have cracked it IMO.
The bad mostly came from losing our shape but I'm sure that will improve.

Give over, that Bournemouth side are very average and didnt play any better than Leeds. We made them look better than they where.

If I was Vydra, I'd be asking why the midfield pass to his ****ing neck and not to his ****ing feet?
What has happened to Tozser and Abdi? Why do they insist in playing them pointless floaty 40 yard passes that don't come off? I didn't see one threaded pass on the deck today.

Because there was very little movement in front of them, a number of times in the second half Toszer was advancing with the ball and gesticulating at people trying to get them to do something other than just stand there. Vydra was got into some good positions but he was often hugely isolated at times and it's not easy to thread the ball through a load of white shirts

To me it over the last 3 games it has looked like we're always a man short in the middle. The opposition are flooding the place and that's leading to rushed passes. What's really doing us in is that no one in the team is looking to stretch things. We seem quite content to be bogged down in midfield and keep banging our heads against a wall until we bleed.

Their defence played far better than Leeds' did but admittedly we struggled to play Vydra in mainly because B'mth swamped the midfield. I'll always be the first to argue the 3-5-2 for the players we have but there's plenty of time for Oscar to decide for himself and having a decent plan B will always be an asset.
Dyer's a mistake buy IMO, yes he's a better winger than Anya but really that's not saying a great deal, at least Ikechi can defend. Until we sign better wide men then 3-5-2 should be our mainstay but we still have to keep plugging away with other formations when it suits.

I liked Beppe, I didn't want him to go, but I really don't get why people are so opposed to Garcia when he's had about 3 days in charge.

I'm all for a plan b, twas something we lacked badly under Zola. But if we are going to make whole sail changes to the formation/system why dont we wait until the manager is back and can actually work with the team. In the mean time stick to what works.

I agree to an extent about Dyer. He's a good player but limited to what role he can play and i'm not sure he was someone we needed particualry

Certainly yesterday wasn't helped by not having our best defender and forward playing.

Abdi said before he wasn't 100% and been taken off twice in the past week so that could be an issue as well.

Under Sannino we weren't playing great. Poor first half v Rotherham, average v Leeds up until the red & penalty, very average v Huddersfield where they were playing the better football, awful v Doncaster. Hilarious how people are pretending this is a new thing.

  33. Yes you're right. And we're now even worse.

So better the devil you know huh...even if you don't know what the current devil can do?

Before you post again, think for a second...how long has Garcia had with the 1st team squad...all of them?

  35. So the fact he hasn't had time with the team justifies experimenting with formations we've never played with and experimenting with players out of position, all done remotely from a hospital bed, and in live league games rather than on the training ground and behind doors friendlies when he is back on his feet?

If your answer is yes, he is free to experiment until he finds something that works and bugger the results... then we will have to agree to disagree.
