I never looked around, never second-guessed
Then I read some Howard Zinn now I'm always depressed
And now I can't sleep from years of apathy
All because I read a little Noam Chomsky

I study politics and when you learn the raw facts the U.S government has done some incredibly evil acts in my opinion over the years.

As have most world superpowers in their time. The British Empire was hardly all sunshine, lolly pops and rainbows either. As for whether there was a conspiracy or not I guess it depends to what extent you mean.

Do I think the US fabricated the whole thing? No.
Do I think the US aided terrorist groups to carry it out? No.
Do I believe they turned a blind eye? No.
Do I believe that the left arm doesn't know what the right arm's doing in such a big country and therefore any evidence they did have was never sufficiently analysed? Yes!

I honestly don't believe the US government would wilfully murder 3000 people to serve their own ends. The US is big enough, rich enough and currently right-wing enough to be more than capable of attacked who it wants, when it wants. Whoever mentioned China above is spot on though - they'll be the world superpower in 50yrs time.

if all else remains, the same. which is wont. These predictions of china, in my esteemed opinion are essentially inaccurate. people said the same thing about russia, india and a unified europe, but things dont happen like that.

Russia was never going to be able to mobilise it's population and too much of India is divided down social and religious lines to ever make it any more than an economic threat. China, however, in my opinion do have the same problems of these two other big countries and although their influence is only economic now it will soon start to grow. Just wait til the oil runs out...

china has massive social cleavages. theres massove regional inequality, loads of ethnic groups pushing for representation and a massively oppressed religious population. Given the nature of its poitical system, as soon as it starts getting economically stronger, it'll do what russia did in the early 20th century and have some sort of revoltution. Whether that revolution will put it two steps back or will have no effect is yet to be seen, because as i say, i dont think you can predict more that 5 years into the future.
