The best thing about that system in Division 2 (now league 1 of course) was watching Jason Lee up front. What a journeyman.
His goal at Fulham will live long in the memory. Another highlight from that season was the Rocket Man's wonder goal v Blackpool.
Maybe it didn't need two very's, but I think it does matter. It made me think and then remember lots more. Nothing wrong with getting facts right at all, so long ad you're not righteous about it.
That was good - thanks. I agree that it would have been good to see a couple of our youngsters at least on the bench and getting a bit of the game. Just concerned that Dyche doesn't seem to be giving the support to our academy players that other managers have done.
I meant he was just in the right place at the right for the first goal and yes the second finish was brilliant, but all the headlines pinning the success on Forsyth is mis-leading.
oh and Sordell & Deeney's partnership is flourishing, seems to be a growth in understanding, and friendship and seen in the first goal celebration!
Mooney was signed as a striker, and mostly used as a striker. For a short period he was used as a defender as we were a bit thin on the ground at the back & his goals had (temp) dried up. They soon returned though when he was returned to his regular CF position. I don't remember his defensive role lasting all that long.
I didn't go to the game but on seeing the goals on tv sordell did very well with his goal and in setting up deeneys and a good cross for forsyths first! His all round play sometimes seems lazy but I feel he's certainly improving almost with every game!
IRB mentioned Forsyth maybe better in a forward position, and I agreed with an example of Mooney being converted from a defender to forward. Maybe I should have said Wilf Rostron. But of course there is always a pedantic person lurking to pick a statement to pieces, if there is a spelling mistake or a slight error, to make himself feel good I suppose. I get a comment like "you have a very, very ropey memory". It wasn't important as it wasn't the main focus of the point I was making, just an incidental......All it does is move away completely off the topic that's being talked about. It makes me dispair sometimes at how small minded some people are.
Re the Mooney debate, are you confusing him with Marcus Gayle who was definitely signed as a striker and converted to a centre back?
Just a quick reminder of Admin's post(s) guys. As much as I love some of the random tangents that we see here, there's a time and place, and that place for now is the lounge. Cheers. :drinking:
Yes, posts can be ****ing stupid or ****ing nasty but they can't be funny. I wasn't aware moog invented puns. I don't know who these humourless people Admin is wooing are but they must know where the bodies are buried. After all, he only told us a few days ago that traffic was continuing to increase.
You're welcome to think whatever you want. I'm not going to give you a rise and get into a debate over it.
Agreed, I think Garner is decent. Nippy, gets into good positions and when he had a few starts earlier in the season he was quite clever around the box with dummies, one-twos etc.
Ah I see my Bond puns have been deleted, sorry for daring to make a joke, I didnt realise 'Moog humour' encompassed the entire concept of puns
As a serial lurker - i enjoy the threads to read how people felt the game went and also for any transfer gossip etc. I did find the over repeated comments boring and unfunny (you all know theones to do with left backs, walcott etc) however the deletion of jokey comments (if original) seems a bit over the top i.e. the response to how did Bond do? - this was an original comment and im my opinion as someone reading the thread added to it. If you want this site to develop - i think a more reasonable approach to what is allowed and what isn't needs to be adopted.
Is there an outbreak of selective memory on this forum at the moment? I've asked nicely for people to refrain from the usual poor jokes on threads during January at least because it's ruining things for many other users. I've reminded and reminded and so have the mods. If users can't live without showing everyone how clever they are by making a joke on a serious thread then simply leave for the month, or longer if you wish.
Fair point..and is quite young too. Somebody else did say he probably needs to play with Sordell or even Deeney.
