Just can't see how we are going to win games when there is no creativity in the side. Today was a perfect example of why we should have 1 of the youngsters at least on the bench. When marvin went off there was no pace and no threat. Can't see the point in Beattie he offered very little. It is going to be a long season and I think we witnessed 2 of the bottom 3 today.
Hogg was suspended today and McGinn will be available in the New Year. If we can get ourselves to 30 points by 2 Jan (when we will lose Kightly and Nosworthy) we should be OK.
I think Hogg is a good player but I don't think he creates much an McGinn will have been out for 18 months so will probably take until the end of the season to get fit. Maybe it was just the dullness of today's game but that is now 9 games we have not scored in and today after a couple of chances in the first half we really did not create anything. It is time to try something different.
Actually, his injury only occurred on 26 Feb this year (at the Keepmoat), but I agree it seems much longer ago.
Tbf when Garner and Deeney have played for us this season they have atleast looked like they could score, put themselves about abit and tried to make a nuisance of themselves. Big Chris by contrast never looks like any sort of attacking threat. I dont mean to sound harsh on him but you can quite literally count the number of shots he's had this season on one hand. If we start with Beattie and Chris upfront I cant see us scoring in a month of sundays
I fancy giving a Deeney / Garner combination a shot, at least there would be move movement with those two!!!
Possibly one of the worse games I've attended. Both sides lacked any skill with Donny in particular looking terrible. Chumpionship football at it's best....
I can't tell people how poor that game was. No passion from fans or players alike. Just how big Chris manages to get into the team every week amazes me. I don't like to pick out one player as all were pretty poor other than our defence who never looked like letting a goal in, but he was so poor and lazy. I hate the fact he always runs away from where he thinks the ball is going to be and never shows for it. Can't header, has no pace, can't shoot and has no passion. I cheered when he left the field. I wouldn't boo him because that is very different. I don't see why garner has been completely dropped. He looked like he just needed to settle in the side and get his match fitness up.
There is a slight overreaction from the fans I feel. We went up against a team where planning for it is futile. They had 3 players in the squad he only went their 24 hours before kickoff!! It was always going to be two teams, cautiously trying to find a breakthrough. Big Chris had been excellent recently. Move on to Brizzle on Tues. Could do well against them. They will come to the Vic to win, so provided we defend well again, we could catch them on the break
Anther way of looking at it was we were playing a team bottom of the table with no confidence and the players do not know each other. We created nothing against the team who have conceded the most amount of goals in the division..
Garner needs to be back in the fold, he's actually a very good player - seems a massive overreaction to withdraw him to this extent simply for falling asleep on the bench. Beattie and Chris up front, and Tuesday night will be just horrible.
If we do go down, it'll be lack of goals that does us. Although I'm very much enjoying Hogg and Nosworthy in the team, Eustace and Taylor were always more likely to nick a goal or two. If our strikers aren't scoring, which apart from MS they're not, we need as many other players as possible to get on the scoresheet. For all their inconsistencies (and sometimes poor performances), Yeates and Forsyth at least have 5 between them..some consolation
Although I'm usually one for positive posts on here, I really struggle to see how this team could catch anyone on the break at the moment. On the plus side we are looking solid defensively, but going forward we are an incredibly slow, boring, immobile attacking unit. (based on every game i've been to this season, but then in the 6 games I've been to I'm yet to see us score).
When Iwelumo is good he is great, brings others into the game, holds up the ball and is invaluable for us. However, when he doesn't play so well or the game doesn't suit him he is pretty ineffectual and is bound to attract the brunt of the abuse from the high percentage of ***** who make up our fanbase. Yesterday he clearly struggled without his natural type of strike partner in Marv and instead had to play up top with Beattie who seems like he would be quite incompatible with a similar player like Iwelumo.
Not gonna shout abuse at him obviously as he does try his best. Him and Sordell together though just don't work it's pretty tragic, not convinced in the slightest about that partnership. Mainly due to Iwelumo being an utter donkey, I feel sorry for Henderson that I used to call him that.
How deluded are you? You honestly think you have seen Iwelumo put in a "great" performance? It's a sad state of affairs when someone puts in a very average performance and it gets called great because they are usually so sh!t. The guy is useless and slow. However i'm sure you'll just keep on dribbling and clapping in stands like a good little fan because your a better supporter.
